most of the roles were played by multiple animals, as even in the original japanese version the story was only put together after a couple of years of shooting, which is why milo clearly changes patterns, and seems to change age over time.

Although, if you are a little kid, you probably wont notice these things.

The scene with the deer is absolutely beautiful. I love this movie so much. Its refreshing to look back and see that they were able to have the animals get along and didn't have to lazily resort to CGI animals...ugh

@TheAnimalDen, Well look at the movie. You can see the cats and dogs playing Milo and Otis are under stress alot. Im referring to the scenes when they are whimpering and showing signs of stress ( ears flat, crouched down, hissing, crying) They might not be physically hurt ( What we see from the film) but they are definetly emotionally stressed. Leaving a dog on a rock that is being pummeled by water is cruel, even if he is not getting hurt. Its extremly stressful and would not happen today
