It is truely remarkable how delusional and ignorant some people are in the west, despite having enormous standards of living, comfortable lives, good education, legal and political rights.
Simple fact that capitalism has been the most effective way to remove poverty, and improve the standard of living. Having the state runs things because some people are richer than others in capitalist ones, others i might add who would be the rich people by socialist standards, is amusing marxist lunacy."
@spader49 To point out the HORRIFIC AFTERMATH of genocide as an excuse for why colonization is acceptable and should continue is just completely nonsensical.
@Way2Spirited I dont remember saying that genocide justifies colonization; something good can be said about parts of the way of life among certain past tribes, generally the hunter-gatherer times were much more violent and certainly not 'healthy'. In Africa, prior to 'the scramble' of the 1870s, Slavery was rampant, the African kings zealously engaged in it, profited from it, and saw no wrong in it, there were no states, only 10,000 tribes, plagued by disease, infant mortality, and war.
@spader49 WhAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaat!!!!????? Hunter Gatherer Cultures are MORE VIOLENT and NOT Healthy??!!! Clearly 1) you were spoon fed colonist propaganda 2) You know nothing of "Hunter-Gatherer cultures" AKA Tribal, Nature oriented cultures- firstly "Hunter-Gatherer" is a culture NOT A TIME PERIOD! and ANY culture is CLEARLY "less violent" than the culture that dropped that damned ATOMIC BOMB on Hiroshima you ass.People that live naturally are not stupid and barbaric they are Wise&Healthy!
@TheWiindigo With respect, Its a popular fallacy you are expressing, called 'the noble savage myth'. For most of humanity, prior to the invention of agriculture around 10,000 years ago, people lived as hunter-gatherers; this is a prehistoric time period. Steven Pinker, harvard professor, has an erudite youtube video on such pre-state cultures and violence therein: so i recommend you type in 'Steven Pinker, a brief history of violence'. It debunks your views and fallacies. All the best.
@spader49 I speak of no "popular fallacy". I speak of my own culture. I am Anishinaabe. You are expressing a popular fallacy, it is called "white supremacy". I know of pinker already, he is racist, he twists things like a used car sales man/liar. He is eurocentric and ego centric. You echo his words and ideas often.
@TheWiindigo Obviously you havent watched the video; otherwise you wouldnt express such stupid and ignorant views. Pinker happens to be the most respected evolutionary psychologist and harvard professor in the world today. His youtube video is based on 'facts', and global historical data, not 'eurocentric' data. Of course you cant factually disagree with him, so you call him racist. Thats the level of your intellectual ability. Its not impressive. I guess you're happy with your delusions.
@TheWiindigo Can you name a single racist thing Pinker ever said, ever implied, or ever wrote? can you point out a specific area where he is wrong? if not, what does that say about how easy you call people 'racists'. Only a pure idiot and scumbag does that. A scumbag who doesnt care about the truth. The 'noble savage' myth, one of your many ignorant brainwashed delusions, is not based on any particular race, and was applicable to all people of all races, but thats not important to you, is it.
@TheWiindigo I saw that movie. The clean organic indians living peacefully and as one with nature, respecting each other and women too. taking only from nature what they could eat. Leaving the land pure and natural.....bs Indians had trash dumps! Indians killed each other and were at war with each other and they stole women and made slaves of the conquered tribes. And when they came here 13000 yrs ago their deseased animals wiped all the native animals off the map..mamouths..giant sloth etc
@dbohnenkamper What "movie" are you referring to and what difference does it even make? I am an Indigenous american person telling you how I feel about the disease of colonization. I know my own culture, I don't need some white movie to tell me anything one way or another. Stop referring to us in past tense, we are people not a time period. If you actually KNEW some of us and about our cultures you would not be spewing out these regurgitated misconceptions about Native People.
@TheWiindigo When Indians first colonized to North America they brought with them animals. These animals had desease. Those deseases caused the great North American animal extinctions 13,000 years ago. How is your colonization of North America any different than when whites settled north America? Well other than the date? You are not "native" you just got here from asia sooner.
@TheWiindigo Ask the Chinese if rule under Japan was pleasant. The Japanese military rule was more cruel than hitler. My theory of the Atom bomb is that if it saved one hair on one GI it was worth dropping it. But the fact is dropping those two bombs saved millions of Japanese lives and probably close to a million American lives! And did the evil Americans enslave the Japs and take their land? No,the US only takes enough land to bury our dead. In exchance for peace and prosperity.
@TheWiindigo Capitalism pulled people out of poverty. No other system in the history of man let a poverty stricken person become wealthy. and educated and free from serfdom.....socialism is surfdom. socialism is evil...pure evil. Socialism is murder. Socialism robs the human soul of its humanity.
@spader49 It is truely remarkable how delusional and ignorant some people are in the west, despite having enormous standards of living, comfortable lives, good education, legal and political rights.
@spader49 "It is truly remarkable how delusional and ignorant some people are in the west, despite having enormous standards of living, comfortable lives, good education, legal and political rights." I totally agree. Ignorant and delusional. People can be educated if they are willing to expand their minds and get their ego in check but most are afraid to even entertain the thought that their heroes might have been wrong or that other people may have had a different experience/reality.
African colonies under British direction were economically better off before decolonisation. Zambia now has a GDP per capita 28 times less than British standards, in 1955 British per capita GDP was just 7 times greater. In fact, 40 out of the 41 former British colonies in per capita income terms are worse off now, only Singapore bettered its position. Now the average Briton is 200 times better off than the average person from Sierre Leone, in 1965 he was only 6 times better off.
Wow this guy's mind is so mined, he's the perfect product of his capitalist culture, so removed from the bloody, dirty human cost for that pencil to be made. "cooperation" my ass! it's easy to buy his lies when the media spouts the same lies and no one actually sees or hears about the horrors that go on on foreign lands, against foreign ppl, in the name of Eurowestern profit. It's sobering to think about all the human oppression that went into making that 1 pencil sold for 25 cents.
