The foredeck of my sloop, a glass of La Crema pinot noir, the sun setting in a golden sky, on my mooring in Cat Harbor and Stan Getz.....doe not get any better!!!
Put one of the greatest sax players with one of the greatest songs and you have instant magic. Wish I could play like this, well me and every other 'phonist
@Supremee022 I got the pic off some random sites off google but i still have them with me if you want. Cant really assure you about copyright infringements though.
I have already owned this CD "Bob Brookmyer and friends", but I'm sorry to tell you that the song you posted are not from this album exactly. It's played by both of Getz and Chet, and until now I'm also not very sure which album has this song inside?
stan getz por mucho el mejor saxsofon tenor del siglo xx hermosa cancion , exelente interpretacion.........ssaludos a todos los amantes de la buena musica como el jazz
Please check my Dad out! He plays Misty on his B3 PLEASE!!! Look up: HERBIETHEBARBER plays MISTY
Please rate! I know it's not comparable to this... but he's always loved Misty.. and so have I. He puts his own twist on it... as all great Jazz musicians...
I don't know half of the guys pictured here! What's more interesting is that Getz and Brookmeyer are not pictured at all. I got my first saxophone from Stan Getz! He gave it to my father for me but then when Buffet found out that Getz wasn't playing (and endorsing) it, my father had to go pay for it.
@TheJazzydrummer What's even more interesting than the fact that Stan Getz and Bob Brookmeyer not being pictured here is the pointless boast of yours. We'd rather that you talk about the music you heard here instead of telling us how many Jazz players you know and who gave you your Sax.
@rogeredtabbit it's alright isn't it. Doesn't matter whether it's true or not but if I get a sax from Stan Getz himself I would treasure it, tell it's tale to the world and play it with pride :) God I love Jazz more and more. It just never dies.
@vyzel I wouldnt mind the tale of the saxophone really, its just the comment that it started with about how he doesnt know half the guys there. When i put this video up, i didnt know the album and it just said 'Misty' by Stan Getz with some random Jazz pics. But with the constant requests to know which album this was, i changed the info on the video. And now because of that i've been putting up with a lot of shit on this video.
@rogeredtabbit i see i see. Actually I have it in my iTunes and it's under Chet Baker & Stan Getz. Though there's a version where Stan Getz & Dave Brubeck plays together as well.
@vyzel Yup. There must be tons of versions since Jazz folk didnt really attach themselves to labels but to music instead. So there are a lot of good jams of the same around. I happened to find this from someone who got it from some torrent and i posted it up here and at the time there was no Stan Getz Misty anywhere. I'm just glad to have people listen to the music. I however dont appreciate a lecture, which happened over the above mentioned comments. Tough noogies i isuppose.
It's funny, I have been listening to Jazz for about ten years, starting at age 13 listening and I have never listened to Stan Getz until now, great soft, airy sound, love it
Great version of a great song. Maybe it's an age thing but Misty is anything but a "rare" song. It's a standard that is part of the repertoire of any Jazz musician.
@240soundwave Thank you so much :) I'm so glad i touched someone's soul, even a little bit.I haven't even prepared those words.I got enchanted and they slipped away..

Shows you don't have to grow your hair long, jump up and down and hyperventilate at the top of your lungs (in an American accent) and blow a million notes to make an impact. The rock-pop music industry wants to limit our purview to a small realm - which mostly consists of rock, pop and country. Like being in a prison with the jazz guys holding the keys being held back by the guards.

@randomsuper: This track can also be found on a compilation album called "The Lyrical Stan Getz" which also contains some other excellent tracks. It was the first Getz album I ever bought!
@rogeredtabbit Lol he was trying to sound all sophisticated and witty, but his questionable grammar skills and totally fail way to make comebacks just backfire horribly XD Great song, man.
I did not know that bricks could see even less that they had glasses,... except the ones in which they might drown themselves one of these days. Not to mention the fact that these glasses must have the same depth and glorious sophistication of their master's vocabulary and thinking.
