  • Er war ein Engel ... schade, daß er mit nur 40 Jahren verstorben ist.

  • Do you have the full video of his standing vertical test jump at the very start? That looked massive.

  • + respect for the song, love it!

  • WOW *:*

  • Unfortunately he was forced to stop athletics when he was only 20 years old due to knee injury. I can not imagine how high he could jumped if he was fit...

  • This is AMAZING !!!!

  • He's so elegant...

  • god.......

my house actually dragged me into high jump

i jumped the exact same way

anyway i won the gold but im glad to see that a professional uses this as well

  • Rollers just amaze me. I am compelled to wonder if he might have jumped higher by flopping.

  • thanks

  • That's amazing I can jump 1m 20

  • si luca6876 era un campione. pero la fine che a fatto poteva anche risparmiarsela.

What about people like kestutis shapka or Rustam Achmetov or olimpic champion juri Tarmak ?

  • Hi. i was 5 years younger then him. What i remember he was 1000 % focused on high jumping and he was extremely strong for doing this, that is why he went so high and i think 245-250 his potational

  • Un vero talento! Spettacolare.

  • spettacolare...senza parole...

  • What's the name of the this song?

  • music: Johann Pachelbels Canon in D major

  • After he made 2.35 in Italy - he jumped 2.40 during the practice!!!

  • Every admirer of Yash believe this, but what's your source?

  • I knew him personally. (Spent couple of years in sports camps - back in 1978).

  • This is phenomenal ! You were an activ high jumper in Yashchenkos most successfully saison. For witch country you started? Do you run a competition with him?

Can you remember any episodes (sad or beautiful) with Yash, that can be of special interest for all admirers of this mystical man?

  • I really fight my tears. This is so sad and inspiring.

    Thanks a lot.

  • great

    thank you

  • He was a great man.

    He's a symbol.

    He made me cry.

  • My friend that video was awsome! I thank you from my heart. I wasn't born when Brumel was a top athlete and I was a small kid when Yashchenko broke the world record. But there is a mystery about them that a cannot explain...

  • Yashchenko:(russian newspaper) ' I can not go on competitions. I want but cannot. Because I go to bed, and the dream does not go: mentally I run up, make a start, I clear the bar. And so till the morning: I jump, I jump... ' He was a sad man....

  • Brumel has a sad story also :(

  • Oh and whats the music??

  • Sounds like Pachabel's kanon.

  • This is amazing, it just about brought a tear to my eye! I've been wanting to see footage of Yashchenko for years, thanks so much for uploading this.

  • dito ;-)

  • WHERE DID YOU FIND THAT VIDEO!!!Awesome and thanks for sharing!!!The only tribute to Yashchenko on youtube. You are great Peyresourde.

  • Found this footage over Yashchenko yesterday evening on a website with old russian tv-streams. It was overwhelming and I started uploading the footage in the same night. I´m glad to share our passion for this magnificent straddler. He was ontop for only two short seasons but made 3 world records. After the records series of knee injurys ends his career and his tragically rest is history.

  • It was a great surprise for me!!But what an unlucky kid!You know he was playing with high jump!Even when he broke the world record in Italy he cleared 2,10 with the third try!

  • He jumped at that evening 20 times!!!!Any high jumper Knows that this is not normal!Mogenburg needs 8-10 jumps to win and that's it!

  • I jumped 17 times at WYC in Italy this year so I know how exhausting it is!

  • yes, I agree...even 17 jumps is way too much!! I bet that your best jumps were between 10th and 14th. But with Yashchenko we have the best jump at the 20th time !! (the last was at 2,35)

  • My best jump was my 14th at 2.20 but straddle jumpers are trained way different than flop jumpers.

  • Big respect for your medal on 2009 World Youth Championships in Brixen with 2.20m.

This is awesome high for a young man of 16 years (Yash jumped 2,12 m with age 16 !).

I`m very proud that you visited my Yashchenko Tribute on youtube and wish you all the best for the future.

  • Thank you :)

  • @Peyresourde what is a good high jump for a 6foot tall 15year old??cuz right now my highest is 5"10inches??
