It was all over the news (nightly news too, not just entertainment) about how he wrote Freedom '90 to speak against war. I just Googled "George Michael interviews Freedom '90" and there is all kind of information and interviews on the internet about the backstory to this song. Of course you have the right to read whatever you like into the lyrics, but they are ABSOLUTELY ABOUT WAR. Thanx Schader!

The chorus at the start with all the instruments besides the organ stripped off is really pretty. Is that just one channel of the stereo recording? Otherwise, how did you get the other instruments out? Thanks.

I wish I knew where you got this. Not only is that beginning stripped of all instruments except the organ and vocals; it also seems to be assembled by splicing rearranged parts of the song. First of all, the standard recording doesn't start with the chorus like yours, and second, the standard recording repeats the chorus in only one part of the song, and it doesn't end with the usual high vocal like yours.
