The writer and director of the Digimon Tamers anime wanted to include the Ryo character, specifically because he was an original Digimon "hero" in Japan, due to this game. He was apparently really popular after this game came out.

It's not a parallel dimension. XD The 1st and 2nd seasons being tv shows in Tamers, was made up for the dub. I guess so kids could relate to the series better or something.

Lol, anyway... Just some fun trivia.
