I think there is another big reason why mainstream islam should be condemned and opposed besides its curious silence on extremism. In fact I could make a similar argument for Islamic terrorism. If we look at the motives given by Al Qaida and bin Laden 9/11 was perpetrated because the US support of Israel, the economic sanctions of US on Iraq (which killed children), the motives were political. In fact, all terrorism is by definition political "terrorism is the use of violence or threat thereof in order to achieve a political goal" that does not mean however the goal cannot be religiously inspired or the hatred thereof.

In fact I could make a similar argument for Islamic terrorism. If we look at the motives given by Al Qaida and bin Laden 9/11 was perpetrated because the US support of Israel, the economic sanctions of US on Iraq (which killed children), the motives were political. In fact, all terrorism is by definition political "terrorism is the use of violence or threat thereof in order to achieve a political goal" that does not mean however the goal cannot be religiously inspired or the hatred thereof.

I saw a cartoon comparing holocaust denial to drawing pictures of mohammed.. and the European press's reaction to both. But come on, how many times have Israelis bombed German embassies or incited crowds to attack Germans because some idiot Holo-denier crawled out from under his rock?

Comparisons to moderate Christians not getting riled up about abortion doctors being attacked rings hollow.
The fact is, even moderates come in all shades of grey. There are so-called moderates who would never actually perform acts of violence but silently cheer on those who do. I've talked ot people like this.

Yikes. Google "Muslims denounce terrorism", then annotate this video with what you learn. Don't pretend like they do not exist like Thunderfoot decided to do. He also quote-mined Dawahfilms in a video where DF clearly listed several prominent Muslim teachers who are speaking out against it. This really pissed me off. He wouldn't qualify his statements no matter how many responses he got. Then he started removing critical video responses on top of that.

Define "Muslims as a whole"? How would you know what they condemned? I think you need to click a few more links in that search, I'm not just talking about a few scholars, I'm talking about councils, and mosques, and groups, and clubs, etc. etc.

@hugesinker when mainstream muslims start owning their own religion, taking it from their extremist members, then I'll jump for joy. right now, it's the loud minority that has the reigns, and it's up to the rest of them to change that. It's not my religion. It's not my responsibility. So it rests on the moderate muslims. I am happy that some are starting to wake up. But they all need to.

What about all the Christians you know who don't speak out against the crazies that kill doctors,or the ones that protest funerals?I don't see any of your videos speaking out against communism... that's killed a whole lot of people. Sure,atheism doesn't lead to communism, but most communists would tell you that it should, and many religious people have this impression. How about we just condemn affiliations more carefully.

@eddygoombah It isn't a "tu quoque" fallacy if you imply that the behavior is somehow peculiar to that particular group. If you are not implying this, okay, but my entire point is that what you are asking is impossible and I don't see how it could be shown to your satisfaction. You have the obligation to present what you would accept, and it has to be reasonable. Otherwise, you're making some silly, unfalsifiable blanket statement that means nothing.

Sorry. and I do hold the moderate muslims responsible. if you belong to a group, and a fellow member of that group is behaving in a way damaging to the way your group is looked upon by the rest of the world, would you not feel obligated to correct that person?

@eddygoombah okay, i'll try again. To make everyone responcible for what a minority is guilty for is 'bigotry' and the amount of people who say 'its for free speech' it's long since passed that, with the comments here on youtube 'kill the sand nigger' etc.
Now, as for what I would do, yes I would try to correct those who make my group look like sick, crazy people. Because I think that everyoe is intitled to freedom, no matter who they are.

Ok I am not a muslim but I am personally sick of people giving them a hard time. So because the mainstream media doesn't show the moderate muslims cause it wont give them the same ratings as 10 people threatening the creators of south park. I think people need to utilize Google. It is your friend, there a large number of moderate muslim organizations that condemn the extremists. check out Free Muslim Coalition, democratic and against terrorism. Who would of thunk it.

Hey man, great analogy between the Westboro Baptist Church and Islamic extremist. I completely agree! American Christians are very vocal in their condemnation of these radical sects of Christianity that give their religion a bad name. So where are all the modern Muslims on this issue? Great video!

OTOH, moderate Muslims might condemn the extremists but it won't have an effect on the extremists, anymore than Misterpleasantpreacher did yelling at Phelp's group from across the street. Most Christians accept evolution but that doesn't affect the Creatotards. Perhaps the mods do condemn the extremists but it goes against our news narrative and not reported.
