  • Love it!!! Reminds me of isolated overcast days with darkgray crisp groundswell waves feathering off the sandbar

  • I got chills. Just... Argh, so amazing.

  • red and purple translucent throbbing bubbles of DEATH!

  • wow

  • Her work encapsulates everything I find beautiful and mystical about art, language, and performance.

  • red and purple translucent throbbing bubbles of death!

  • @djifnf 0:46 I replayed this like 8 times, so great the way she says it

  • I'm in awe of this poet, she is frickin' amazing! The contrasting warrior/kid-thing worked so well, I thought it couldn't get any better, and then she just took the entire poem up into a whole other plane of existence! Brilliant.

  • that is cool how karma comes to bite you in the ass.cuz 2 day i learned karma can reincarnate you in to something beatiful or something awful.

  • I love how she just completely transformed it from something simple from childhood into a universal meaning, so stunning yet many of us probably, sadly write off our connections as too cheesey or cheap. I'm hear to say that you should never write off something you write as dismissable, b/c someone may find it incredible. I think Sarah may of almost written this off, but I'm glad she didn't. And I have room to speak b/c I've written off way too much of my stuff that could of been brillant.

  • I have a Jellyfish sting covering my right foot so badly I can't put a tennis shoe on I sure wish she had been there to protect me or just there in general

  • I loved her since I saw a part of her Ted talk video ... -3.. am a poet myself and may I say that that was simply amazing !

  • @OculiUbique You don't have to do that. When you make a website you update it ONE TIME and the internet does the rest.

  • Who in the world disliked this?

  • With that voice I'd moonlight as a phone sex operator.

  • I'm training to be a professional wrestler. In the lingo of our business, we have what are called "promos". Talking, basically. Where most guys would yell and scream about how great they are, I get the point across with a somewhat arrogant (because I'm a "heel", or, in our lingo, a bad guy character) but calm and cool and authoritative tone of swagger and confidence. Almost all of my promos are laced with metaphor and verbal poetry. My main influences for wrestling promos? CM Punk and Sarah Kay.

  • She is amazing. WOW. This is my fave piece so far. Wow man....

  • who she is????

  • Beautiful! I wonder why some people hate good things. I didn't expect anyone to click the "dislike" botton here. Well, that's the world we live in. Good job Kay.

  • What the hell is this suppose to be about?

  • @Revanchist12 Life's struggles and battles

  • Wonderful

  • Her voice is enchanting to listen to.

  • if she went to Hollywood, she'd make one hell of a superstar ;-)

  • Her voice,WoW.

  • ha she said ass

  • Ewwwwww....Metaphors and allegory. Longest story ever about getting stung by a jellyfish.

  • red-and-purple-translucent-throbbing-bubbles of DEATH!

  • camera quality sucks, but your poems makes up for everything, the passion you put into these master peaces is enough to make a man fall in love

  • Love her words! She speaks with such passion and doesn't forget to take a moment for humor--and the humor turns out to be just as moving as her passion. Brilliant!

  • she's pretty.:)

  • She is absolutely brilliant. I love the way she articulates and tells us a story... I feel like I lived through the same experiences that she talks about.

  • one of my favourite from her.

  • :46-:50 = articulate brilliance! Wat an amazing way to use speed tone and punctuation! i can just see that jellyfish now.

  • I love this woman, what she loves, how se feels this world running through the tight waist of her time-glass, how she never whines at least not so far but truth be told, I will likely love her when she whines a small sentence or paragraph for she is who she is, she can be no other.

  • this was the first spoken word i ever heard. I loved it!!!

  • i wish she would come to our university and put on a show...i think that would absolutely make my freshman year.

  • how does she do this! Like this isn't serious the way she creates a story in your head like you've already lived it. in like one day i've commented on almost all of her poems. lol

  • U just dont find women like that anymore class'y, beautiful and smart

  • i wanna marry sarah kay... super creepy i know... im a huge fan now

  • she is my favorite poet ... so beautiful

  • this && hands. my favorites.

  • Red and purple translucent throbbing bubbles!!!! I love it!!!!

  • what did she say after red and purple ___ throbbing or something?

  • She came to my school and she told us this poem.

    She's pretty. :]

  • fucking incredible, i have to keep pausing this to let what she's saying and the images she's creating sink in... took me 10 minutes to watch a 3 minute clip.

  • Outstanding, simply outstanding!

  • What's up with that audience? The poem had me glued to my seat and all they could muster was that half-arsed applause?

  • well honestly i think her voice wasnt very powerful. volume pretty much stayed the same and although the poem was interesting i found her voice to make it sound a bit dull.

  • eh, I beg to differ. Her voice is small, yes, but she thoroughly executed feeling in this piece. I also like the sound of her voice. Some tend to overpower the mic and I'm sure she could do so, but the choice not to draws me a little closer. There's something else in her voice that I can't quite place, but I love it. Furthermore, what she lacks in voice, she makes up for in hand movements... they convey an incredible sense of emotion and help the poem flow in a powerful way. But to each his own.

  • i love her voice, and hand gestures. amazing performance

  • You are amazing.

  • Amazed,

Is there any place in NYC to watch live poetry?

  • Yeah, Bowery Poetry Club. Which happens to be where this video takes place.

  • 0:47 is insane. She's so good!

  • War/bad

  • oh my goodness. this is. intensely. beautiful. i just heard this girl's poetry for the first time today.

  • master of all the jellyfish!!!

lol jellyfish is a bit of a flacid word..

  • she went to my high school, we had the same english teacher, he showed us some of these

  • she was amazing, when she came to my school

her and Phil Kaye were amazing

  • lovely poetry

  • This girl is so imaginative and wide, I can't listen to her pieces enough.

  • she's amazing.

  • Wow, she's great!!

  • She should get a website. We're her fans and she's a huge mystery to us. What is she doing? Does she go to school? What are her plans? Its like admiring a love from a far and some how you can never gain access to just say "Hey, how's it going?".

  • @quitejaded I think she already have a website. This is the website. project-voice(dot)net

  • @quitejaded yeah i agree she should make her own website where her fans could enjoy watching her performance

  • @quitejaded Check out her "Project VOICE". That's what she's doing.

  • @quitejaded

Depending on where you're from, this is called stalking.

  • hey does she have a website or something that has other performances besides these on youtube?

  • she's only 18

  • no way! she's amazing : )

  • actually now she's 20. She was 18 when she was on def jam.

  • can you be a poet as a career?

  • can you be a painter?

  • Well obviously. But how much money can you make by only performing?

  • A fair amount. Once you count the sponsorship deals with companies like HBO, and all the smaller shows that they do it adds up. Not to mention they may have books being or already published.

  • Does Sarah Kay have anything already published that i can buy? I lover her work and i've been google-ing her for a while now and i can't seem to find anything other than whats been posted on youtube...Or do you know of any site where her poems are written out...?

  • I haven't been able to find a thing.

  • Unfortunately, Sarah does not have a web site. She is currently living in Prague, and Youtube is the only place to enjoy her work at this time. Thanks.

  • no. she is in california on a west coast tour. she was at my school today.

  • no! she is living in the heart and soul of every down and out round about girl and boy. she stared, gape jawed, at me today.

  • @speakeasynyc

what does she do in Prague?

  • @sheriffofsw7

Sarah is back in the U.S.. Prague was last year shooting a film.

  • rad, it's like she's telling a story.

    this girl is very talented

  • she's freakin AWSOME

  • man i love this poet, honestly she has a future ahead of her, go girl
