Yeah, beyond blazing board.......chris bystom produced the best surf vids from the mid-late '80's. I have most of them on VHS but I couldn't find beyond blazing boards, sooo bummed, just the greatest sound track!!!
"Beyond Blazing Boards" Epic surf flick with best music and footage. The spot featuring this song is Pdang Pdang. 'Rumor has it that spot is so good that they had to name it twice". Clips are available on YOUTUBE. Where's my wax.
how does a band that is supposedly a "revival ska band" steal its name from an actual good ska band? Listen to the real Untouchables track Tighten Up for music that doesnt suck.
Love this song...i've be searching for the video to this song. Never found it and the song if found it , but the original lead singer of The U.T.'s is singing it...not Jerry Miller (I think he's the guy singing lead on "What's Gone Wrong"!) He is so sexy too!
Damn, I forgot about these cats...Is that Twan Vu on sax and Danny and Rayan Monehan(SP?) in the horn sections? I worked with a band called the J-Walkers and we would open for the The Untouchbales and Fishbone. Fun Bands and great musicians.
I used to catch The Untouchables at the Palace in Hollywood around 85 and 86. I also used to run into those guys around L.A. all the time and they were totally cool.
Hey mrphutman--I had the same experiences during those years but I was in the bay area--We used to catch them at The Keystone in Palo Alto pretty regularly and later with Fishbone.
I used to love Fishbone as well. I saw them many times, and just like the Untouchables, I'd run into the guys from Fishbone around town all the time, and they were totally cool. Man, those were some fun days.
I saw UT many times back in the day. Magic Mountain was a favorite, as well as the Devonshire Downs. However, I missed the show that I really wanted to see, NYE at the Santa Monica Civic supporting my fav band, Boingo. Nevertheless, great band...
the best was the L.A. street scene-'85/'86 and they played in front of 10k peeps and front of the mayors office. then UB40 played the next day. that was a great event.
...influence was "mod"...this band was a Ska influenced AMERICAN rock band....combining elements of Ska, Reggae, Funk and elements of the Euro-Ska-Movement....don't hold onto categories so hard.....release the grip luv....
and that is the WORST song i have ever heard in my life ... that is not mod at all, check out the birds or the early who or the small faces when you wanna hear mod
danielpeterpresberge, around 81-82 the first Untouchables line-up was as a mod band. No one is alleging that this song or this incarnation of the band is "mod".
I used to check out these guys every Friday night when they were the On Klub house band. Of course that was the original lineup...1980-81 I think....great times. Why do bands carry on with one or no original members..??
I will never forget the night that the UT's played our high school grad night in 89! I saw them about 12 times live, I was so stoked to find this video! They are such a fund ska band, thanks for the memories!
I got into this band when I noticed that they were produced by one of the members of the Coventry ska group - the Specials. A very different bad from them but an interesting American version of ska
MY ABSOLUTE FAV SONG BY THE UNTOUCHABLES!!! I remember them in concert (or should I say wishing I could've gone) Still in love with the guy singing lead! ;-)