Or you could look at the lives enriched from going into manufacturing in the country that made it instead of young girls prostituting their bodies or young men being forced to farm for 16 hours a day for enough food to feed their family.
Look at the countries that reject free markets like North Korea. Their entire populace is subjected to abhorrent conditions because they are not allowed to trade or work free from the government's direction.

@spader49 Giving GDP #'s is speaking the oppressive colonizer's language; such figures are meaningless to some ppl, plus "handsome" GDP's come at high human costs that you can't attach dollar amounts or GDP figures to. Profit in this world means trampling on & destroying the land, culture, labour and self-determination of others and it's never okay. The guy in this vid has a very mined mind; he's the perfect widget produced by his dehumanizing capitalist culture.
Actually, giving GDP when adjusted for Purchasing Power Parity is exactly comparing apples to apples. If you cannot attach dollar amounts to GDP, what do we discuss when speaking of the horrors of Zimbabwe where young girls must sell their body to eat? Is that not abhorrent? When looking at GDP as adjusted for PPP, you are at a grand level comparing the level of comfort in one culture to another. To argue otherwise is insanity.
@spader49 It seems as though you've missed the point, fully and completely.Try to think outside of the money box for a moment. Apparently you believe being "better off" equals having money. Money is a concept of the colonizer. Has it not occurred to you that there are entire cultures that were healthy and happy pre-colonization and would rather not have anything to do with colonization or it's money concept? %90 of my people have been killed by the disease of colonization, that is genocide.
@Way2Spirited Withoutout Money, there would be barter, and the production of Friedman's pencil, your clothes and laptop and a million other things like the food you buy, the bed you sit on etc would not be possible. The idea that entire cultures were 'healthy and happy pre-colonization' reflects that you know nothing about what Africa was like, or economics. Are Africans happy now? starving to death, without medicine or clean water for their numerous children?Their poverty is due to low GDP.
@spader49 I cannot speak for Afrikaans people, I can only speak as Anishinaabe, although we have suffered the same murder, rape and genocide from the same european colonizers. I am TELLING YOU from a Traditional Anishinaabe (Traditional Indigenous American) perspective that my people were indeed quite HEALTHY and HAPPY before the horrific plague of colonization infected us. To assume european ways are superior and that we need to be like you just shows how extremely closed minded you are.
@Way2Spirited Are your people Native American? Did those "entire cultures" fight over hunting land? Muslem tribal leaders had a huge hand in Africa slavery. France, England, Spain, etc. are responsible for slavery in the new world! The USA and it's Constitution are responsible for doing away with first, The African Slave Trade in 1808-09 and then Slavery it's self. The USA lost 550,000 lives in Civil War which paid for in part for the original 500,000 African slaves in the US.
@dbohnenkamper I am "Native American" and I can tell you no, not all cultures Indigenous to what you call the americas fight over "hunting land". Not in the past and not now. Many of us are not even Hunters, many of our cultures are fishing cultures. AND what you think of when you say the words "FIGHT" & "WAR" is very very different from our version of "fighting" and "war".Causing as much death and destruction as possible is a european way NOT ours because in the end it is not good for ANYBODY
@dbohnenkamper The US lost 620,000 in the Civil war. The slave trade did end in the first decade of 1800s, and most Northern states did all pass laws by then abolishing slavery. No such laws existed in the southern states; the slave trade ban only increased the production of slaves in the South, and was not banned: slaves' children were born slaves. Slavery ended in 1865; 4 million were freed. The constitution did not end it or intend that: even Jefferson had 200 slaves, over 90% never freed.
@dbohnenkamper My whole point was that slavery was not the fault of USA. Slavery was the fault of England, Spain, Holland, especially France and that the USA ended the African Slave trade. and the USA ended slavery and paid for our original 500,000 with 620,000 dead in the civil war. Modern history revisionist tend to blame USA for slavery and that is not true.
@dbohnenkamper With respect, England never had slaves. There were slaves in its colonies, but the English abolished Its colonial slavery, long before the US did. The US population in 1790 was 3.9 million, 700,000 of which were slaves. By 1865, there were 4 million slaves. The import of blacks never had an original amount per se, it was incremental. US slavery cannot be blamed on europeans. Most northern soldiers fought to 'preserve the union' not to end slavery, many held very racist views.
@spader49 England brought the original 500,000 slaves to the US. Europe brought 16.5 million africans slaves to the new world. France alone over 6 million. AFRICAN SLAVERY AND SLAVERY IN THE US IS THE FAULT OF EUROPE. The US Constitution said the country could not vote as a country on slavery for 20 years after it was ratified. But individual states could vote any time. England received a copy and that is why they ended their slave trade in 1808 because they knew we would vote to end it.
@spader49 You are right England did not have slaves so it was easy for them to abolish slavery at the same time they abolished their African slave trade. The US on the other hand abolished the slave trade a few months after England but we had to fight a civil war to end the practice. A PRACTICE THAT IS THE FAULT OF EUROPE NOT THE US!. The C W started as a fight to preserve the Union but it ended as a fight to free the slaves. The US ended slavery. France ended slave trade in 1858!
@dbohnenkamper Your argument is weak: is Europe responsible for literally everything that happened after the 1620s? Not just slavery but America's achievements as well? were the first Europeans not 'Americans'? Is a parent responsible for everything his/her child does as an adult, like murder? the slave trade was abolished by British in 1807, and in its colonies in the 1830s. The Consitution did not deal with the issue of slavery at all. In the US, the internal slave trade continued till 1865.
@spader49 NO YOUR ARGUEMENT IS WEAK AS SHIT! Europe in wholly and completely responsible for African slavery in the US and in the New World. The US Constitution is responsible for the end of African Slavery. The US is responsible for the end of slavery. As much as you wish this is not a fact. IT IS A FACT! And democrats were the slave owners and Democrats are the KKK. And democrats were against Civil Rights and it is the dems holding the blacks back cause the dems control education.
