  • 4:09

  • you guys don't have your own custom shop do you?

  • The Hives !

  • I actually prefer "wrong" Alice Cooper!

  • to everyone wondering what the song is at 1:05 its 'Hate To Say I Told You So' By The Hives :)

  • whats the song he plays at 1:05 ? :)

  • @Kwitband The Drills - From the Future

  • @doknero Thank you! :D

  • what is the song at the beginning??

  • what song is he playing from 1:04?????

  • I owned one of these bought in 1962 in Plymouth ,England as the guitar in this video except White in colour .My first good guitar ,owned many guitars since but this was the best ,great for all music in the 60s .Regretted selling it but needs must ,kids etc. This is a good demo and much praise to Phil X ,good job .Very versatile guitar ,rock ,blues,50s/60s rock'n'roll even country.

  • Nice pickguard!

  • hey, have u any video of a Gibson marauder?

  • What's the titled of the song played at 1:05 please ?

  • "he uses these and uh.... another thing" love that!

  • can you please review the red Gibson Les Paul with the three golden pick ups

    PLEASE

  • some old school funk... dude, i love that guy!

  • I'm swedish. It's really awesome to hear the hives on the phil x show!

  • Whats that song at 1 10 again?

  • @BobbyGuitarHynd Hate to say i told you so from The Hives -Veni Vidi Vicious..

  • was Phil using a MIC Bad Monkey or an older MIA one? thank you.

  • where can i find a tonemaster?

  • @motorhead1995able please email me at debra at frettedamericana dot com for details

  • @frettedamericana i have gone

  • @frettedamericana the reissue of the wilshire is pretty much the same guitar as this what is the difference between the vintage wilshire and this

  • @MrFenderbender97 The headstock of the Wilshire is more like a Firebird reversed. The Crestwood has the common Gibson headstock, on an Epiphone, which I love on most Epiphones.

  • @motorhead1995able using time travel. buy an evil robot its the remake of it

  • That's an awfully sexy Sweet Child. Damn.

  • 10 are not rockers

  • why did gibson have to buy out epiphone? these 60s epiphones had such uniquely beautiful tone. it seems like every modern guitar company aims for gibson's tone. Epiphone had that crisp originality, and they seem so playable.

  • Dude i really like to see you playing a Epiphone SG G400 Cherry Red

and hear what you think of it... pleasy dont forget the G400 ;) Rock On!!

  • it is really sad that one great guitar has been stolen ... but i want to know how much pays the person qho bought it for the guitar

  • at 1:49 i just melted. that neck pickup is divine.

  • how much is it???

  • how bout you do that wine-red 3-pickup les paul-looking guitar on his right there, at 5:26?

  • first song, hives - hate to say it told you so for all the people asking :P

  • Fretted open to the public cos im vistin fam in T.O. just upthe street

  • @MoongrassNoel We aren't open to the public - only by appointment. Please call first (818).222.4113. Thanks.

  • Vintage epiphone are the best sounding Gibson guitar period

  • bring the tone master back !!!

  • 4:35 hahahaha thats hilarious. I love how he never misses a beat but he screws up lyrics all the time haha

  • lol everytime he says two mini humbuckers i think hes saying too many humbuckers

  • its Gibsons fault that now epiphone sucks. they should of never bought epiphone. their old american archtops smoke everything new that gibson is doing.

  • Does gibson still make these?

  • whats that fist song u play??

  • At the beginning where Phil says, "Two mini PAF pickups", I initially misheard it as "Too many PAF pickups", which didn't make a lot of sense.

As always, nice guitar and nice playing.

  • This guitars amazing

  • Better than SGs!

  • a lot of money behind you ! :}

  • is this epiphone brand the same that remakes the old EB-O?

  • @brainstormer9

YES and NO. This Epiphone and the original Epiphones were made in the US. Gibson bought Epiphone in the late 50s. From then up until the end of the 60s Epiphones were made side by side with GIbson's in Kalamazoo Michigan. After that production went overseas and the guitars were made to a lower price point save for a few models like the elitist and Japanese Domestic models.

  • wow is it just me or does this sound better than most modern gibsons you hear.

  • Just when I was gonna bitch about never hearing PhilX do any Guns N' Roses he breaks out some Sweet Child. More Please!

  • Looks like a 62 wilshire

  • this guy is hilarious

  • WHOLE LOTTA ROSIE!!!!

  • what song on 1.05-17?

  • Dude... after the first strum I thought I'm listening to foxy lady :D

  • i like that white part on the body, and that bigsby. i wonder what it would look like on an SG

  • ive got a question for you guys.

are your really valuable guitars like ur 59 lps or your 69 strats hanging up on the wall. Or are they locked up.

  • @GoHabs13 some are hangin and some are locked away!

  • do you let just anybody play a valuable guitar?

  • @GoHabs13 Phil isn't just anybody.

  • @frettedamericana What are the most valuable Strats out there?

  • @GoHabs13 some are hangin and some are locked away!

  • @frettedamericana I think he is planning a robbery:o

  • @frettedamericana You guys should be open to the public :( i wanna play a 54 strat and literally like play some Buddy Holly on it

  • @GoHabs13 u planin on robbing them

  • you rock man!

  • Phil X. You are one wild and crazy guy and I think you were put here on this planet to keep us all grounded in some really crazy way. I think... You are insanely crazy at what you do and I would love it if you could turn these vintage guitar vignettes into weekly TV shows. I parked some friends of mine in front of my laptop to watch some of these vids, and they (both male & female) freaked and loved you. You are one brilliant wacky guy. Best to you. ;^)

  • please make a review for a epiphone les paul 2010 tribute!!!!!!!

