Sorry but you will not find a better quality psu than this. Unless its a PC P&C 1200watt. There is always a reason for the way things are designed. I can live with the molex being hard to insert/remove but from what I have heard in the long run modular cables can be less reliable.
I agree it's good quality, but for high end systems (especially those with perspex windows) these power supplies look untidy and aren't as easy to install as other supplies. Personally, I've managed to destroy plenty of standard molex cables when trying to remove them with plies because they were so hard to remove. Sleeving the cables and using better connectors wouldn't affect performance, wouldn't cost much and would certainly make the product more appealing.
As for modular cables, yes they can be slightly less efficient at transferring power, but compared to non-modular cables interrupting airflow, looking untidy and potentially jamming fans, I think advantages of non-modular supplies are outweighed - especially if it's a high wattage supply with lots of cable. Of course, this is my opinion and not everyone will agree.
I have not have this problem with mine, I think they have changed the molex's, I can pull then out with my hand no problem. I will admit, there is a shit load of cables but luckily my large case has a place to safely tuck them away. No fan jams if you take the patience to organize them. I just wanted a really beefy high quality psu and that's what I got, no complaints and the blue one I have goes nicely with my blue case:) So I guess they listened to your cry for help, sleeved and easier.
Maybe I just had bad luck with Molex connectors, then. If they now sleeve the cables, that's great! Despite the reasons they give, I would still like to see a modular supply, mainly for the high-power models. They are making progress, though! =D
Silverstone has a few Quality Control problems.. but they have really nice support and actually FIX problems and send you new units for free.. so I guess they deserve a spot.
The silencer is nothing like as good as the turbo cool. I'm assuming you're referencing that abomination of a chart that mpilchfamily or whatever his name is put together. He was far too lenient in calling a PSU "good". Use Jonnyguru, do your own research.
Oh, I haven´t got it yet but i have read a looot of reviews. They say it´s good PSU an lots, lots of power, but the only problem is that it isn´t modular :( But that´s not a big deal to me.
A couple of recommendations. Firstly you dont need to keep reminding us what rails are. If someone is confused they can google it.
2nd, not the reviewers fault but this supply makes me feel like we are stepping back in time. Not modular? And a tacky red finish? Looks like a cheap psu from ebay for like £10.
Good review. Now that ocz bought pc power and cooling i hope they bring some of these products to Scandinavia so we can also enjoy these great power supplies.
core 2 duo, ATi for HD viewing, Nvida for gaming, since there only 18 tittles out for DX10 you can't really compare. He might just be waiting for AMD's quad core to come out.
you know there is a way to do wind tunneling in a cooling. if you've ever seen NASA's wind tunnel it starts with a huge in take & gets smaller as it go's to the fan turbines. eleventh. lol
i have quad 5770s, will that psu be enough? Currently i have no psu because I only have a 500W old PSU with no pci-e connectors

@saik0pod this PSU will be more than enough

Hey 3dgameman, do you have any idea why any PSU that has more than 1 +12V Rail doesn't work properly in my household?

I love this PSU! Can't wait to build my new rig with a 5970 :)

are Peripheral and molex conectors the same?

Modular PSUs have more resistance to its leads, degrading its reliability and efficiency.

Better.

@YoungGeekGuy: Zalman, Corsair, Antec, Enermax [ Some ] are easily better than anything PC P&C makes.
aSASa45454 3 years ago
My PSU is heavy as shit, any problems have to do with poor packaging which sucks about em, mine is amazing.
YoungGeekGuy 3 years ago
Please read some tier charts and you will see the the silencer >610W ranks tier 1, TOP TIER.
Corsair, Antec and Enermax are all good, but I would not go so far as to say they are "easily better". Why don't you have silverstone in your list?

Top tier in quality, but PC Power and Cooling is stubborn and refuses to go modular or use 120mm/140mm fans.
As a result, their higher end silencers get loud when heavily loaded and there is a mess of wires that is annoying to keep tidy.

Actually unless you specifically mean the first generation of crossfire, two to four ati cards.

I don't get why 1 12v rail is better, dual rail allows the power to be distributed more cleanly which is what is important isn't it?
Chad0987 4 years ago
More rails means you have more lost power trapped on rails that arent fully used. Resulting in less efficient and more easily streched PSU.
Zer11 3 years ago 5
multiple rails have no advantages whatsoever.
singularity3 3 years ago
why the 750 and why noto 500 watts? what can the 750 watts do?
mouimen 4 years ago
it can handle a big strong graphics card its 750 watts mainly for crossfire
wacko506 4 years ago
Wattage is not the only thing that matters, the more important things are the 12v rail currents.
