this game is awesome.. 1 big problem though, the controls for the vc suck for a gc controller. its made for the classic controller. i dont have a problem with the classic controller, but y couldnt they change the controls for the gc controller? y to shoot, a to use bomb, and b to jump?

Because Nintendo are assholes and they don't care about there fans so when we complain they laugh it off.

Custom controls isn't hard to do yet they refuse to do it for VC games that didn't have them back on the console anyway.

the controls was a bitch in this game wasn't it? its like they changed the control scheme, i keep pressing the wrong button to jump.. i keep thinking of the original probotector controlls

Hard to say, because the original only used 2 buttons so this having 6 were changed, but they haven't changed them for the VC.

They changed them for Contra IV, IMO the controls were so bad on CIV that I just couldn't play it.

i never liked conra 3, it was really quite boring most of the time, the tank section was so incredably boring because you couldn't die unless you stood still for ages (or got to that "boss"), also most of the bosses were terribly boring and unfair, i've got most of the attack patterns figured out and all you have to do is constantly do one thing repeatedly, also the continues system is terrible, the platforming was really terribly boring and the controls were a bit rubbish when jumping as you

always jumped at one hight and when you jump down from something you straighten out and that sucks when you are trying to dodge something.

i think it would have been a lot better if it was almost entirely cleverly laid out levels and lots of enemies, but all the levels pretty much take place on a long straight line or up a straight building.

turrican had better laid out levels but the controls were pretty poor and the bosses (like in contra) were terrible.

well that's why it's called run 'n gun, turrican is more of an action platformer like mega man. It's a matter of taste, really. I do agree with you about the controls though, could've been much better.

i actually enjoyed the run and gun aspect of contra 3 but there just wasn't much of it, mainly boss battles and gimmics

I thought they got the balance down alright here, but they went overboard with boss battles in the next one (contra: hard corps). I still prefer gunstar heroes or metal slug to this series though.

This game is my favorite of all time. Pure genious. Amazing levels (except for those top down ones... I really found those annoying...) amazing graphics, amazing music and amazing everything!

I'm glad I got it, because I had the GB version and hated it.

If you ever want to appreciate the game even more, get Probotector II on the GB. It must be the worst watered down port ever! XD

I like the GBA version of Contra 3 too... I don't think I'll waste my money getting a bad port of a game I love. lolz. Do you have the original snes cart? I find the classic controller is kind of awkward for this game...

No. It's available in PAL regions! Just don't look for it under the title of Probotector, since it all ended before it was released (AND THANK GOD! THOSE ROBOTS WILL NEVER REPLACE TOPLESS, MUSCULAR, AWESOMENESS!!!

If you like Contra, there's 4 and the alien wars Ex; Metal Slug, there's 7; Gunstar, there's super heroes; Mega Man, there's Bass, Zero; Ghoul's n ghosts, there's Super Ghouls n' ghosts on gba; Castlevania, there's Aria of Sorrow, Harmony of Dissonance, and Circle of the Moon isn't THAT great but still... I really like my gba, but I think DS sucks (still Contra 4 is fun as hell)

Not anymore. Sold my NDS so that I could buy some games on my iTouch. As there's a hell of a lot better games coming out for it than for the NDS.

Had Contra IV and I really hated the forced controls. Metal Slug 7 looked alright, but no co-op which is a bit feature for me.

And I've had and beaten a lot of the others than you mentioned. Great games :)

yeah true. DS sucks. I still think that much reason to replay contra 4. I don't know what you mean about controls. They don't bother me, and It would've SUCKED with touch controls. Still you can download Contra, Super Contra, Contra III and Contra: Hard Corps all on iPod Touch...

I dislike where the buttons placements are for the NDS, I struggled with shooting down without phasing through the floor all the time. Something I never had a problem with, with CIII. So a custom controls thing would've been perfect for me.

NDS has had some great games, for every great one, there's been some god awful shit!

You can download them on the touch. Just download an emulator (I don't suggest doing so, but I feel bad for anyone who's missing out on two great games! {hard corps and contra 1})
