  • The guy looks like a Ken doll. I mean, perfection or what! Not a single micromovement out of place. And no, the girl does not like a Barbie doll, thank goodness.....

  • The choreography itself is medallist level.

    The performance level is stellar.

We can all run after a fashion, but few can do the 100m under 10 secs.

  • obviously professional level. how can anyone having any idea about ballroom dancing say that this might NOT be slowfox lol

  • Just waiting for someone to trip and the laugh track.

    1:31 I am disappoint.

  • That music is not Foxtrot. Fever? It's got a latin Tangana rhythm - I don't get it.

  • Woman: Look at the spots on the walls! No, seriously!

  • anyone know who made this version of fever? thanks

  • I love her shoes :-))))

  • hEy_åNy_gûys_wÁñt_tÒ_chät_wìth_mè

  • Wedding dance lessons tonight! I just went from kinda excited to down right worried! These two are amazing!!

  • Whats the song to this dance

  • @TheNewSonic102 "Fever". It's been done by many artists, most notably perhaps by Peggy Lee. Not sure which version this is.

  • @jrabfalafel Thank you

  • al mio paese questo è uno slofox

  • @Super123cookie MAN you crazy its pure art and expression moving rght there

  • WHY ssoo SSERIOUSS??

  • Basic means syllabus figures only. The fact that these people have gone way beyond gold level gives them more technique to throw into syllabus figures to make it look more difficult.

  • a little different level of "intimacy" than blues dancing, maybe more skill required too

  • THIS IS BASIC??! well there is no way i'll be able to learn this by friday.

  • I know that's how it's supposed to be done, but the way she's turning her head so awkwardly back and away just really bugs me...

  • D'où viens cette attitude ou la femme ce penche en arrière ?

  • Super harmonie

  • Whoever here doesn't understand what they're doing, think it's stupid in comparison to their club dances, or think it's ridiculous, please acknowledge the following:

The dance they're doing is the International Standard Foxtrot. It is one of five dances in the International Standard style. All of these dances have existed for MANY years and have actual technique written for them in books that have been revised over time. This is really unlike any other dance styles out there.

  • The lady turned LAYING ON HER HEELS at 0:45. Oh dear!! Wow.

  • what is the name of the song?

  • @wandermanchip it is fever... probably Michael Buble not sure.. A lot of people sung that song...

  • @wandermanchip

    Fever

  • what is name of the song? please

  • i like her ass

  • Doesnt matter what do they dance. These figures are supposed to be simple enough to reveal what is important to do slowfox. I think they perform it in very pure way. Those who can`t appreciate it should try to dance it like this. Mirko and Alessia can dance for hours in front of you but it is individual wether you understand it or not. Same for any other basic video from any other dancers.

  • bahaha i might be an ignorant 15 year old girl who's only dance education was categorized under "the stanky leg" or "the jerk" but i REALLY think they could do better...NO NO NO dont take it the wrong way. THEY ARE AMAZING. i just think it's a little slow for my idea of a "foxtrot" D:

  • lol, this is the first time a see this typ of dance, LOL xD , I only dance to Metal, Hardcore, Techno/Industrial and lol, that is way way different, but I woundt mind dancing this with me girlfriend (if i had one) xD

  • it is SLOWFOX!!!..not foxtrot

  • this is a slofox.

  • Wow, this is just awesome. Really great to watch, i enjoyed it a lot:)

  • lady looks kinda dead

  • I think it's great that professional like them can do a basic foxtrot like that . I really enjoy this.

  • As hard as I'm trying, I honestly cannot pick up the Slow Foxtrot beat in this music. I'm almost tempted to think that the dancers are actually performing to another number and this one has been dubbed on for our benefit.

  • Dear boy or girl..you are absoluuutely on the button.. ! At the dance class I attend the teacher, who is superb is every other respect, plays the most inappropriate music to the dances and it throws me completely. I suspect that teachers feel they have to play modern "acceptable" music to entice younger people into learning how to ballroom dance...

  • It varies from dance to dance. Much contemporary pop music lends itself to the Latin dances and Cole Porter's music is still sufficiently attractive and romantic to keep the Slow Foxtrot alive. Most people like Waltz-rhythm ballads and the Argentine Tango craze has breathed life into its ballroom cousin. The Quickstep always had the lousiest music of all dances and has dated disastrously. At my ballroom club we are occasionally even expected to dance it to the theme from The Muppet Show!

  • it's correct... step on 2,3, 4and when the next step starts with a slow.

  • I'm sure you're right, just as I'm sure I can't hear it. Either way, it's a lousy choice of music for a demonstration like this.

  • lol you should listen to more music

  • I do and will, but not this kind of crap!

  • @Czerniakowska

I'm inclined to agree. I prefer the Peggy Lee version.

  • check out the timing video for this dance and that should help a bit. also, the further you get in dance the more you understand that there is late rise, early rise and ect. that kind of makes the timing look different but its not.

  • Really?

I think the beat is very clear - very nice sloxfox-music in my opinion :)

  • Well, we're all different. We like what we like, and to me this particular music is total crap and inappropriate for the Slow Foxtrot.

  • Of course we are :) Wouldn't it be borring if we all were similar and had the same opinions... :)

  • I believe you're thinking of the social foxtrot.

  • I love her dress

  • Yo people. This is not a foxtrot, but a slowfox.

    Sandeep

  • Slowfox as in Slow Foxtrot. I.e.: foxtrot.

  • bleaaaaaa... Fabio lo balla meglio

  • These videos without the original music kind of suck. The music isn't matched to the original dancers movements well at all.

  • a woman sings it normaly . it sounds muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch better that way when a woman sings it. every tues and thurs i dance the real dance to it.

