  • is it normal that in my 2002 chevy cavalier i have to switch gears from 2nd to 1st in order for take off..if possible

  • my first car, 97 sunfire 2,2 5spd. ive never lost a race with it lol (only raced a dodge caliber and a volvo 870) but now im in the real world with my yzfr1. i was used to my moms camry so when i got the pontiac i was like wow and since ive ridden that r1 im more like yuck. i must admit my sunfire has the best sounding engine ever though! its pretty incredible, i beat it like were in a video game, any other car would be dead by now.

  • 11 seconds 0-60 good job......

  • pretty slow idk, my moms 2.2l saturn ls is about 7-8 seconds 0-60, but saturns are all plastic fenders so idk...

  • MY BLAZER WILL SMOKE THAT

  • @MegaElijah56

    Why thank you captain obvious.

  • @falaqdad15 well just sayn

  • @MegaElijah56 your blazer and my neon will smoke that but then again my neon isnt stock

  • thats a top cammer man

  • i would have to say that car has just been treated like crap and you don't know how to get it run great. i love my cavalier and its faster than that one for damn sure. Check my videos out

  • 0-60 mph in 13.2 seconds. That sucks SHIT!!! Cars from 1970 can do it in 8 seconds

  • sounds nice compared to mine. i have a 97 with 160k and it sounds like a steam pwered antique car.

  • I hit play feel asleep woke up and seen it hit 60.

  • in around a 10 hp gain some ppl have found. dyno proven. nothing special but its somthing.

  • i have a 99 2.2 coupe 4 speed with 100 lb sub box in the trunk and it has 212k on original motor and trans. and i can get a 9.6 0-60 time on a cool day. only mod was cold air and reloacating the intake temp sensor to the front bumper so it gets cold air all the time. never runs sluggish anymore . odb2 "96 and up" i believe. they are all computer controlled, the timing and all that. so when it gets cold air it advances the timing a few degrees and gives it a more agressive fuel curve resulting

  • somebody should post up a vid of a cavalier and s10 just to see how it will play out on a race..

  • Haha beatcha! Mine was in 11.17! not like that's fast or something to be proud of...

  • The 4th "shift" you feel is the torque converter locking. If the transmission isn't in top shape (mine is a reman with 11,000 miles on it) you will be able to feel the TC lock up, which will feel like a shift.

  • Huh... Ok do me a favor, I want you to pop the hood and take a picture of the cables coming out of the Throttle body. If it has a TV cable going to the transmission, it is the 3 speed. I am 95% sure that cars that have 1, 2, D are 3 speed, and 1, 2, 3 D are 4 speed.

  • @rudolphna54 Not to start anything, but that's incorrect. i have a 1996 Corsica with the 2.2 and has the 1, 2 D. That's a 4 speed transmission. To be exact, its the 4T-60E transmission. Most Gm cars like the Cavalier, Corsica, Beretta, Monte Carlo, etc. built from I believe around 1994-1999 (or something relative to those years) had this transmission.

  • @KKFan9 Nope. I had a 97 Cavalier myself, and it had a 3 speed automatic, the 3T40, also known as the Turbo-Hydramatic 125.

  • @KKFan9 The base cavalier, and other cheap cars of that era used the 3T40. The 4T40 was optional. Just as some cars come with 4 speed standard, with 6 optional.

  • @rudolphna54 The cavalier had the 2.2 available with the 4-speed auto in later years, with the 3-speed as standard. The Corsica 2.2 only came with the 3-speed though. It feels a little bit like a 4-speed because of the torque converter lockup.

  • @chris12123212 My Dad has a 1998 chevy cavalier 3 speed auto. it even says on the original car sticker.

  • Yes. Torque converter lockup occurs around 40MPH under light- medium light throttle.

  • ive got a loud exhaust and i hear a change in rpm..you still sure its not a 4th gear lol

  • ive got a loud exhaust and i can hear a change in rpm, you still sure its not a 4th gear? lol and btw why does your car shift at 45mph, mine shifts at 35 and 70 when floored

  • Mine only has 1,2 drive because mine has the 3 speed automatic. Your's has the 4 speed overdrive, which gets much better gas mileage, and is generally faster. If you have the 2.2L engine, that is the problem. It is a very solid engine, especially if take care of. But it isn't fast, with only 120HP and 140lb/ft of torque. You can try to modify it, but the 2.2L OHV is expensive to mod.

  • my old 89 Accord was about the same speed as this, it was a 2.0 sohc

  • Question

Does anyone know if the four speed is better than the three speed or is it vice versa?

  • HAHAHA. YES. The 4 speed is better in every way. Acceleration is much quicker, it gets better city and highway mileage, it is electronically controlled.... The 4 speed is miles ahead of the 3 speed in every single way.

  • Weird I got 7.9 seconds. But that may be because the new head kit and gasket, and exhaust.

  • 3 speed auto sucks eh?lol

  • @1g2e3r4te6r Yup

  • check out my built 2.2 ohv cavi

  • @Ricozero YES I've seen it. Stop posting on every damn cavalier video on youtube please.

  • why i still havent seen another built ohv and im trying to find another one dont be mad just because you car isnt as quick chill

  • I'm not jealous one bit, I have no intention of "building" it, because it's not worth it. However I've seen you post damn near the exact same thing on EVERY Cavalier video on youtube. Somehow though I still have much higher video view counts than you do in a much shorter period of time.

  • Alright and my video is so short because im limited to 15 sec on my cell camera pos and it was cheaper to build it up a lil then buy brand new oem parts after the engine blew

  • hell yeah! i got a 01' with the same engine, cavaliers don't get enough cred

  • @cmishler4 BOOOOOO cavaliers yaaayyyyy chevelles

  • @cmishler4 2.2 from 95-97 are different from the 2.2s of 98-02

  • i have a 97 2DR, 87,444 miles. love it. gotz a 2.2L. Good for a first car. Not too slow, not too fast, though on the 2DR models the rear is REALLY LIGHT!

  • Indeed. It could be a LOT slower (See jeep video... lol) . You having trouble with the rear end sliding out under hard cornering? Invest in some good tires. I have the Goodyear Assurance Tripletred (195/65/R15) on mine, and they are very, very good.

  • a decade ago, my girlfriend had one of these base cavaliers. When I drove it, the car felt like a rocket compared to my 1994 Toyota Tercel.
