I've been looking up both Mastering Pool and Max Eberle's Pool DVD set. I really like both and I'm interested in buying one but not sure which one to purchase though. What are your thoughts about each DVD and which one is most recommended if I wish to improve my game to a higher level?
Effective spin is about balance, velocity vs angular velocity.
If you apply to much power to a ball then its momentum will not allow spin to take effect, even when it collides with the object ball. This is why you can play shots where you have spin take effect after hitting more than one cushion with spinless reaction.
Very fast tables such as the napless heated tables that are used in carom are a great example of this. (/watch?v=gU6tYYS8qOQ)
This balance is crucial in positional & masse shots
I'm having a problem with the draw back shot... I hit just like this guy but the white isn't coming back it stops dead or just follows the object ball... I successfully do the draw back shot if the object ball is close to the white. Some1 help pls :D
@ClClBOOM Always use chalk, keep your cue as level as possible, hit below center, and follow through. The lower you cue, the more spin you get, but too low causes a miscue. Longer shots are tougher, because you have to hit the cue ball faster/harder to get it there before it loses it's backspin. The longer it takes the more backspin you lose. Hitting lower buys you more time to get there.
Cue with your cue low & parallel to the table. A good idea would be to have a slight angle for the approach of the white to object ball, This way you can keep your head down & leave the cue extended at the end; from this you will be able to see if you cued straight & low. Pulling the cue back does nothing and is only useful to get the cue out of the way, hence take the aforementioned shot to avoid this.
Also to increase your accuracy bring the hand at the butt of the cue forward to shorten the gap between your two hands. When moving the cue backward and forward, decrease the distance you move the cue back and when you push through the ball; this compacts your action and combined with the tips from my previous comments will eliminate bad cueing.
SYNOPSIS... PRACTICE WITH A SMALL ANGLE, SHORTEN ACTION, PUSH CUE THROUGH, LOW PARALLEL TO TABLE & KEEP HEAD DOWN AFTER SHOT!
@perfectshot77 prolly a 860 simonis, ive played that felt brand new and when you force draw you can actually hear the spin,it spins there for 1 hole second and then it starts coming back..
@DeKiddo don't elevate your cue and aim too low on the cueball, also don't hit with full power. The most important thing is to try follow through the cueball because if you don't do that it will probably just stop. Also don't hold hour cue very firmly.
@liarobe - You mean the cue ball jumps up? What are you trying to accomplish really? You're probably hitting the cue ball too low OR the back of your cue stick is raised to high thus causing a mini jump. Try not to go too low below center when practicing your draws. Also, as the narrator says, you have to keep the friction of the felt surface in mind. If a table has a less than smooth felt, then it's really hard to get consistent draws on it.
@liarobe yuletak covered most of what your problems may be...another thing that might help is to practice a chop motion. What i mean by chop motion is chop the ball karate style with your hand...notice the ball has back spin due to the downward friction....you can copy that motion with your cue tip.
@liarobe hopefully by now you've already figured out your draw shot but if not, you need to look at your mechanics. you can go really low on the cue ball just as long as your cue is level. if you're shooting down on the ball you're going to chip it. don't forget to follow through on your stroke.
@liarobe just like ballsxmcgee said, don't forget to follow trough on your stroke.. that's one of the most important things on not only with the draw but every shot you make. it sounds like you're trying to draw the cueball but you either make the cueball jump with a too low and/or too much elevated stroke and then you stun it when trying to go a bit higher on the cueball. i personally strike the cueball so low that the tip of my cue is about to hit the felt first but it depends on your
