We came up $150 million short (small state, that's a lot here) so 2 weeks ago the governor cut an immediate $70 mill. and on December 15 will be the other $80 mill. to include job cuts. Every gov't dep't had to cut 10% no matter how stretched they already were. Why doesn't the federal gov't. do it this way? It's simple, realistic, and it works and doesn't cause problems down the road.

Mr: yes, you're correct. Our national motto should be "have a dollar, spend a dollar". No...wait...it should be "have a dollar, spend two dollars (one on credit)".
This entire fiscal crisis was started by the sub-prime mortgage mess, which was caused by 15 years of giving excessive loans to people that never should have had them.
BTW, I've travelled all over the world and visited most States, and IMO people in the US are friendlier than most. Although the Northeast is the least friendly.

When every the government says "we are in need of money." or "We have a finincial crisis" the people freak out and try to spend as little as they can. I don't get it. In Maine we have a mandated balanced budget. We see things the way they really are here. We came up $150 million short (small state, that's a lot here) so 2 weeks ago the governor cut an immediate $70 mill. and on December 15 will be the other $80 mill. to include job cuts. Every gov't dep't had to cut 10% no matter how stretched they already were. Why doesn't the federal gov't. do it this way? It's simple, realistic, and it works and doesn't cause problems down the road.

The truth we do not need to work as much anymore! Hell even stores dont' need cashiers that can be automated also, with a machine. Now the government is giving the bank a bailout to try to get people to borrow more! It just needs to stop.