@dbohnenkamper I sent you are much more thorough rebuke. Did you read it or not? In a nutshell, there were slaves in Africa before Europeans; slavery existed before people would read. More slaves held by blacks in Africa than by whites in the Americas. The view: 'The US Constitution is responsible for the end of African Slavery' is pure nonsense. Any evidence? Its not even responsible for ending Slavery in the US, nevermind Africa. You dont seem able to understand facts.
@spader49 No one said that African Slavery was the first form of slavery or that slavery did not exist before that....BUT TRANS ATLANTIC AFRICAN SLAVERY IN THE NEW WORLD.... 16,500,000 SLAVES BROUGHT TO NEW WORLD BY EUROPE is totally Europe's fault. Spain England France were the most guilty! It was state sponcered. Europe is responsible for slavery in America. The US is the only reason this practice ended. The US is responsible for ending this barbaric European practice started by europe!
@spader49 Your rebuke as you call it is a joke! You asking me a question is not a rebuke. Article 1 section 9 of US Constitution banned the congress from voting to end the trans atlantic african slave trade until 1807. However individual states could vote at any time. The reason britton abolished the slave trade and slavery in 1807 is because they could read and they had a copy of the constitution. They did not want to be embarrased by the upstart usa so they got a several month head start.
@spader49 You suddenly mixing in the fact that slavery continued in the us after the us banned the trans atlantic slave trade is not a rebuke it is you getting off topic. So The US Constitution is responsible for the ending of the trans atlantic african slave trade. 16,500,000 african slaves that europe brought to the new world is significant. The US constitution is responsible for bringing that to an end. Article 1 section 9. The Civil War and 550,000 US dead Ended Slavery 13th ammendment.
@dbohnenkamper During the formation of the constitution during the 1780s, the issue of slavery was not dealt with as most northerners knew that the south would not join the Union otherwise; the ban on the international slave trade was envisaged to be reopened in 1808, as a compromise to the South, places like Virginia and South Carolina. Slavery became entrenched after the constitution in the 1820s and 30s. The Union had no intention to abolish slavery in 1807 or before/after, not in the south.
@spader49 In 1792, the British voted for the 'gradual' abolition of slavery, the 1807 and 1833 acts were the products of this. Its an amusing theory that the 1807 act in the US prompted the UK to do their own. No evidence. You dont mind taking credit for what the British did in abolishing colonial Slavery, and blame everything on 'Europe', while the South, independent, kept millions of slaves, never brought over, but made in the South.
@spader49 Article 1 Section 9 put a restriction on the new country USA that it could not as a country vote to end slavery or the slave trade until 20 years after ratification. Individual states could vote to end slavery at anytime. The Civil War STARTED because southern stated were LEAVING. When The Civil War ENDED it was about the morality of slavery. The 13th Ammendment followed. The US paid for its sin of slavery with 550,000 dead. What did Europe pay for starting this practice? zero!
@dbohnenkamper I already told you 620,000 died during the civil war. Without slavery there would have been no civil war. The bulk of the US slaves were brought over or made in the South by Americans. The southern states all wanted to kept slavery as alive as an institution. Lincoln did not want a biracial society but rather racial apartheid, as did most notherners. The constitution did not stop or intend to, the US internal slave trade. The founding fathers did not intend it, like Jefferson.
@spader49 Good job you prove my point! "without slavery there would have been no civil war" AND WITHOUT EUROPE BRINGING OVER 16,500,000 AFRICANS THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN NO SLAVERY in the New World. The US Constitution led to the abolishment of the african Slave Trade in England in 1807. New York because of the US Constitution abolished slavery in 1780's. New jersey in 1804. AFRICAN SLAVERY and was totally EUROPE'S FAULT. The USA ENDED SLAVERY. Libs teach that it was US's fault. EUROPE'S FAULT!
@dbohnenkamper The US constitution did not de jure or de facto abolish slavery in the 1780s, It did not lead to the abolishment of the African slave trade in 1807. Any evidence for your emotional views online? 'African Slavery' existed before european colonization. African Slavery was ended by the British, not the US; African Slavery was ended before American Slavery. Think about that for a moment before you rant. If you don't see that you're wrong, you dont recognise facts when you read them.
I have no purpose, directly or indirectly to interfere with the institution of slavery in the states where it exists'. And then in 1862:
'But for your race among us there could not be war, although many men engaged on either side do not care for you one way or the other. Nevertheless, I repeat, without the institution of Slavery and the colored race as a basis, the war could not have an existence. It is better for us both, therefore, to be separated'.
@spader49 Is europe responsible for literally everything that happened after 1620's NO, BUT WHO SAID THEY WERE? YOU! But Europe is responsible 100% for African Slavey in the new World. roughly 1500-1858. Article 1 Section 9 forced England to end The Slave Trade in 1807 a few months before US congress voted to end the practice. The US Civil War ended Slavery. Europe started The Slave Trade and Slavery. The US ended The Slave Trade & Slavery. 16,500,000 souls into slavery, Europe's sin!
I live in socialist country my entire life. It's a disaster! Believe me. Slow death of peoples minds, characters, dreams and dignity. I believe heaven will be more like society of free people - not like comune. AWAY WITH SOCIALISM!!!
@jary1844 are you saying that heaven will be capitalistic instead? I can assure you, based off the principles of jesus and the kingdom of heaven he prophesied; yhere is a much greater chance heaven would be like a commune, rather than a free market. Of course, these are just petty human terms to try and explain divine states.
