Amazing sounding, that's VL70m right? If its okay i would like to share some very expressive acousitc patches I've made for the Korg Trinity/Triton with MOSS 6voice for any MIDI wind instrument I guess, at cartadore d.o.t c.o.m, take care!!
Hi Tony, I'm not a musician however I'm learning Clarinet, a new baby is almost coming to my life so I'm looking for an instrument I can learn using my headphones, this one you are playing sounds very nice but it is quite expensive I'm also reviewing EWI USB do you have any feedback to share with me comparing both of them..
Very nice. I listened all the way through, which I usually don't. To me you show that it's more the musicianship than the instrument that really counts. Too many windsynth players just make a dreadful noise without any feeling at all.
@tonyph12345 Good for you Tony!!! the nerve of that knucklehead. Technology is a musicians friend.
Let's see a sax play, harp, guitar, flute, violin, trumpet, organ, or even drums. A wind controller opens up sonic doors to play sounds in a way not possible on the native instruments. Nice composition!! and nice setup!! Cheers!!
@HardlineAthiest nice one... do you even play anything? why don't you post a video of yourself playing the sax? i'd gladly post a video of mine. then we can see who is hiding behind the computer screen ;)
Well I'm definitely one one hiding, I don't play Sax or any horn/woodwind instrument, I do play piano and have a home midi music studio with about 5 synths, 8 rack mount synths and a great digital audio workstation PC complete with Alesis Surround Sound 4 channel Studio One monitors!!
Ever heard of Vangelis? He's a favorite composer of mine. Cheers!
My mate got a wx5 in a charity shop recently for a fiver (they thought it was a kids toy!!)
He's a jammy bugger like that.
He's got an amazing collection of ethnic samples on his emu sampler, Russian, turkish, egyptian etc and they sound absolutely awesome played with the wx5. Excellent bit of kit !!
Wow,Tony.Excellent I've just watched your vidio yesterday and I also have WX5,VLM70 Turbo from Matt.10 yrs.ago and use PSR Yamaha 8000 for back ground but the one you use from ES is excellent,I also saw your back lead sheet for sell and I want to try but I can't read music so what can I do.Please explain and let me know.
P.S I tried to play your style and got only front part of it [play by ear for more than 10 yrs.too bad can't read music and my daugther in law teaching music .Thanks
Good Job! I used to play a alto sax but ran out of wind so I got a Yamaha wx5. Much better not as much air needed and it has so many different voices. If you close your eyes and listen to it play you would think it was the real thing. I play mine in church and it does great. I love the flute voices.
Jeez, that sounds great. Just purchased an EWI4000S from AKAI. Now let's see if I ever can get close to your play......but I think that's whisful thinking ;-)
Tony, How well does the wx5 work with the MOTIF RACK-ES? I have a roland sound module and quit playing with it because it doesn't repond to the aftertouch. So it sounds like i am tonguing every note. I would love to get a vl70m and start playing again. (note to sweetbutdaring - I have a tenor and alto sax).
About as well as the Roland. Some of the voices lend themselves VERY well to playing with the WX5, others not so much.
You also might try programming your Roland to work with BC data instead of flipping the DIPs on the WX5 all the time. I do that with my fav. voices; tell the synth to couple BC control to VOLUME, and set a Fixed Velocity.
I use a Yamaha MEP4 processor to do the hard stuff... :)
what i have is a JV-1010. Not much programing, if i remember rightly. I never messed with the dip switches on the wx5 much. I probably will just go with the vl70m sometime in the future. probably once i get room to set up all my equipment.
Oh, yeah, the 1010 is a pretty old beast... If you have a GUITAR CENTER nearby, take your battery-powered WX5 and a standard MIDI cable and go play the synths they have on the showroom floor. They're usually quite agreeable to that. Just switch the DIP settings on the WX5 to send VOLUME and VELOCITY data instead of BC data and you should be fine. I *think* that's the top three left dip switches should be to the RIGHT, or ON.
I heard a sparkling chime sound you used for transition in your song. Can you please tell me where to get it. I brought Sonar 8 Producer and can't find it anywhere.
I'm guessing you're talking about the Mark Tree sound in the rhythm section.
None of the instruments in this tune are using SoftSynths in Cakewalk; they're all coming from a Yamaha MOTIF-ES Rack synthesizer.
If you google "Mark Tree," you'll quickly find websites that have WAV files of a Mark Tree. You can download one and integrate that into your mixes in just a simple audio track.
At the time I recorded this, I didn't own a Tenor Sax... The mixing tasks with the WX5 / VL70m are also much simpler than mixing in an acoustic instrument (no need for microphones, mixers, etc.)
Can you tell me how can I connect the WX5 to the computer so that I can record the song directly to the computer? What interface and software are required? thanks
Great Work From PuertoRico Wally Producer and Engineer Very Inspiring Keep Doing The Work Your Doing Feeling Your Music Any Collabs Let Me Know Willing To Collaborate With Anyone i own motif and lots of synths also own a studio hit me up.
WOW Sounds Fantastic. I purchased a WX5,Yamaha VL70m and patchman after hearing you play. What settings do you have your VL70M set to. When I play it sounds dead. I'm amazed at your sound. I would appreciate any help. Thanks
I wish to buy the Motif-ES Rack instead of the Turbo VL-M because Patchman music won't ship it out to Canada. Are the voices on the Motif-ES Rack better?
No, not really. The Turbo VL70m is top-notch, and designed from the ground up to be WX-based. The ES is more meant for a keyboard, but can be made to work with the WX. If you add a PLG150-VL to the ES Rack, and get Patchman's patches for THAT, it's a decent compromise. By the way, the ES won't be around much longer since the XS is now being sold.
Wow that really sounds unbelievable... I was considering getting a WX5 and learning to play it. Was wondering, what tone generator would you reccomend with it, and also can you link it up to your computer and just download a tone generator program and use that in temporary place of a vl70m or other generator?
very nice i am sure she enjoyed it !!!
