imacpro if you go the apple imac site choose that you wanna buy the imacpro then its gone let you customise and choose all of the best stuff all the higher stuff all the costumise staff that you can get with apple with is good but the price can be 20thousand and something!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! imagene 20,000and litle more that super alot imac with everything can go up to 5,000 or 6,000 so the prices are realy different
I'm looking forward to the new iMacs... Hope they'll have quad cores, I don't care About bluray. I'd also like a bigger screen, maybe 30". That won't happen of course...
Well Dave I like your vids. There are lots of other people making tech vids but you're one of the best. Keep up te good work;)
Oh, my, brand new stuff from Apple? Please! I'm sick of it really. Sick of their rush for updates and upgrates leaving huge problems unresolved for us -- matrix, monitors, superdrives, harddrives, cases -- now there'll be problems with blue-ray if it comes out equipted with it, macos bugs! Now it's going to be history, right? We all get that new brand problems as they expect us to? 'Rock solid' doesn't apply to Apple any more. There's something else which does )))
Actually, Mac sales have been steadily rising since the dawn of the modern personal computer. And with each release of a new Windows OS, Mac sales drop the following quarter, and then rise further than they were before.
Also, targeting Windows 7 based on upgrades is utter bullshit. You can restore all of your files from XP from your backup.
great vid dave, ive heard there may be a keynote on the 27th but thats pure speculation as you well know... hope they get quad cores and blu-ray but if blu-ray is cut from it then its no big deal and ill still be getting one, roll on the keynote!!!
correction...if you are running windows vista home premium or higher then you would have the opportunity to do the upgrade. If you are running windows vista home basic then you would have to perform a clean full install. Same with any version of XP.
I will be selling my current 08 Mac Pro 3.2Ghz for a Gulftown Mac Pro been saving for a new Mac Pro sense feb 08 until know and manage to save $7,600 but some of that will goto Apple's LED 30" inch when ever that will be released can't wait to see these new computers
nope I don't run a business but I do small side jobs like wedding, formal, school, family etc.. Photo's, a small amount of video of events for families nothing big, but I do buy a computer every 2 years never keep no computer longer then 2 yrs and all the side-jobs I did for over the past year and 8 months I made enough money to buy other Mac Pro, Do I need it no but do I want it yes it's just extra money that I saved
Current Mac Pro hardware supports 128GB of RAM, but the prices of the DIMMS are prohibitive right now. You'd spend more on the RAM alone than the rest of the entire machine.
"I've got all sorts of cool features, like previews in finder and a sleek GUI and iLife an-"
"Yeah, we know, we've got Windows Live Essentials, and our own previews, and our own revamped GUI...and we don't delete all your files when you click 'Guest'"
LOL Windows Live Essentials. They stripped out the mediocre set of apps that came with the OS and made them as "free downloads" instead and watered them down a little. Especially Movie Maker. The only thing I use from them is Messenger, that's it, the rest are a waste of time IMO. Mail is the next most useful, but I use Outlook, so that's obviously going to be better.
If you've ever used iLife, you'd know. It's as simple as that. I've used both, and Live Essentials is laughable in comparison. They may be used for the same stuff but the implementation and ease of use is vastly superior in my opinion within iLife.
I have used iLife. What's with you like, obsessed Mac users and always assuming every Mac user loves everything Apple does and makes just as much as you do? And everyone who doesn't has apparently never used it.
I know people who prefer Movie Maker to iLife, and I can't see how iPhoto is any better than Photo Gallery. And iWeb is a piece of crap.
iDVD, there's no equivalent to, but Windows Home Premium and up include DVD Maker which is fine.
GarageBand is all I can say good job to Apple for.
iLife is a poor set of applications at a rip-off price.
I hate iMovie with a passion, i constantly find new bugs or have stability issues with it. That's not just the latest revision either, iMovie 06, 08 AND 09. All piss poor apps.
Windows Live Essentials may not have the gimmicky feature set, but it works.
You DO realize iLife is free with every new mac, right?
AND there are alternatives to iMovie for OS X, Linux, and windows, hating an application is retarded because there are always alternatives, take your anger somewhere else please.
So what you're saying is "You disagree with Apple, you're not welcome here"
Right...
Anyway, i use both a Macbook Pro and PC daily, i don't favour one platform over the other. If an app sucks, it sucks, i won't protect it because it's from the almighty Apple :P
Yes, iLife comes with Mac, but users have to pay to upgrade :P Would you say the differences between 08 and 09 justify the price?
No that isint what I said, i dont like having to read anyone's rants on youtube, no matter what they are about. And no Im not paying $70 to upgrade, thats what P2P networks are for.
you are ignorant. this channel is very good! you can't go to an apple store and ask them what is going to come in the future. they don't know and if they do they never tell anyone.
Let's not forget that with Snow Leopard's Grand Central Dispatch, and when more software starts to use it, those extra cores and threads will pay for themselves in the extra performance boosts you'll get. Some apps have already experienced a 50% performance boost by just making it use GCD, imagine softaware made from the start to take advantage, along with OpenCL?
You actually do. For video encoding using the 9400M can give you the equivilent performance as the 2 Quad Xeons in a Mac Pro doing the same task, that is assuming the app is taking advantage of the GPU for that task. Plus let's not forget that the 9400M isn't in the top end machines, you'd be hard pressed using them to benefit the things OpenCL is primarily aimed at improving, like video encoding and the like.
Good point. But, some hyped performance gains sometimes end up being just that. hype. A completely new technology standard can change things over night. And I don't want anyone to feel down about their sweet new iMac.
imacpro if you go the apple imac site choose that you wanna buy the imacpro then its gone let you customise and choose all of the best stuff all the higher stuff all the costumise staff that you can get with apple with is good but the price can be 20thousand and something!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! imagene 20,000and litle more that super alot imac with everything can go up to 5,000 or 6,000 so the prices are realy different

Yeah, let's use OpenCL on our integrated nVidia GeForce 9400 graphics! We're sure to get a huge performance boost out of it!
manjyoumethunder 2 years ago 5

Yeah, it's not in the top end machines, only the $1,700 15" MacBook Pro and under. Not like I'd expect a decent GPU for $1,700.