Freedom? Free to exploit and plunder, this self-serving old fool champions exploitation of people to serve individualist interests, free-loading freak
I am taking advance macroeconomics this term and my prof mary Kilfoil is the worst prof that I have ever had , she killed my interest and forced us to learn economics like machines. at the end of class , it turned out she has socialist ideas. I wish I could have people like Friedman as prof. A man truly engaged in what he is teaching
@persia1324 i feel sorry for you , a lot of colleges in north america have very strong lefty staff and faculty member .I graduated from harvard but man a lot of my lecturer have this big government mentality typical of liberal northeaster so very few of them libertarian and let alone conservative sometimes i just sat in my class thinking man why i'm paying so much money to listen to all this rubbish and i have to carry this piece of paper that i have to carry for the rest of my life !
@faithandpractice Well, Acharn2 of Youtube has no standing and Milton Friedman has tens of thousands of fanatical followers, especially inside the Beltway. Who should be listened to? Choose for your self. But as a start I recommend the book "Econned", by Yves Smith, or start reading her blog Naked Capitalism. It will lead you do many more people far more qualified than me.
This guy did more to destroy the study of economics than anybody since Robert Samuelson distorted Keynes. His zealot disciples turned Chile into hell on earth, and he's never admitted how much human suffering his theories have caused. worse than Greenspan.
@Acharn2 Hmmm, interesting. Milton Freedom = nobel prize winner and celibrated economist. Acharn2 of You Tube = um err, heck who knows. I wonder who should be listened to?
@Acharn2 Actually, you are right his theories have caused suffering, but not what you think. Their true act of cruelty is the propping up of the Federal Reserve as a social engineering device. Think 0% interest rates and you've got it.
@flynn2008 Have to answer in two parts. (1) I don't say everything he advocated is wrong, (2) I say some of the things he advocated produced brutal dictatorship, widespread corruption, and vast human suffering. I think he knew very well what his students did in Chile and Russia. He may or may not have approved, but the results came directly from applying his teachings. He preached freedom, and his doctrines led directly to despotism.
@Acharn2 Was there a brutal force prior in Chile? Where is Chile today?Friedman has said, just because you have capitalism does not mean there is freedom, but where you have freedom you will have capitalism. Russians revolted against their brutal social/communist gov and were better off after. Chile is a thriving democracy today because of what Friedman advocated."Some people die when they are 25 &arent buried till they are 70," these people live under socialism! There is no freedom with dictators
@eric5335 Yeah; it was mind blowing when I first heard it, but when Friedman explained it, it really made a lot of sense. Consider too the trucks that pulled down the trees and the ropes or chains that had to be attached in order to pull down the trees. The chain goes on and on.
@franksballad :-) yeah, all ... in Capitalism some of people voluntarily decide to die as homeless to freez to death, not to have money on healhcare, not to have on education etc. and many other "voluntarily" decisions. Anyway ... useless debate as capitalists brainwashed people don't even know what Socialism is (its everything belonging to the state), and he mos of time they call socialists people who want to have private businesses just not eg. healthcare, or are just more socialy friendly.
@pozorovatelblbu here's the definition of socialism that most people would agree is being referenced here.
- a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole -
Of course, "the community as a whole" usually means a central government.
I oppose anyone telling me what I can & cannot do with my life, my liberty, or my property.
@franksballad So could you tell me why capitalists (people who believe in capitalism) call socialist everyone who wants just some (not all) e.g. part of economy controlled by state? If someone doesn't want homeless people ... i see it this way that a free market is very important for society but not in every area of life or economy because it goes against suvereignity and wellfare of citizens. Why capitalists call people who want free healthcare for everyone socialist?
@franksballad well you can also argue that in socialism, people are forced by political power but in capitalism people are forced by economical power.
If I need vegetables or want some steaks, but I only build furniture I'm going to find a farmer or rancher that needs a table & some chairs. We would figure out what the furniture is worth compared to the food. Because in a true free market only the ones involved in the transaction determine the worth of the goods or services.
@COMMUNISTPHILOSOPHY I can't be facist. I'm an anacho-capitalist. Which means I oppose government involvement in the economy. In fact, I oppose government invovement in all aspects of life.
You can't have fascism without government involvement.
@franksballad And what about people forced to work for capitalists in bad condition and for a very low wage without opportunity to buy own place to live, people forced to live on the street, forced to buy cheap unhealthy food and goods with limited lifetime by planned obsolescence for wellbeing of these capitalists but not of their own in capitalism? I think that capitalism is good only in countries where christian morals of solidarity and tolerance rule. Capitalism should be max. in economy.
Bull shit ... i lived in socialist Czechoslovakia and such pencil was made as a result of an order and was surely good if not better than this he has as it was exported all over the world. Kooh-i-nor company. You are pretty brainwashe people, who never experienced something else then capitalism. On the other way ... "freedom" how it is in real ...
@pozorovatelblbu don take this personally....but socialist Czechosovakia never brought much to the world for any of their socialism. Capitalist USA brought flight, spaceflight, the computer and an impossibly long list of human achievements that no other form of society will ever, EVER inspire or bring forth under some pinhead politicians "order".
@TheWarriorProject So 15 mil inhabitans "strong" Czechoslovakia schould beat USA in inventions? This is exactly the propaganda I'm talking about. There are a lot of inventions even in so called socialist era in reality era of Soviet Union colonial occupation agreed by US governoment and these inventions were in field of medicine ( contact lens patent was sold to USA) and others en.wikipedia. org/wiki/Czech_Republic science. I'm not brainwashed 'cause I'm not for exact economic ideology as you.
@TheWarriorProject ... I'm not brainwashed as you 'cause I experienced Russian colonial socialism and I know that it wasn't good - all to be state owned, in the same time I don't see good everything to be private. It should be in my opinion the democratic decision of people-their governoment what kind of (mixed or not mixed) economy they want. But problem is that state owned( eg natural resources) is not accepted by capitalistic, imperial, corporatocratic USA. JUST LEAVE THE COUNTRIES BREATHE.
