  • Nice looking trolley trains but why miss match them? It would look better if they all were one type i think.

  • @tormax38 I agree it would look better, but it's done to make sure there is at least one handicapped accessible low floor car in every train. If they ran trains of all Type 7s and all Type 8s, there would be no handicapped access in the type 7 trains.

  • @jdgator95 Im guessing the type 7 cars are the ones that look like they've been through hell and back and the type 8 cars are the ones that look Italian or french like. If that's the case then why not just run the type 8 units full time? Or make platforms that have handicap devices. From the video, it would seem that the type 8 units are a little longer. If thats true then you can always run a double or triple unit ( around rush hours) to handle the massive crowds. Just brainstorming here..

  • @tormax38 Yes you're right the Type 8s are new and made by an Italian company called Breda. They don't have enough Type 8s to run full time is the problem, the fleet is about half and half. Handicapped accessible platforms would be nice but difficult due to the line's street running portions (where stops are in the middle of the street with no platforms at all), along with the factor of cost, with the MBTA being in severe debt. Type 8s and 7s are actually the same size roughly.

  • @jdgator95 Important to note that the Type 7s are technically ADA compliant as they have no doorway obstructions for the handi-cap, and have a designated handicap zone. The T runs the 8s in the mixed consist because they are easier for handicapped passengers to board. For a handicap person to board a Type 7 they require an external wheelchair lift or a handicap ramp (all platforms have one or the other (or both)).

  • where were u shooting from?

  • @redsoxguy617 science museum parking garage

  • The last itme I was there, we were riding PCCs, there was nothing on the other side of the viaduct, except desolation. Don't know that the clutter of new buildings is any better.

I really would like to visit Lechmere station and document it, before it is gone.

    jdgator95, I enjoy your videos.

  • @zyzlnwh Thanks, and yes I will be sure to get plenty of footage at Lechmere before it's gone.

  • LOL, typical Boston drivers at 3:45!

  • sounds like it was filmed yesterday. we visited boston this week and yesterday was really windy

  • @redsoxguy617 Nearly any day in Boston in a windy day!

  • Great work!! I filmed that section back in 2003-04 when everyone thought it was as good as gone.

  • 2012alexg is right. When I was watching it on my iPod touch (3rd gen.) the video pause because of an installment of an elevator at science park. On the bright side when I go to the museum of science I'll hear a lot less screatching because they have bus service from North Station - Lechmere.

  • I'm gonna miss riding on the Viaduct.

  • @2012alexg its not going anywhere any time soon

  • @jdgator95 @parejopinto They're closing it on April 30th until December 31st due the reconstruction of Science Park.

  • @2012alexg They're still running the Lechmere trains, but they get out of service at North Station. I had to learn about Science Park being closed the hard way! I ended up walking form North Station to MoS yesterday.

  • @CanobieFanatic Yes, because very few MBTA operators remember it's closed and forget to set it to "North Station"

  • @2012alexg are they tearing it down?