  • It's actually Natural Zig Zag from PP after the Outside Swivel.

  • i like the original song then this one it isnt tht good to me i like the old one really

  • Feather, Reverse Turn, 3Step, Natural Turn, Closed Impetus, Feather Finish, Hover Telemark, Feather, Bounce Fallaway with Weave Ending, 3Step, Hover Cross, Reverse Turn, Feather Finish, Fallaway Reverse and Slip Pivot, Reverse Turn, Basic Weave, Fallaway Reverse and Slip Pivot, Reverse Turn, Reverse Wave, Weave Ending, Open Telemark, Natural Turn, Outside Swivel, Feather Ending, Open Telemark, Curved Feather to Back Feather, Feather Finish, Top Spin, Closed Telemark, Change of Direction (more)

  • Feather, Fallaway Reverse and Slip Pivot, Right Lunge

  • he is not doing a feather bounce fallaway...He is doing a fallaway slip pivot into a weave ending.......

  • I take it back,,,You are correct..It is a bounce fallaway....sorry about that

  • That was a closed telemark before the curved feather, not an open telemark...

  • I must correct ur syllabus of steps...Before the curved feather, it is a closed telemark and not an open telemark..The reason is that an open telemark puts one in promenade position and to do a curved feather, one must be in a closed position....

  • @drlove9999999 Your right that it is a closed telemark. However you can do a curved feather from an open telemark (promenade position); it is listed and described so in the standard ISTD book of technique and steps by Alex Moore.

  • Yes, that is true also....However, it is somewhat difficult from an open promenade position for the man must close the girl before commencing the curved feather...If u view this video again, you will see that he initially performs what appears to be an open telemark, but he quickly closes it so that the woman can step back on her right foot to then follow it with a curved feather...I think what u have just described in Alex Moores technique book is exactly what the couple here are doing...

  • @drlove9999999 I guess it is a matter of experience, but I have never found it difficult to close the girl from promenade on the first step of a curved feather. As far as the video goes, there is no question that they are dancing a closed telemark because Alessia's third step in the telemark is back. If it were an open telemark it would be taken forward in promenade position. You might think that it looks like an open promenade because of her head shaping but that is simply an optional style.

  • I was merely agreeing with ur initial assessment.... I was expressing what i perceived u to believe was happening when u wrote the steps down...Iam not condemning you, I was merely agreeing with what u wrote looked like (open telemark) and then explaining why it was a closed telemark instead..I agree with ur new assessment completely...I hope u dont take my comment personally...It was never meant to begrudge you...Sorry if I offended you....

  • @drlove9999999 Its embarrassing that I mis-identified it to begin with =( But I understand the context of your post now. Thanks for your encouragement =)

  • @promenadepanda and that is a gold routine, because if slip pivot..

  • hello everyone... can anyone here post the names of figures in this video? tnx

  • Dance can never be learnt in five minutes, even the basic. In fact the 'basic' is the hardest to perfect even through years and years of dancing, dancers still work on their basic. There is no easy ultimate goal, there is always an improvement. These dancers howevevr make it look very nice and elegant. I think if people want to criticise then they must try to dance themselves first because good dancers make the dance look effortless

  • It is hard to imagine that this used to be a jazz-dance...

  • I don´t like it, because theay move so extemly up and down. It doesn´t look good...

  • Wonderful! Now all the world knows that you understand really nothing about standard dances! Greetings... :-))

  • I look at 'basic' as the box step, with a different variation of count. More advanced, as here, has gliding, different count, looks similar to waltz, and more elegant..

  • Mirko and Alessia are making this "basic" in the sense of up to and including 'Gold' standard. However, "basic" might cause viewers to imagine both that it's possible to learn this in five minutes and that the dance is the same as the American "Social" Foxtrot, which can be learnt in five minutes. The same confusion arises as regards the International Tango and the Argentine Tango. The Samba is indeed a tricky dance. I think I've either lost my "bounce" or never had one in the first place.

  • is this called fever by any chance.?

  • It's something like 75% syllabus, that's fairly basic. However, it's borderline impossible to make it look that good.

  • Oh dear, we've had arguments over the word "basic" in respect of other dance clips and here we go again! What Mirko and Alessia are demonstrating here will undoubtedly be "basic" to them, but the Slow Foxtrot happens to be the most difficult dance in the world. If anyone watching this clip thinks they could achieve this supposedly "basic" level in five minutes, or even five months, they're destined for disappointment. Take it from me guys, this ain't basic!

  • 'Basic' are only the figures, as the figures are called...but Mirko and Alessia can dance a simple right turn as all people in the world never could dance it after spend a whole life studying standard dance.

I am an italian standard dancer and I was so lucky to take some lesson from Mirko and Alessia before they began world champions..wonderful!!

  • @Czerniakowska it took me 40 min to learn properly with the swaying and rising and all them guudies so come on im 16 yrs old so its really not that hard

  • @ZacharyKoehl

Clever old you! Just stay alive kid and you'll learn over the years that all manner of things become harder to master than they did when you were 16. You're clearly a genius, anyway, since you have somehow managed to become two years younger than you were when you joined Youtube. Personally, I never succeeded in mastering time travel.

  • @Czerniakowska <<What he/she is trying to say is that this includes advanced footwork from all levels of the syllabus.

However, this is a "basic" foxtrot because all of the figures they perform here are within syllabus (student teacher, associate, licentiate, fellow or prebronze ,bronze, silver, gold if that's how you prefer to call them) and can be found in The Ballroom Technique.

  • I hate that I cant just be as good as them. They totaly make me sick.

  • It makes me sick how good they are. I'm gona go thro-