Thousands of people cooperated, many dont even speak the same language, all at work for a common goal of "putting bread on the table". The price system determines how much bread, on what kind of a table if a table at all. People cooperating is Socialism

Capitalism is about arrogance expressed as the assumption that what is expropriated from others is a moral entitlement accorded to those with wealth. Another expression of this same arrogance is the failure to acknowledge that it is the labor of others that generates wealth not the virtuousness of the right wing that defends this system of entitlement with the threat of its mob violence legitimized as law.
"Morality was invented by rich men to keep poor men on their knees." -Emillio Zapata.
Teenagers have a talent for recognizing the hypocrisy of their elders. When this empire finally collapses it will come down squarely on the heads of those who chose to ignore the treatment of its have not's. All things considered you probably have reasonable grounds for worrying but its my game guess you lack the smarts, integrity, vision & social conscience to give a damn. "Free choice" in the social context of deprivation coercion & exclusion is a philosophical absurdity.
If you are conservative when young, you are cold-hearted. If you are liberal as you mature you are naive.
Respectfully, your well-intended but light-weight criticism has become a common tactic used to slow economic growth for the poor while not accepting the burden of proposing alternatives beyond hand outs.
$40+ Billion and 46 years since the imposing of the Great Society on the working class and in the end Reagan's pro-capitalism policies did more for the poor.
So it is I who am to blame for "slow growth"?! In point of fact and by any measure the expansion of poverty in America has been remarkable over the period since the election of Ronald Reagan. Liberal reforms will never change the predatory character of a two class society but the broad social benefit of programs aimed at uplift such as CETA and Job Corps were successful in retraining while putting people to work. Reagan's policies successfully re instituted segregation.
Capitalism is the final chapter in historic evolution of THE TYRANNY OF PRIVATE PROPERTY RELATIONSHIP of alienation, exploitation and suffering of humanity, a Market mechanism where minority interest is the NEGATION OF OUR COMMON HUMANITY IN COOPERATION and HARMONY. We shall overcome the structure of minority power and oppression and reclaim our l planet for a world of cooperation for our common needs and well being, expressing our energetic creative expressions in freedom of being.
@xabixnaq klein is so ignorant... I assume that you want to link friedman with Pinochet ... well I think you should read more and find out what freidman said in his speech in chile .... "capitalism is no a Sufficient condition for freedom it´s a necessary condition for freedom" ... and much more ...
@shanepaulcoward Responsible for the state of the world today? What state would that be? Were things better 50 years ago? 100 years ago? Your entire lifestyle was created by a free market, capitalist system. Your car, your computer, your Ipod, your drugs, your food, your clothing, your beer, your shoes, your television. Tell you what limey, give all that shit up or shut the hell up. You're a phony and a hypocrit.
Milton's ideas are peaceful. The haters here are just resentful of the wealth capitalists bring into existence. As if this computer I'm on was stolen from the poor. "When goods do not cross borders, soldiers will". -Frederic Bastiat
Capitalsim breeds ingorance, there is no communism there is no reality of social models to base this cluster fuck world we live in, there is no cohesiveness to form unity to preserve the peoples rights
@rickbar123 What led to you being able to type that in on your computer? Oh right, the free market system, that lets you buy a computer, led to the invention of the personal computer, and fostered the competition to make computers better.
@BurnBeforeEating Oh sure, lets forget all the computer classes everybody took in college on the gov student loans. Lets forget about the buses and trains they took to get to class.
@rickbar123 Yes, let's also forget about the people who invented/designed/improved/built those buses, trains, and computers without any government intervention! While you're at it, let's also forget about the people who harvested and refined the materials to build them.
@theadmiralbs What is done in America that the Gov did not help with. The people that built the buses and trains went to school. Or did they "wing it" ???
What mineral company gets to harvest without a cheap lease that the taxpayer helps pay for. How is it the State Capital systems now own America ????? (like China)
@rickbar123 In the weirdest way, when I read your response, it seems like the argument could be made that machines own us, and not vice versa. Ideas came before the system, and eventually created the system. I always see it with common logic that we made the tool, not the other way around. The tool serves our needs, and should always be that way. We are the creator (god) of the system (tool).
@BurnBeforeEating The problem with rickbar's comment is that he is, essentially, saying that because you benefit to some degree by an immoral and unjust system, you should not fight against it regardless of morality and justice. If this were nazi germany, how could you be against the fascist/socialist government, since only through their grace does one receive education and bus transport. Exactly how would a slave be justified in wanting freedom, when he is so well fed...
The notion that Fascism is far right is untrue. Far right is a complete absence of government - anarchy. Both Fascism and Socialism necessarily mean big government. They are two sides of the same coin. When governments get big, they make citizens smaller. It is always the tendency for governments to grow and freedom to yield. The radicalism of the founders was their belief that individual freedom of the citizen was the highest value. They did not expect this concept to last more than 100 years.
Right wing is the term used to describe support for social stratification, the preservation of social order, and upholding traditional values
(.Left and right: the significance of a political distinction, Norberto Bobbio and Allan Cameron, pg. 37)
As you can see, fascism is right wing as per the definition of right wing. Both socialism and fascism mean centralized government control, but they are at opposite sides of the political spectrum on economic and social issues.
Socialism works until you run out of other people's money. Socialist societies are doomed to failure in the long term. Europe has survived this long because we in the US have protected them since WWII. They cannot protect themselves militarily. When things go bad economically, then the we'll see what results. Look at what's happening in Greece. So far, modern socialist societies (save Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro, etc.) have not become totalitarian. Stay tuned.
@BrideAndGroomFilmsHD: Labor is only one component of wealth creation. You also need capital and in many cases the entrepreneur. Marxism eats capital by "spreading it around". It's like eating next years cropseed. Poverty is the norm. Prosperity is an aberration. Poverty can only be eliminated by prosperity. Pollution can only be eliminated by prosperity. The Left is toxic: it destroys whatever it touches. The bigger the government, the smaller the citizen. Citizens are demeaned by handouts.
