I would have fired all of you nuts for breach of contract. You agreed to a certain amount of pay at the point of hiring and decided to renege on it, that's breach.
You did not receive your back pay as per the arbitrators ruling. Don't lie.If you found another job and worked through the time you were laid off VZ deducted that from what they owed you. It was only after a class action suit was being perused by laid off members on the issue of deduction of monies earned during layoff did the union step in to help the company by placing the back pay issue in the grievance procedure. It is currently (permanently) in arbitration .

I am praying for GM to get back on track. If it does make it this time, this will attest to the hinderance a bulked union can create. What is the point of having a union when its representatives are scabbing heavily. The stewards are manipulated by the management: steath and deceptive, giving them deceptive joy and silly chat. They have fired union members and yet there are still scabs that brown nose heavily to them.
Do your research before making a comment like that! unions only make up 6% of all the Private Sector jobs in this country... 6% The public sector jobs are even lower than 6% so what is the other 94% doing for this country? 14% currently unemployed which equals to 30 million people without jobs! Remember, unions were created to protect workers & provide good jobs for middle class workers. Where's the middle class now? How about all the millions of jobs sent overseas to India & China?
@face1reality Unfortunately, the good the unions were designed to do got highjacked by profiteering criminals and financial terrorists. Workers rights should be protected, but accosting non-union workers, intimidation, coercion, all greatly undermine an otherwise noble cause.
What about those of us laid off now? november 18th 2009, they couldn't even wait until after the holidays! Hope Seidenburg can afford to gas up his new bentley. So hard to maintain it on such a meager 30 million dollar salary