  • i like the later 60's crestwoods more, but this still sounds killer. the neck pickups on these things WAIL if you let them. i think the '68 is maybe the most underrated guitar out there.

  • is this your shop? or are you an employe?

  • yeah the hives and ac/dc !

  • somethin somethin somethin else now XD hilarious, but awesome

  • that is such an awesome guitar.

  • omg thats sick vigilante carlstrome from the hive :D

  • who would buy either the tone master or the ac 30 and ruin Phil X's demos?? i wouldn't just because they are so cool!

  • @slashthebestone

I think the Tonemaster is actually Phil's. I could be wrong, but he shows it off in the tour video of his amps, and it's featured in the "gear" section of Phil's website.

I'd hate it if anyone bought teh Tonemaster =[

  • I liked the attempt at "Hate to say I told you so"

Did it wrong but it still sounded good :p

  • Phil man ur so good like i whatch atleast one of these every day and each time u say bad monkey it makes me wanna go out and get one stop hypnotizin me MAN!

  • Hey the riff you did at 5:00 mins into the video can you tap it please?? I really like the sound of it and would love to learn it. Thanks.

  • @LegoKid92 Dude thats sweet child o mine, you should know that man, it can't be tapped.

  • Sorry to have to tell you this, but you're getting it wrong again... It's actually NOT a b major chord right after the first riff, but a b minor chord. Sorry. Otherwise great of course. /Fapp

  • @ larkfapp

if you're talking about "no more mister nice guy" i'm not playing a B major chord right after the first riff. that would mean you'd be hearing a D# which you ain't but nice try being mr. right guy.

  • this one sounds reaaaally nice!

  • I think I see a Surf Green Strat in the background... when you gonna play that one, dude? I adore Strats in Surf Green :)

Or is it the Daphne Blue one you already played? Kinda hard to tell from my monitor :P

  • Does this guy drink alot of coffee?

  • phil! what's the song you play from 1:55 to 2:07

  • I love the sound of those old epis . Killer.

  • @HelterSkelter73 Im dyslexic and i ready that "I love the sound of that old penis"

  • phil rocks !!!!

  • Dude, I'd do anything for a recording of that Drills song in the beginning.

I especially love the noise you make after the first "I'm from the fu-u-u-u-ture".

    The "Bdldldldldldl!".

    It's fantastic.

It's also impossible to write phonetically.

  • hahahahahahah. thanks man. the cd will be on itunes in a couple of weeks.

  • GOOD NEWS!!! The Drills cd will be on itunes in about 6 weeks. well... the 6 weeks part sucks but the tunes being available to the public kicks ass.

  • was this before epiphone was bought by gibson?

  • no this is epiphone version of the gibson SG in 62-67

  • i like you playin the high hat lol

  • "Everytime it was a guess, and evertyme it was Bullseye!"

    Made my day :D!

  • I really like the funk sound of it.

And the "really screwed it up" Whole Lotta Rosie" is fun too.

  • hahaha that guys son coool hes great hes the man

  • that looks and sounds NICE!

  • great demo as always, phil rocks:)

btw, what acdc does he play here ?

  • Its called Wholle Lotta Rosie.

  • How are those pickups being held in? It kinda looks like the screws are gone. Cool guitar and awesome video!

  • the ringmounts. look 25 seconds into the video. the black things around the pickups.

  • Phil X is the man....

    Every vidz a bulls eye!!!

    Good stuff bro...

  • Legend

  • Haha.. Funny videos.. =P I'll subscribe now..

  • what's the song he plays at 1:55

  • errytime was a guess - and errytime was a bullzeyye

  • what's the song he plays at 1:55?!

  • What's the quality like on those old Epis? The ones you have done all sound great, yet the modern ones except for the Elitists are lacking.

  • I love these videos! Phil X is the perfect guy to do them.

  • man that was awesome do y'all have any epiphone scrolls I would love to hear a review of that since they are so rare or a epiphone spotlight.

  • Hey Phil! You're really a Jukebox men!! ^^

Where I Can Found The Drills Music?

    Sorry For My English

    You ROck Phil X!

  • The vids are too short !!! I want more !

I didn't know this guitar. By the way nice sound and playing as always. Keep on rocking the oldies !! :-D

  • great demo!

  • When are the Drills playing out in NYC??? If not, then they need to.

  • Damn phil, I idolize everything you do man. great play, great guitars, great job!

  • YEAHH The Hives!! keep on rockin' phil

  • Been watching these vids for a few weeks now. Phil is such a likable guy and a great musician.

  • what are you using to switch between the 2 amps?

  • this day, a morley A/B/both box. also known as A/B/Y

  • phil x what are your thoughts on cort guitars

  • he probably plays only vintage guitars.

  • uh... no. i play vintage guitars for fretted americana videos and for some sessions. live, i play ESP vipers because they kick ass and take a beating. 1 with a gibson P94, 1 with a seymour duncan alnico pro ll and 1 with a duncan distortion. i used these for avril lavigne's 2nd cd and the P94 viper is all over the first daughtry cd along with a '58 LP jr, '69 tele, '60's gagliano hollow body and '79 LP custom.

  • i love my ESP!

    i have the EC-401vf

  • hey phil next time you play a les paul why not do the sweet child of mine solo?

  • i think they're well made. it's all about what you want to do. if you're a closet rocker and just play for pleasure, this guitar will be fine. if you want to go out and play with a band or do sessions, it might not cut it.

  • phil is the viper pretty versatile or is it just a metal head?

are the ltd models decent is well?

  • I already love this guitar

  • Sweet guitar! Nice host.

  • wich song is that from ac/ dc ??

  • that was Whole Lotta Rosie, but I think you play it wrong Phil, but guitar & play great as always
