It's very easy to say that writing to people in power is futile. There's always plenty of reasons to do nothing and just sit around complaining about things. I can think of at least one occasion where I've written to a politician and he acted on what I said. Bush could do something if he felt vulture funds go against US policy on debt cancellation.

Can someone explain the extent of this. What happens if Zambia does not pay it and defaults? Can it's assets be frozen or claimed by the vultures? Can future IMF loans be confiscated? Can Zambia's copper exports be legally seized?
