I just received mine yesterday.. where are the jfets located ? I see on the lets say upper right of the board, two flat pieces that look like they snap in.. but where are the optional ones to use ?
The reverb is good... if you hate reverb. Forget any surftones. The Blues Jr. is a boxy piece of crap not worthy of the Fender name. This guy can flat out play - it would sound way better through a blackface bassman or a Deluxe Rerverb.
Cmon, now. This is supposed to be a Marshall-in-a-box, brown-sound sort of pedal, and you go and use a Tele and a Blues Jr.? Not very-EVH, now, is it? I mean, if you're not going to use a Super Strat-type axe, then at least you could use a Les Paul or something else with humbuggies, ya' think?
BTW, reverb does not suck. It's just that most people don't know how to use it properly. Reverb, like anything else, has it's place. Where would SRV have been without that great old-school Fender reverb?
I found one of these used at the local GC (aka walmart of guitars) and it was very impressive. The tone is definitely crunch--very plexi-sounding; warm is a great description. I compared it to a few other things and it stood out considerably. I think I may have to try to talk the pirates down though--they want 127.00!!
I just used this pedal for the first time this weekend and it is the best gain pedal I've ever used. I have a TS 808 and an Analogman KoT on my board and this pedal could match those tones and then some. Awesome pedal!
this pedal is sold for the purpose of getting the infamous "brown sound" made famous by EVH, which is a cranked plexi..not sure why he is using a tele for the demo, at the very least he should demo it with a strat, i am curious how the strat would sound with a low gain setting as hendrix also used a plexi
IMHO, the Tele was the wrong guitar for the Brownie. I liked her sound without it so much more... The Brownie deserves to play along with your R9, GMD!
Got mine last month. Same circuit as all the other overpriced $200+ clones out there. They got the tone right and they got the price right. $130 If I remember.
I don't know about the Brownie, but I have a Signa that was completely superior in every way to the BB pre. The BB got sold, still have the Signa. Not saying the BB won't work for you, but the TONE and versitility of the Signa......................man!
Sweet. I have one coming this week. Seems to stay very true to your pilot tone regardless of gain setting. Not noisy either, even with the tele. You using stock pups there, or noiseless? Screaming. Queen like at the end. Great sounds, nice playing.
Check out my harmamusic channel for a killer demo of the Brownie with a cool intro track

I was listening to The Who's Quadrophenia , a fair amount of reverb on the guitar. Works well there. . .

wow
excelent OD pedal.
I was wondering
How different is using an overdrive
rather than a pre amp?
Lets say the bb pre amp?
What different sounds do you get?
victortolast12345 2 years ago
Could this be used to push a distortion channel, or does it work like a distortion pedal in that sense and will screech and possibly blow the input?

THIS or the CRUNCH BOX?
Sorry for the caps. The quicker reply the better

by the way, I'm leaning towards this. Way warmer, smoother, more natural. Plus, I bet it sounds bad ass with a mid boost.

Reverb doesnt suck.......most people give it a bad name cuz they WAY WAY WAY have their level to high. Any higher than 3 or 4 is way to much
just my thoughts
Great demo GMD!

the signa is great, and will be better for some players but i prefer my BB. It has great tone by itself and it's amazing as a booster.