Too bad Barack Obama doesn't understand this. Too bad the Democrats in congress don't understand us. They want to give us a command-economy health care system. WILL NEVER WORK! Only a system based on the magic of price will ever work.
You really don't understand Leftist ideology. The Left are wealth destroyers. It doesn't matter to them. They only exist to redistribute wealth. It's a religion that's just a zealous as the most radical sects of Islam. Their holy trinity is race, sex, and class. Their greatest lust is for power. They are fanatics for power. They use their power to exert their utopian dreams. They believe that man can be "perfected" to create the perfect society. The problem is that the unwilling must be killed.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
OUTRAGEOUS propaganda to keep the wealth in tact. Don't you see - outsourcing stimulates greed and greed stimulates power and power begets Totalitarianism. We are being overtaken. If China ever calls in their note we will be fighting in the streets to feed our children. It is real my friend and very close.
It is called comparative advantage. Our economy here in the U.S. has shifted away from low skill type of work, such as call center operators, light manufacturing and other mundane tasks, to highly skilled / knowledge base type of work.
In other words, third world countries or countries with a lower standard of living relative to the U.S. have a comparative advantage in providing cheap labor, where as the U.S. have a comparative advantage in providing labor that require creativity and technical knowledge, such as film making, financial services, research & development etc. Accordingly, highly skilled work commands higher pay, which is what the labor force in the U.S. expects.
The free market allows consumers and businesses the freedom to choose where and how to spend their money. The reason businesses choose to invest in cheap labor overseas is because WE the consumers demand low / competitive prices and WE the shareholders (i.e., people with 401Ks, mutual funds, and other types of equity) demand high return.
This is the economic system that has given the Steve Jobs, the Thomas Alva Edisons, the Alexander Flemings of our society the incentives to produce the goods and services that has benefited us all, as well as the incentives for financiers to invest in such individuals.
The labor market is constantly evolving; people just have to evolve with it.
Capitalism is about humility. It's about looking at another persons wealth and acknowledging that they earned it, without the feeling that some of that is rightfully yours. It's not.
@fluff125 Capitalism is One UP Man Ship, Looking up or down in either direction in comparison, Cain & Abel metaphor, Capitalism is structure with no structure in sound principles, there is no cohesive plan for the earth, and eventually there will be nothing left to buy..Meanwhile the rich control the poor deciding who lives or dies even though in equality we are born in the evolution of human mediums that forn Egonomics, or the physical relationship that is the machines of technology
@shanepaulcoward This is obviously too complex for you to understand. Coming from the United Kingdom, your response doesn't surprise me. Probably been indoctrinated into the socialist, utopian, depend on gov't frame of thinking since birth.
@shanepaulcoward Anti semitic, brainwashed ,socialist European. Your definitley not unique. You're a sheep like the rest of them. Isn't that what socialism is? Destroying individualism? I don't even think you're intelligent enough to watch this documentary. You just want the gov't to take care of you. Am I right?
@fluff125 I agree with you! It's too bad that so many people have forgotten that. Every dewey-eyed socilaist thinks that they are entitled to what they have not earned. They even justify their actions and beliefs, thay dont think they're taking it from someone else, they're giving it to themselves. Strange.

Way2Spirited 4 months ago
@Way2Spirited I dont remember saying that genocide justifies colonization; something good can be said about parts of the way of life among certain past tribes, generally the hunter-gatherer times were much more violent and certainly not 'healthy'. In Africa, prior to 'the scramble' of the 1870s, Slavery was rampant, the African kings zealously engaged in it, profited from it, and saw no wrong in it, there were no states, only 10,000 tribes, plagued by disease, infant mortality, and war.
spader49 4 months ago
TheWiindigo 2 months ago
@TheWiindigo With respect, Its a popular fallacy you are expressing, called 'the noble savage myth'. For most of humanity, prior to the invention of agriculture around 10,000 years ago, people lived as hunter-gatherers; this is a prehistoric time period. Steven Pinker, harvard professor, has an erudite youtube video on such pre-state cultures and violence therein: so i recommend you type in 'Steven Pinker, a brief history of violence'. It debunks your views and fallacies. All the best.
spader49 2 months ago
@spader49 I speak of no "popular fallacy". I speak of my own culture. I am Anishinaabe. You are expressing a popular fallacy, it is called "white supremacy". I know of pinker already, he is racist, he twists things like a used car sales man/liar. He is eurocentric and ego centric. You echo his words and ideas often.
TheWiindigo 2 months ago
@TheWiindigo Obviously you havent watched the video; otherwise you wouldnt express such stupid and ignorant views. Pinker happens to be the most respected evolutionary psychologist and harvard professor in the world today. His youtube video is based on 'facts', and global historical data, not 'eurocentric' data. Of course you cant factually disagree with him, so you call him racist. Thats the level of your intellectual ability. Its not impressive. I guess you're happy with your delusions.
spader49 2 months ago

And when they came here 13000 yrs ago their deseased animals wiped all the native animals off the map..mamouths..giant sloth etc
dbohnenkamper 2 months ago
@dbohnenkamper What "movie" are you referring to and what difference does it even make? I am an Indigenous american person telling you how I feel about the disease of colonization. I know my own culture, I don't need some white movie to tell me anything one way or another. Stop referring to us in past tense, we are people not a time period. If you actually KNEW some of us and about our cultures you would not be spewing out these regurgitated misconceptions about Native People.
TheWiindigo 2 months ago
@TheWiindigo When Indians first colonized to North America they brought with them animals. These animals had desease. Those deseases caused the great North American animal extinctions 13,000 years ago. How is your colonization of North America any different than when whites settled north America? Well other than the date? You are not "native" you just got here from asia sooner.

