  • hmmm this is not what liberalism and conservatism means to me ;o

  • There's alot of information left out of this like how classical conservatives were primarily against industrialization & favored agriculture. The politics of the guilded age were unmentioned & how it gave rise to the robber barons & caused vast wealth gaps to appear. The severe lack of regulation causing corporations to run amuck & start their own towns in which employees lived and were defacto slaves due to them owing the companies so much. The original classical split is not covered at all.

  • @crackmonster99 - Thanks for the comments "Mr Crack Monster" ... As this film states, it is an overview. A "boiled down" look at political philosophies. Nothing was "left out" as it is meant to cover a big picture of a comparison of political philosophies. We are happy to see it did what it was meant to do - stimulate further inquiry.

  • Liberals never believed that ONLY the government could provide for the poeple. They believed that the government should proved a safety net for those who fall under the cracks or provide a bridge back to prosperity for those impacted by a job market slump. That is just one of the many errors on this video. This video attempts to conceal it's bias, but fails.

  • @funkbrother216 - This video is based on findings of terminology and definitions. There is nothing to conceal. You do not conceal anything either apparently. Once someone accepts this "safety net" you describe, it is a slippery slope and gives more incentive to stay in the net rather than cross that bridge. A net does truly catch things - like fish to be consumed. If you ever get caught in this net, you will also be consumed by bureaucracy. Space is so limited here - real examples abound!

  • @MindWarsMovie Statistics show that the majority of people who are on those programs only collect benefits for an average of one year. I have never heard of a "safety" net being used to catch fish. You're talking about a different net.

  • @funkbrother216 - when making broad statement "statistics show", reference where these statistics are published or risk giving the impression of making them up. We have personal knowledge of those who have been on public assistance for decades. We also can refer to decades of personal knowledge based on a close relative who was a social worker for the government for decades.

  • @MindWarsMovie [when making broad statement "statistics show", reference where these statistics are published or risk giving the impression of making them up.]

Go to any DHS and request a copy of those stats which support my claims. Also, these programs prevent financial hardship from creating a situation that prohibits recovery. If you lack money for both rent and food, having to sacrifice one for the other will impede on your ability to recover, prolonging the situation. cont...

  • @funkbrother216 - DHS? Isn't that the fox who guards the hen house? Also it is typical that you would not provide this yourself, but require us to do the legwork you claim to exist somewhere. It would be a waste of time to chase after data that might exist based on a rumor you have heard.

  • @MindWarsMovie ......Whereas, subsidizing your income with food stamps or unemployment benefits helps you maximize and expediate your efforts toward being productive again. That ultimately helps us all. These programs are investments in people and the data shows a positive return on them.

  • This is an accurate example of the two but in reality Liberalism is much more Evil,..One example of how evil Liberalism is,,...is by the left trying to protect the poor they have made more peole poor, they took away their drive to succeed,Also the lefts desire to always create more laws actually make us less free

  • If conservatives are so fond of freedom, why are the comments to this video being censured? Why don't you allow people to simply express their opinions. Why are you behaving like tyrant?

  • @Jack194343 - ??? Not sure what stimulant you are taking. Apparently you should back down on the doses a bit. Do you always find yourself jumping to conclusions like this?

  • If conservatives are so fond of liberty, why is Michigan's governor firing ELECTED city officials and establishing corporate dictators in their place? Why are Republicans so afraid to negotiate with unions? Why are Republicans taking billions of dollars out of public school systems and giving it to the richest people in the country? Why are Republicans redistributing the wealth up from the middle class to the super rich?

  • @Jack194343 - First you should try to become less confused. This film is about the concepts of liberalism and conservatism. Try watching the ENTIRE film first.

  • Great video. Today you have two parties lurching toward bigger government through different means. One with social programs, and the other with an ever expanding role of the military and State Department in other countries affairs. We are 14 trillion dollars in debt and can no longer afford either. Our government needs to be smaller.

