this isnt a video of a landing. This is a video of an airplane rolling at high speed down the runway in the after touchdown configuration. For all we knew this plane never even flew.
There was not much snow that day. It was one of those typical-for-Vancouver snowfalls that make everything pretty and white for just a day or so. You get to see your footprints in the snow just once or twice, and then it's rain again. Except about once every 10 years, when the city gets its honest-to-goodness snowfalls and everybody takes pictures while they can. Oh, and of course they feed the birds, who are glad of the handouts.
I love the land on such a weather. Last year I've landed in a snow storm at OTP and did not even know the weather is so bad until we effectively landed... because I didn't see nothing at all on the window!
That is the airport where I saw my first A340, from Phillipines and one from CX. I also saw my first CX plane there, a 744, and my first Korean plane, also a 744. And I also say my first Lufthansa plane, an A330. I live in a place with a loser airport, so we don't get the good airlines. We're a Delta hub with no airlines from outside the US other than Air Canada Jazz. So I LOVE YVR!!!!!
i stand corrected, yah i guess it was the standard 200 series..anyways, im a member of their marco polo, so i enjoy little perks from cp, still love cp though..lol
@alicesprings84 I experienced it in December 2004 on Continental Airlines flight landing in snowy Cleveland, Ohio (coming from New York City's LaGuardia Airport). But my connecting flight to Cancun was delayed an hour due to massive de-icing. Good thing both of those flights were safe.

Its easy to see the most complicated part of the aircraft is its engines.

looks like the pilot did not apply any brakes!! took for ever to stop
ld8800 1 year ago
@ld8800 I don't think it's so smart to use full braking when the runway is paved with snow and some ice

I miss the Cathay A340 since they use B777-300ER to operate HKG - YYZ now..

Now CX uses the "34B" which has the new seats to YVR as CX 838/839 and the 777-300ER as CX 888/889 which goes to JFK too.

Don't tell me that the pilots had the spoilers on before touch down.
albeezy001 2 years ago
spoilers up23% at 3ft and fully deploys at complete touchdown. Same goes for the 330
issueagent 2 years ago
Spoilers are also used as air breakers or to create drag and reduced thrust...

Nah, it looks the plane was on the ground already

i hope cp will use their 340's for their u.s. flts for change, tired of 747's..lol