MrTurdFurgeson 4 months ago
@spader49 It seems as though you've missed the point, fully and completely.Try to think outside of the money box for a moment. Apparently you believe being "better off" equals having money. Money is a concept of the colonizer. Has it not occurred to you that there are entire cultures that were healthy and happy pre-colonization and would rather not have anything to do with colonization or it's money concept? %90 of my people have been killed by the disease of colonization, that is genocide.
Way2Spirited 4 months ago
@Way2Spirited Withoutout Money, there would be barter, and the production of Friedman's pencil, your clothes and laptop and a million other things like the food you buy, the bed you sit on etc would not be possible. Are Africans happy now? starving to death, without medicine or clean water for their numerous children?Their poverty is due to low GDP.

The constitution did not end it or intend that: even Jefferson had 200 slaves, over 90% never freed.
spader49 2 months ago
@dbohnenkamper My whole point was that slavery was not the fault of USA. Slavery was the fault of England, Spain, Holland, especially France and that the USA ended the African Slave trade. and the USA ended slavery and paid for our original 500,000 with 620,000 dead in the civil war. Modern history revisionist tend to blame USA for slavery and that is not true.
dbohnenkamper 2 months ago
@dbohnenkamper With respect, England never had slaves. There were slaves in its colonies, but the English abolished Its colonial slavery, long before the US did. The US population in 1790 was 3.9 million, 700,000 of which were slaves. By 1865, there were 4 million slaves. The import of blacks never had an original amount per se, it was incremental. US slavery cannot be blamed on europeans. Most northern soldiers fought to 'preserve the union' not to end slavery, many held very racist views.
spader49 2 months ago
@spader49 England brought the original 500,000 slaves to the US. Europe brought 16.5 million africans slaves to the new world. France alone over 6 million. AFRICAN SLAVERY AND SLAVERY IN THE US IS THE FAULT OF EUROPE. The US Constitution said the country could not vote as a country on slavery for 20 years after it was ratified. But individual states could vote any time. England received a copy and that is why they ended their slave trade in 1808 because they knew we would vote to end it.
dbohnenkamper 2 months ago
@spader49 You are right England did not have slaves so it was easy for them to abolish slavery at the same time they abolished their African slave trade. The US on the other hand abolished the slave trade a few months after England but we had to fight a civil war to end the practice. A PRACTICE THAT IS THE FAULT OF EUROPE NOT THE US!. The C W started as a fight to preserve the Union but it ended as a fight to free the slaves. The US ended slavery. France ended slave trade in 1858!
dbohnenkamper 2 months ago
@dbohnenkamper Your argument is weak: is Europe responsible for literally everything that happened after the 1620s? Not just slavery but America's achievements as well? were the first Europeans not 'Americans'? Is a parent responsible for everything his/her child does as an adult, like murder? the slave trade was abolished by British in 1807, and in its colonies in the 1830s. The Consitution did not deal with the issue of slavery at all. In the US, the internal slave trade continued till 1865.
spader49 2 months ago
@spader49 NO YOUR ARGUEMENT IS WEAK AS SHIT! Europe in wholly and completely responsible for African slavery in the US and in the New World. The US Constitution is responsible for the end of African Slavery. The US is responsible for the end of slavery. As much as you wish this is not a fact. IT IS A FACT! And democrats were the slave owners and Democrats are the KKK. And democrats were against Civil Rights and it is the dems holding the blacks back cause the dems control education.
dbohnenkamper 2 months ago
@dbohnenkamper I sent you are much more thorough rebuke. Did you read it or not? In a nutshell, there were slaves in Africa before Europeans; slavery existed before people would read. More slaves held by blacks in Africa than by whites in the Americas. The view: 'The US Constitution is responsible for the end of African Slavery' is pure nonsense. Any evidence? Its not even responsible for ending Slavery in the US, nevermind Africa. You dont seem able to understand facts.
spader49 2 months ago
@spader49 No one said that African Slavery was the first form of slavery or that slavery did not exist before that....BUT TRANS ATLANTIC AFRICAN SLAVERY IN THE NEW WORLD.... 16,500,000 SLAVES BROUGHT TO NEW WORLD BY EUROPE is totally Europe's fault. Spain England France were the most guilty! It was state sponcered. Europe is responsible for slavery in America. The US is the only reason this practice ended. The US is responsible for ending this barbaric European practice started by europe!
dbohnenkamper 2 months ago
@spader49 Your rebuke as you call it is a joke! You asking me a question is not a rebuke. Article 1 section 9 of US Constitution banned the congress from voting to end the trans atlantic african slave trade until 1807. However individual states could vote at any time. The reason britton abolished the slave trade and slavery in 1807 is because they could read and they had a copy of the constitution. They did not want to be embarrased by the upstart usa so they got a several month head start.
dbohnenkamper 2 months ago
@spader49 You suddenly mixing in the fact that slavery continued in the us after the us banned the trans atlantic slave trade is not a rebuke it is you getting off topic. So The US Constitution is responsible for the ending of the trans atlantic african slave trade. 16,500,000 african slaves that europe brought to the new world is significant. The US constitution is responsible for bringing that to an end. Article 1 section 9. The Civil War and 550,000 US dead Ended Slavery 13th ammendment.
dbohnenkamper 2 months ago
@dbohnenkamper During the formation of the constitution during the 1780s, the issue of slavery was not dealt with as most northerners knew that the south would not join the Union otherwise; the ban on the international slave trade was envisaged to be reopened in 1808, as a compromise to the South, places like Virginia and South Carolina. Slavery became entrenched after the constitution in the 1820s and 30s. The Union had no intention to abolish slavery in 1807 or before/after, not in the south.
