  • That's awful form, you're meant to be isolating , he's just using momentum.

  • good burn bro

  • He's not cheating at all, cheating is bending down a shit ton and throwing the dumbbells up with swinging your back. Besides your supposed to move SOMEWHAT because it's the body's NATURAL TENDENCY. Doing them absolutely strict will limit you more than it would do any good, at one point you have to move a little bit. Stop worrying about what everyone else is doing and focus on yourself. Watch pro's do lateral raises and don't give me the bullshit about steroids because chances are you're a moron.

  • your technique suffers because you start of with too heavy weights. My opinion is that you should try lowering the weight and try to concentrate of doing the exercise properly and not cheat. Check different clips on how to do it properly :)!

  • I think you could improve your technique bro

  • you are beast bro !!!!

  • You're using your hip's momentum to make it easier on the heavier weights. So many people make that mistake. Just use a lighter weight.

  • Nice workouts but trying starting it from the sides of your hips.. its much harder and works better than what your doing now which i think your using more momentum

  • best lateral raise vid i seen on youtube! thanks! i thought you had really good form!

  • Shoulder killer! :p

  • thats what i do. start with 30 go to 20,15 and then 10 ,by then it starts do burn..good stuff

  • I qoute "no such thing as an isolating a muscle" that ends the arguement in my book. Its the typical male ego thing.... always trying to lift more than guy training next to him. I work and train in a gym and see it day in day out.

  • not sure if your quoting in agreement, but either way, people keep arguing with me about the weight and technique, but when doing drop sets you have to start heavy in order to be able to drop, if the intent was to show off i would have used the dumbells downstairs where the numbers are more visible

  • duude that form is fine! thats how i do it aswel, it doesnt limit overload whereas ultra strict form does. Controlled cheating =D

  • exactly, people don't realize that your about 33 % stronger on the negative part, so a slight cheat is no big deal to get it up as long as its controlled like you said

  • @billy2918 Agree with you completely on the cheat aspect. I'll often do sets where I'll throw up a heavy weight but control it on the way down. Other times I'll use a lighter weight and do them seated. As long as you get a good bite.

The form in the clip is very good.

  • Good job dude!

  • yeh i agree dude is conceit frowned upon in the bodybuilding world so stfu. i dont see you fat fks making a video?

  • I'm not trying to take the piss but honestly, like this:

    Qr8KlNyJ3EE

I admit those weights are small, even I use bigger ones and I am not as big as him, but its always still to muscle failure when I do them.

  • But dude its not true we all go to the gym and do that, I use lighter weights JUST so I know I can do proper form. I am also sick of "watch this" videos and its someone throwing the weight up instead of lifting it normally. Its maybe the toughest exercise, its understandable that people throw it up like that, its extremely tough to do properly..

  • a set drop of lateral raises can be a bitch

    good job though

  • And Jay Cutler / Arnold, their form really doesn't matter because they are on steroids. Any slight movement will stimulate muscle growth for them. Even something as easy as making a sandwich. But, unless you are on steroids, strict form is crucial to good results.

  • omg will you people shut the fuck up already, geez, its a drop set, the whole idea is to bring the muscle to complete failure, yes i'm using my body to "assist" in getting the reps up, but the weight is still under control, and the medial head of my deltoid is still under tension, quit being a fucking know it all cause i know you go back to the gym and do the same exercise with the same form if not worse form, so stop trying to make yourself feel better and look like a genius cause ur not...

  • and your body knows movements not muscles, there is no such thing as "isolating " a muscle, i get so sick and tired of having these conversations with people, and its only on the internet cause everyone's an expert, i have yet to see one person, let alone "expert" do this movement as you described at a gym, so quit kidding yourself...

  • i really shouldn't even concern myself with this cause you probably saw an instructional video 10 years ago and don't even work out, and now to make yourself feel better cause your a miserable failure you critique people on youtube, get a life and get off the damn computer...

  • That's really bad form dude.

  • your form is pretty bad. you need to bend your knees and keep your back straight. you should rotate your hands forward slightly at the end. you are using too much weight and bad form, you are going to hurt your lower back and rotator cuffs. i hope your ego comes with a good health insurance plan

  • will you stupid fucks read my prior comments and realize that i stopped doing this exercise a long time ago, and even still my form is not bad on this exercise, i'd like to see you do lateral raises and talk shit cause your form is probably ten times worse, the only people that post bad comments on videos are the one's that don't work out, or that do but suck at it and are jealous so they have to criticize someone else to feel better, get a life and get off the computer...

  • It was probably because I just started lifting. And maybe I was doing them incorrectly. I see you keep the weights a little in front of you. I was doing them directly on the side, using the hips as the starting position. Thanks

  • I just started doing these, with a little less weight. Is soreness around the elbow common with lateral raises. The video looks like a good work out to me.

  • not really, what else were you doing that day??

