  • Wow, we've come along way....what woman of ANY color wouldn't want to marry a magnificent man like Poitier? Life is so much richer when we include everyone in our family...

  • @theskiesbelowme

What should be illegal is opinions like this

  • @washcloud Look... If you aren't from the American South, then your opinion on this is irrelevant.

  • @theskiesbelowme

...that's yet another should-be-illegal opinion to have.

  • @ MovieManMike

Great quality but why did you cut the first part off? This scene really is a flop without it!

  • @thatbritts the speech was all I was trying to share - sorry

  • Feel free to disagree, but this version is much better than the modern remake "Guess Who", in its acting, execution, and overall message....

  • where can i download this version of the ending song? GAHHH i'm looking for it everywhere

  • @noiramelie

Simply put the film title plus the word soundtrack at Google. 3rd result should be about wwwebbrazil-eb-brazil blogspot dot com. There is a 4shared dot com link for it. Works fine, just tried it myself.

  • this is really spencer tracy pronouncing his love for katherine. this was it, the only real show of affection by tracy in public. you can just see the real emotion and feeling in his voice and in katherines expression in the background.

  • Tracy & Hepburn ~ so much he was finally able to say & I think if he could, he would have done it differently, still, in love, sans regret. Truly mated love is undeniable.

Caring, loving people, who find that mate, suffer what it takes to be together. ~ A

  • classic.... Great film

  • Yes we have change .... to imagine that today men can marry another man or a woman marry another woman. Same sex marriages.

I imagine today what speech this father would give....

  • great film

  • Truly one of the best moments on film from the 20th century. Yes, we have progressed - a little. We still have so far to go. While it's true that everyone's entitled to their own opinions, we should always remember that opinions have consequences. We should keep in mind always that choices we make today, including the choice to turn a blind eye to hatred and oppression, are shaping the future for all humanity.... Thanks for posting this, MovieManMike!

  • It's a movie. a great movie and the actors are brilliant! Everyone is entitled to their own opinion..who's to say its right or wrong ?.We are not them. I remember seeing this when I was a little girl..I never once thought anything about a black or white issue..even back then..I guess it was made to make people think and be more open..I don't know..I just don't think people should take things so seriously...

  • The message of this movie: white girls, it's ok to get with the negro - and welcome AIDS into your life.

  • fireinthehouse you are a fool!

  • @blove5000 - everyone's entitled to an opinion, I'm glad you have yours, and I also have mine.

That's the beauty of living in a white country, you get to voice your opinions pretty free. Not so in nigger-run countries, and do search for what happens in Africa, when you try free speech. Hint - niggers&machetes.

Maybe you can see how the States are slowly starting to go down that road, ever since there's a nigger president in the White House? Controlled media anyone? :D

    Anyway time will tell

  • If I had a daughter, and she came home with someone whom I judged based on the color of their skin, or their religious beliefs, or their sexual preference, well, anything besides their character and whether they loved my daughter, I would get therapy to overcome my learned hatreds and try to find a path which heals and nurtures and adds to the common good, so I could stop my spreading of hatred and start to feel good.

  • When this movie came out, it was a very important milestone in that it was Spencer Tracy, Katherine Hepburn and Sydney Poitier, 3 of the biggest draws in the world at the time. The common sense of the ultimate message seems mundane now, but it helped a larger portion of the population to think about race in a more complex way. These stars were very committed to the cause of equality. They were proud liberals and progressives, the other side of the fence from John Wayne and Ward Bond.

  • no science behind marrying if outside one's "race"? Excuse this romantic old lady, but isn't personal preference what it's all about???????? Who marries a spouse as if they were selecting bloodlines?

  • You have a PayPal account that anybody can contribute to make your idea of your own island a reality sooner? AS SOON AS WE GET YOU AND ALL YOUR TYPES (RACISTS BIGOTS) OUT OF THE HUMAN RACE, THE BETTER.

  • @sew1835 - @sew1835 - you're calling me a racist because I like my own race ? don't you like yours? :)

what I said was pro white, not anti nigger, you see the difference?

why would you have a problem with me making a white island?

would you miss us that much ?

would you rather we take thist thinking to your door instead of our island?

might be racist, but it's PEACEFUL, unlike your TNB comment

    me racist? how about you?

    search google videos for:

bodeker wntube A convo about Race

  • A landmark film that unfortunately still hasnt really progressed the movement imo.

Its still a big taboo to have a white/black relationship on TV for a black man and white woman the recent remake of GWCTD just couldnt do it its not the same taboo with a white man and black women.

Think about it how many films and tv shows can you name when it occurs?.

  • 2:05 to 2:14 actually kills me

  • 2:38

  • i'm strictly anti- racist, i judge a person by how he or she is in the inside, not the colour of the skin. i wouldnt at mind being in an inter racial marriage.

  • Superb!

  • Check out Mark Harris' excellent book "Pictures at a Revolution" for a really interesting and detailed discussion about this film and how this scene was shot.

  • love this movies! got watch it

  • I absolutely LOVE the look on Hepburn's face at 3:28. She looks at her husband with so much pride and admiration like with each word he utters, she realizes why he's the man she fell in love with. This is such a great film with such wonderful dialogue and this to me is of course the second most powerful monologue in the entire film.

  • I think this was the last scene that was filmed, and with tracy's deteriorating health, He and Hepburn both knew that this would be the final time he'd be filmed, When you look at them seperately it almost overwhelmes the racial themes of the film. Wow.

  • it was.

  • her tears were real, spencer was very ill and had'nt much time left on earth.

  • The power of the scene and the concept of the film 40 years on - and the reaction it's provoked below - certainly proves something. Spencer Tracey's last performance, and a brilliant legacy of a wonderful actor.

  • How did this turn into a religous argument? This is a movie (particularly this scene) about the fact that "love" knows no bounds and that it doesnt care who about race, religion, or orientation. I think we should do the same. Marriage is an institution used to show two ppls ultimate commitement of love to one another, lets not mess that up.

  • Because, Gleefication, even over forty years later, the mentally and morally bereft hate this movie for showing what they are. It shines a light on them, leaving them no rocks under which they can hide their failings. So they burn with hate.

  • 2:06 when she starts crying, she's REALLY crying

  • I love this movie and this is such a touching scene. It makes me cry every time.

  • Because gay marriage is fucked up to the extreme. At least it's a man and a woman.

  • I disagree.

  • yeah ok perez hilton

  • great parental advice at 2:20

  • Thanks so much for posting! Simply outstanding!

  • such a magnificent video, really has helped me with my relationships

  • This movie is simply a masterpiece, people need to accept that we are all human.

  • Love this! Wouldn't they be happy with Obama

  • God Bless America

  • Amazing! This scene is one of the best ever, i think kathrines tears are real and from the heart when spencer is talking about their love, beautiful.

  • They were indeed real. This was the last scene of the last film they were in together and Spencer died about 2 weeks after filming wrapped up. Such an amazing scene to go out on.

  • Not only that, but when they filmed this scene both Spencer and Kate knew that he was going to die soon. That's what makes this scene so memorable.

Kate Hepburn refused to ever watch this movie because of painful memories.

    Best scene in the movie.

  • so touching

  • the Best speech of the 20th Century!

  • OMG is this acting! All of the great ones are gone. Tracy was fabulous!

  • the best speen than i ever heard . tracy role is great . god bless spencer