  • Comment removed

  • @bubba007ss - which comments are you referring to? We approve everything unless it is obviously just a juvenile prank or "Howard Stern Rules BABABOOIE" ...

  • @MindWarsMovie After I made that comment I realized I was wrong afterwards"" Sorry for the misunderstanding I should of deleted the comment

  • The time will come that they will say to you and I that they have to take complete control of everything to compete with the rest of the world; When the truth of the matter is they sacrificed the American worker for world peace; They believe if we stay connected to the rest of the world through free trade that we will most likely not go to war with one another...

If the Democrats give Amnesty to all illegal's then we will well be on our way towards the road of Socialism..

  • the terms now, simply put, liberals see the state as the solution, so the bigger it is the better

conservatives see state as the problem, so the smaller it is the better

it is because FDR's deep involvement in private sector in the great depression that prolonged it, until WWII

dependence on the govt took away people's liberty, and make govt bigger

I love the last statement - liberal looks to govt for approval, conservatives look to approve govt

  • It is Automatic that More Government = Less Freedom.

"Socialism is like a dream. Sooner or later you wake up to reality."

    ---Sir Winston Churchill

    American Conservative Values:

God, Family, Honor - Truth, Limited Government, Responsibility, Free Markets, Common Sense.

    Libbie 'progressive' values:

Atheism, Abortion, Hate - Lies, BIG Government, Nanny State, Socialism/Communism, "Whatever".

  • A total crock of shit. right wing propaganda. individual freedom means paying taxes so multibillion dollar corporations like Walmart can build a parking lot. some idiots suck this all up.

  • Hey Tony....You did a good job on this. If you see my comment here among all the others, it would be interesting to participate in producing something like this with you. I'll email you about it.

I'm tempted to debate some of the others commenting here, but just don't have time right now. Again, good job and maybe talk soon. Alvin

  • Far too many people feel that freedom means doing exactly what they want when they want. That is anarchy.

  • This is ridiculous right propaganda. This is hardly a subjective view on the side of Conservatism; indeed it's a wonderfully idealized view painting Progressive thought as the enemy of freedom. How can instituting a state religion, language, government regulation of a WOMAN'S BODY, health care (no public option; the rich have health care), racism (separate but equal), terrorist threats (from Limbaugh, etc.) on EVERYONE as such be considered "liberty"?

  • @killprocessofficial - This is quite an amazing comment. Apparently you have sever tunnel vision from a very exact and particular viewpoint that must be all your own - or shared by a very small number of others you submit to. "Right prop"? On the contrary, we feel we treated both philosophies quite clearly. I am wondering then if you agree with the current administrations push to regulate your body via law - including if you can or cannot have treatment and also what you can and cannot consume.

  • @killprocessofficial lol...how can we JUSTIFY killing innocent children

why should I pay for your healthcare why should govt get involved UNLESS EVERYONE BENEFITS EQUALLY?

racism..LOL...if anything liberal policies have been KEEPING MINORITIES DOWN and reliant on the tit of govt for years,,lol..typically lefty calls out racism while their policies take out any incentive for them to grow..terrorist threats..now thats a beauty...stick your head in the sand until a terrorist blows up you.save it

  • Well made but a false definition of Liberal. If you assume something is true, and it's not, then base your argument on that, then the entire argument is false. Liberals do not think as described here. Do some? Not enough to base an entire premise on. Liberals like complete freedom like everyone else. They only turn to govt. when all other means have failed and they think it is important enough to do. The market cannot provide all the answers. If it did there would be no need for govt. at all

  • @CLAMBERITE - You are not describing the modern liberal philosophy. That is the libertarian you describe - or the "classical liberal" which existed prior to the 20th century. Your definition passed away slowly after the 1950s - Those "liberals" were from the early 20th century and hoodwinked into being "new dealers" by elite aristocrats who were bent on keeping you "kept and happy" while maintaining their "ruling class" over you. At the mid century, socialist named you "useful idiots".