  • good job, I know it hurt like a bitch when doing lateral raise with out resting between sets . keep up the good work

  • kool vid like the tatoos

  • so i'm guessing everybody on here arguing with you is wrong and you're right? dude proper form beats out negatives, cheat reps and any other ways to lift, do the exercise correctly, this is an isolation exercise, it's not about how much you can lift, it's about how well you can do it with the weight you have

  • let me ask you this, i'm defending myself because this is my video, why are you 2 fuckheads wasting your time trying to make me look bad? i mean seriously, my form is not bad, there's a little pop at the end, but that's it, i'd like to actually watch you 2 do lateral raises cause i guarantee when you head to the gym, your probably the asshole that grabs the 60s puts there arms at 90 degrees and does squat raises while barely moving the weights, quit being an internet smart ass

  • when you post videos of what you can do, then you can talk shit, until then just shut your mouth, have you even ever been to a gym? the whole point of this video was to demonstrate a burnout with a drop set, why don't you look up ronnie coleman, arnold schwarzenegger, jay cutler or anyone like that and watch how "perfect" there form is, if you noticed i'm still keeping the weight under a controlled tempo, hell why am i even arguing this, this is stupid, since your only insulting me to make up..

  • ...for your own lack of self confidence, and make you feel better because your a big man behind the keyboard, but in person your a little gutless piece of shit, groe the fuck up and quit crying on the computer, i'm done replying to you...

  • You are swinging the weight up. You are using your whole upper body instead of using a strict ROM to get the weight up. Do you know why you are doing this? It is because the weight is too heavy for you to lift using proper form. i would be more than happy to show you the right way to do a lateral raise.

    .

  • no its because i'm pushing myself beyond failure with a drop set, as i fatigue i'm doing "cheat reps" nothing wrong with it as long as the weight stays under control, as you notice i never release tension off my deltoids, and as long as i'm not doing anything that will provoke an injury, everything is still under control, when you have more than 2 days workout experience and get other references besides what you've read in muscle and fiction magazine then try talking to me...

  • Pot meet kettle.

You just said other people can't spell eh?

Take a look at what you have typed. You know you are supposed to capitalize the first letter of the first word of a sentence. Do you know what a run-on sentence is?

Looks like you are the moron.

  • wow that was fast quick reply, i'm aware of the fact that i'm writing in all lower case letters and doing run on sentences, point i was getting at was if your going to play the role of a know it all at least act like one...

  • It is amazing how man idiots on youtube can't do an exercise properly.

  • its amazing how many idiots on youtube can't spell and have nothing better to do to critique videos when they probably don't work out to begin with, get a life and get off the computer...

  • dude your just swinging the weight up, that's cheating, if you can't do the exercise correctly then decrease the weight, stop showin off, you tattoed freak

  • right ok, lets see you post a video of something useful, i want to see how you do your lateral raises, people that criticize other people's form on youtube are usually the biggest hypocrites in the world, they talk shit cause they can't perform at your level, then they go to the gym and screw up the form with 1/3 of the weight, get off the computer and do something with your life, since its obvious you have nothing better to do with your time...

  • Great way to develop useless strength and work your way to severe shoulder problems in a few short years. Have you tried banging your head against the wall for some additional "burn"?

  • if you read some of my previous comments i no longer do these...

  • when you get older like 40s it is going to hurt doing that motion

  • i don't do lateral raises anymore, but this was more show than anything, normally you want to keep the dumbells between 15 and 90 degrees and slightly more to the front than the side, going down to far places excess strain on your supraspinatus muscle, while going too high, causes sheer force on the joint cause your humerus drops in slightly and can entrap the nerve causing an impingement over time...

  • thanks you know ur stuff, this doctor said he used to lift back in the day and told me that...he also said that he has problems doing the shoulder press motion, is there a right way for that?

  • well basically you should only go to a 90 degree position, i usually violate that rule myself because when you bodybuild and powerlift, sometimes you have to break the rules a little bit on the form and risk injury to stimulate growth, but what your looking for is have somebody feel your shoulder joint while going through the motion without weight, lower your arms, at the point where it feels like the head of your humerous is starting to push out, you stop just short of that

  • good workout

  • buenisimo maestro muy buena super serie

la voy a provar la verdad que nuca hice la super serie con laterales

  • nice job man, i love the burning feeling

  • Nice workout, and love those tatts as well. =]

  • is the four set drop a way to increase weights, or is it just a method of weightlifting? i dont know

  • damn.... that burns. ;) good job!

  • The funny thing is as you get to the smallest ones, the pain is at its most intense. Not at the beginning. Great job!

  • well i did ask for a link, but to answer your question, 405 for 2 reps, and i don't do power cleans, but i got a video of me hitting 225 for 5 and a half reps standing military, and 100 for 6 reps standing dumbells that i took about a week ago...

  • i like the way how mudbutt changes the subject

  • well if you got'em on myspace, post a link, then... and besides, like i said before this is at the end of my workout, and i was also dieting at the time since it was the summer, i'm about 40 pounds heavier at the moment, and a hell of a lot stronger, i however don't have lateral raise numbers at the moment because i don't do them when i'm bulking up...

  • hwo come after every set u lower the weight u use?is it that important?causei have a dumbell and it would kinda take me long to take the safty gear(or how ever called)and take off weight plates and close it off after every set

  • not important, just a technique you can use to go past failure

  • that's funny actually, cause watching the video again, can you even read the numbers on the weights?? if you did want to know it was 40, 30, 20, then 10, however this coming about 90 seconds after doing a drop set with front raises, so do yourself a favor and quit talking...

ps i love responding to idiots, who talk shit, yet they don't have the balls to put there own videos up here...

  • Agreed, nice workout by the way.

  • i like that technique a lot, 4 maniac drop-sets, thats excellent.

  • nice work man

  • u got some guts bro great stuff. it's harder than it looks trust me i kno...it takes a strong mind to do stuff like this cuz the pain is crazy when u get to the last one