spader49 2 months ago
@spader49 In 1792, the British voted for the 'gradual' abolition of slavery, the 1807 and 1833 acts were the products of this. Its an amusing theory that the 1807 act in the US prompted the UK to do their own. No evidence. You dont mind taking credit for what the British did in abolishing colonial Slavery, and blame everything on 'Europe', while the South, independent, kept millions of slaves, never brought over, but made in the South.
spader49 2 months ago
@spader49 Article 1 Section 9 put a restriction on the new country USA that it could not as a country vote to end slavery or the slave trade until 20 years after ratification. Individual states could vote to end slavery at anytime. The Civil War STARTED because southern stated were LEAVING. When The Civil War ENDED it was about the morality of slavery. The 13th Ammendment followed. The US paid for its sin of slavery with 550,000 dead. What did Europe pay for starting this practice? zero!
dbohnenkamper 2 months ago
@dbohnenkamper I already told you 620,000 died during the civil war. Without slavery there would have been no civil war. The bulk of the US slaves were brought over or made in the South by Americans. The southern states all wanted to kept slavery as alive as an institution. Lincoln did not want a biracial society but rather racial apartheid, as did most notherners. The constitution did not stop or intend to, the US internal slave trade. The founding fathers did not intend it, like Jefferson.
spader49 2 months ago

@dbohnenkamper As Lincoln said in 1859:
I have no purpose, directly or indirectly to interfere with the institution of slavery in the states where it exists'. And then in 1862:
'But for your race among us there could not be war, although many men engaged on either side do not care for you one way or the other. Nevertheless, I repeat, without the institution of Slavery and the colored race as a basis, the war could not have an existence. It is better for us both, therefore, to be separated'.

Article 1 Section 9 forced England to end The Slave Trade in 1807 a few months before US congress voted to end the practice. The US Civil War ended Slavery.
Acharn2 1 year ago
This guy did more to destroy the study of economics than anybody since Robert Samuelson distorted Keynes. His zealot disciples turned Chile into hell on earth, and he's never admitted how much human suffering his theories have caused. worse than Greenspan.
Acharn2 1 year ago
@Acharn2 Hmmm, interesting. Milton Freedom = nobel prize winner and celibrated economist. Acharn2 of You Tube = um err, heck who knows. I wonder who should be listened to?
faithandpractice 1 year ago
@Acharn2 Actually, you are right his theories have caused suffering, but not what you think. Their true act of cruelty is the propping up of the Federal Reserve as a social engineering device. Think 0% interest rates and you've got it.
nikkiyo93 1 year ago
@Acharn2
If you assume everything Friedman advocated is wrong, well do you hold the standard on the books you read or the ideas you heard?
flynn2008 8 months ago
@flynn2008 Have to answer in two parts. (1) I don't say everything he advocated is wrong, (2) I say some of the things he advocated produced brutal dictatorship, widespread corruption, and vast human suffering. I think he knew very well what his students did in Chile and Russia. He may or may not have approved, but the results came directly from applying his teachings. He preached freedom, and his doctrines led directly to despotism.
Acharn2 8 months ago

Anyway ... useless debate as capitalists brainwashed people don't even know what Socialism is (its everything belonging to the state), and he mos of time they call socialists people who want to have private businesses just not eg. healthcare, or are just more socialy friendly.
pozorovatelblbu 9 months ago
@pozorovatelblbu here's the definition of socialism that most people would agree is being referenced here.
- a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole -
Of course, "the community as a whole" usually means a central government.
I oppose anyone telling me what I can & cannot do with my life, my liberty, or my property.
franksballad 6 months ago
@franksballad So could you tell me why capitalists (people who believe in capitalism) call socialist everyone who wants just some (not all) e.g. part of economy controlled by state? If someone doesn't want homeless people ... i see it this way that a free market is very important for society but not in every area of life or economy because it goes against suvereignity and wellfare of citizens. Why capitalists call people who want free healthcare for everyone socialist?
pozorovatelblbu 6 months ago
@franksballad That's fukken awesome....
sixtiksix 7 months ago
@franksballad well you can also argue that in socialism, people are forced by political power but in capitalism people are forced by economical power.
defactowood 7 months ago
@defactowood actually it's about needs & desires.
If I need vegetables or want some steaks, but I only build furniture I'm going to find a farmer or rancher that needs a table & some chairs. We would figure out what the furniture is worth compared to the food. Because in a true free market only the ones involved in the transaction determine the worth of the goods or services.

Reagan's policies successfully re instituted segregation.

rickbar123 1 year ago
@rickbar123 In the weirdest way, when I read your response, it seems like the argument could be made that machines own us, and not vice versa. Ideas came before the system, and eventually created the system. I always see it with common logic that we made the tool, not the other way around. The tool serves our needs, and should always be that way. We are the creator (god) of the system (tool).
Polarcupcheck 1 year ago
@BurnBeforeEating The problem with rickbar's comment is that he is, essentially, saying that because you benefit to some degree by an immoral and unjust system, you should not fight against it regardless of morality and justice. If this were nazi germany, how could you be against the fascist/socialist government, since only through their grace does one receive education and bus transport. Exactly how would a slave be justified in wanting freedom, when he is so well fed...
lucentenor 1 year ago

Stay tuned.

BrideAndGroomFilmsHD 1 year ago
@BrideAndGroomFilmsHD: Labor is only one component of wealth creation. You also need capital and in many cases the entrepreneur. Marxism eats capital by "spreading it around". It's like eating next years cropseed. Poverty is the norm. Prosperity is an aberration. Poverty can only be eliminated by prosperity. Pollution can only be eliminated by prosperity. The Left is toxic: it destroys whatever it touches. The bigger the government, the smaller the citizen. Citizens are demeaned by handouts.

It is called comparative advantage. Our economy here in the U.S. has shifted away from low skill type of work, such as call center operators, light manufacturing and other mundane tasks, to highly skilled / knowledge base type of work.
noelnavarro 2 years ago