  • @MindWarsMovie I am describing what I believe, not giving you some definition. You are giving me definitions of what a "liberal" is and was. Perhaps you base your beliefs about us from these 'definitions' you have come up with. So as one I can tell you you are incorrect. Where that leaves your philosophy I don't know. My statement stands alone on its own 2 feet and while originally written as a response to the video it is equally applicable and on point to your reply.

  • @CLAMBERITE - who are this "us" you write about ... "as one I can tell you" - what do you mean? You need to back up your comments with examples to be taken seriously. Are you one of those who feel that "feelings" make something so?

  • @MindWarsMovie I am a liberal. I want the smartest, smallest effective government. I don't like taxes. I believe in freedom for everyone. I am a capitalist. I believe in the free market. Everyone who is capable should make their own way. I am against unwarranted transfer of wealth. Serious enough for you? Feelings do not make it so.

  • @CLAMBERITE - What you describe of yourself is a Constitutional Conservative or a Reagan Conservative or even a Reagan Democrat to put it in late 20th century terminology. You are obviously not a modern liberal. Definitely not a marxist or progressive. You would fit in well calling what you believe you are as "liberal" if this was the mid 1870s. That is considered the "classical liberal" which only exists at that time period in history. Would you say you believe as Senator Maxine Waters? No way.

  • @CLAMBERITE - Yes - I would agree with your admission that your statement "stands alone".

  • OMG. I legit died at the bread analogy. WTF was that. lol! although, I gotta agree that this video is total BS. Liberals believe in personal rights and today some believe in a government that is more active in the economy. Conservatives seem to hate personal rights and toleration (gay rights, secular rights, right to abortions), yet they seem okay with capitalistic economic rights.

  • lago4 - We do not expect canadians to understand, nor are we surprised you would consider reality a form of "bias".

  • Wow, talk about pro-conservative bias on this "documentary"

  • @lago4 well you're the typical liberal I suppose always complain, what can we say to satisfy you anti american pricks?

  • @DJBuckCallYo liberals are the best americans we have and by the process by which this video was play the narriatore is far more conservitive or a nother word for conservitive would be fear of the future, change, other races, and other beliefes that are not christian which they don't even understaid or make an atempt to understaind

  • @amk4956 Whaaaaaaaaat??? Sheesh...a perfect example of the muddled, fuddled, disjointed, nonsense of the liberal mind at work.

  • @zeezil66 - No big thing - he's apparently from the MTV / Ipod generation who cannot get through 60 seconds of a song or video without getting bored and bailing out ... can only understand blipverts ... "I've got 10,000 songs on my pod! But I've only heard the intros."

  • @amk4956 So all conservatives are white? And our best Americans were founding fathers, Andrew Jackson, Abe Lincoln and Ronald Reagan who were conservative.Conservatives look to the past because its usually a good indicator to future actions.Like Government failing at just about anything it does besides a arms race. You sound like you do not know a lot about liberalism or conservatism though.

  • @proatmetazine30906 we feature a conservative business person who happens to be "black" - not that it is in there BECAUSE of that - in fact, it is interesting how liberals are the ones who notice race - whereas conservatives seem to notice abilities of people. Socrates said it best: "Youth is so easy to fool because it is so quick to embrace" - We find it very interesting how "young liberals" who cannot get through 16 bars of a song on their Ipod cannot watch much of anything either -

  • @lago4

    A) Who is not biased?

    B) What was said in this video that is unfactual?

    C) Are facts biased?

  • great video! very informative!

  • There is no longer a definitive definition of liberal which is why progressives/marxists have been able to hoodwink and infiltrate the classical liberal.

There is no longer such a thing as liberal but in moniker only.

Winston Churchill said a century ago that "A man at 20 who is not liberal has no heart. But that man at 40 who is not conservative has no brain."

However, the real definition of an *ssh*l* is a liberal who democratic socialists (marxist defined) call a "useful idiot".

  • I thought this guy was making sense until he said that liberals believe that "only the government can provide freedom" I thought he was down the middle. Real slick. This guy is an ass hole

  • Unfortunately, conservatives DON'T embrace the ideals of freedom when it comes to social issues. Neither of these two philosophies believe in true individual freedom.

  • @Aliothemage I believe conservatives who understand what free market capitalism do believe in freedom, its inherent in the system that the individual makes choices. Any government interference results in less individual freedom. Unfortunately, most politicians in DC aren't conservatives even though they have an (R) next to their name. There was never more wealth or freedom than in the era of small government in the 19th century

  • @Aliothemage Apparently a real conservative believes in your freedom in your own privacy. That is what we have found. In fact, we do not know anyone who enjoys having a smoker blow smoke in one's face as well as having any other activity forced into one's face - this includes public display of private activities - keep it in your own house. How is freedom defined as interfering with anyone in public? Apparentl;y you have been looking at "pretend conservatives" as well as "pretend liberals".

  • @MindWarsMovie

Who defines what a "private activity" is? if you don't like seeing certain activities done on public property then don't go on public property, or better yet, minimize the amount of public property that exists that way we won't have right's conflicts like this (being free from offence vs being free to act on property both parties "own" publicly). And how is smoking outside in the open air equivalent to having smoke blown in one's face?

  • @MindWarsMovie

Also, how is a conservative's advocacy of outlawing plants (drugs) and gay marriage as well as the patriot act ways of respecting the privacy of others? Conservatives routinely invade the privacy of others through the government.

The true advocates of freedom and respect for our fellow man are voluntarists and libertarians/minarchists.

  • @Aliothemage :The very word Social does not fit together. There is no social freedom. Socialism creates dependencies and the feeling entitlements are owned. Being helpful to your neighbor as the right thing to do not the dictated law . I believe in true individual LIBERTIES ..there is a big difference between liberty and freedom. But those with socialist blinders and communist dreams will never get it.

  • awesome vis.thanks!

  • Very interesting if perhaps a touch misleading. I disagree that conservatives believe in approving the government. That assumes allowing the government to do something then seek approval, it is what the government does now, and it does not work well. Liberals looking to the government for approval, makes more sense, since they do not want to do something that would be considered illegal or unconstitutional.

  • @TheRenesc . I respectfully disagree, I think what was meant is that liberals beleive that we as citizens should look to the goverment to approve we want.. Where conservitives beleive that the goverment should look to us for what we want. Liberals = goverment control us Conservitives we control the goverment.

I do agree with what we have now is not working....mind you what we have now is a liberal president and a goverment that is largely made up of liberal "represenitives".

  • Could you write this down and post it in the description?

  • Great video.

  • bushisapinhead, stfu, you have no idea what your talking abot, this video is bipartisan as it gets. not one second did they bash liberalsim. so get a tampon you winny libtard

  • Thanks for the broad stroke condemnation of the right pinhead. Can you enlighten the rest of us with some of the "patently false statements" you refer to?

  • Not misleading at all. Anyone with "bushisapinhead" for a profile name is so obviously biased. Forget bias and look at the very basics of the Constitution. Were are the falsehoods? Government was intended to be by the people and for the people. The vast majority of Americans tend to be in the middle of extreme right and left. Yet, this administration, now that it is in power, is as left as they come. This was not the campaign message at all!

  • Loved it!

Those who have rated this poorly did not watch it!

    Well done.

    And that narrator....wow!

  • I think this is a fantastic video! Not only is it clear and concise,,it approaches the differences between the two philosophies with objectivity and respect. Thanks for the sharing of your work.

  • This is a very misleading and oversimplified view of the differences between liberalism and conservatism. The statements about liberalism are patently false, but the video is useful for understanding the intellectual blinders of the right-winger.

  • @bushisapinhead Right wing, left wing, it does not matter. We have a one party system that is run by Wall St.

Individual freedoms, free markets, and liberty are how America became great, and the Ds and the Rs don't believe in those things anymore.
