ok If you in some national Park in ur area/state/country, and they warn u about lions/panthers or whatever animal that lives there. Be careful, do not walk alone, or have something to defend urself[a walking stick or something]. Warn ur children about it "There are lions, and may attack u if u are alone and no one around" Watch out for snakes too. It doesn;t matter where u are, in desert or in the forest. In Desert there are coyotes/wolves x_X.
I Was scared to be alone OO" after knowing Lions are there, only some areas that have bushes, rocks, etc and etc XD Also i saw snake once ;OO scarry~~! Thouh the snake was a baby one, but i was not sure what kind was/ it was under me when i was climbing up the rocks. O__O Had to move away quick. U do not kow if the snake is poisoned or not. Baby snakes, are said, do not know the limit of their poison storage. They can giv u a full poison. O_O Be careful~!
Well If that mom said she heard him scream, but probably she didn't know that that will happen. In my National park, it said "Do not walk alone, always have someone by ur side". Those word are written on only some certain areas the lions/panthers appear. Maybe they had the lion on the unusual area that rarely lions appear? Even thouh the rangers did warn that there are Lions and other animals that may attack. Lions will not attack u if u are with someone with u, but u are not sure
okay in the begginning of thie video the mom said "i heard him scream" well that means her son wasn't in her EYE SIGHT!! which shows me that she didn't care at all until after her son was dragged down the mountian side. people should know when you are around wooded and mountain areas that there are animals there some might cause a threat some might not. BUT it was the animals property the people were trespassing on. i feel sorry for the boy but the parents should have watched closely.
@NintendoPalkia No,hunters see animals as a resource to be protected. We hunt them to keep their numbers down to what the local habitat can support without any of them starving to death. Dangerous animals which are hunted fear humans & are less likely to attack them for food or territorial disputes.
I'm sorry this family had such a close call, but bringing a five year old along on an evening hike (feeding time for most predators) is just plain foolish. Not only dangerous for your little one but sure to attract a feedling frenzy of every crazy with gun in the area.
Mountain lions are not endangered. Their numbers are growing at speeds wildlife biologists never could imagine. Presevation efforts have worked. However, there comes a time when humans have to reassert themselves into the food chain as predator. If we don't, we'll upset the ballance of nature and be nothing more then prey, I'm sure the left wing would like this.
@mariostud Nature would be VERY happy if humans fucked off as in went extinct, don't even get it twisted! It's humans that don't want that to happen. Nature in no way would be harmed if we all died off; in fact, the opposite would happen. Humans are the most destructive species on earth and we've caused thousands of species to go extinct yet the world keeps turning and it would do so if we disappeared.
@Hraptor Actually, I have a very small carbon footprint and I also will never have children so I'm not adding to the destruction of the earth unlike most Americans. I'm right and you know it that humans are the worst species to ever exist.. If that bothers you that I state that, tough shit.
@jfkjrlover According to the way you talked about earlier, it isn't like you're not adding, but more like you're adding less than average, but still adding. My statement still stands, according to your first one.
They shouldn't be tracking mountains lions with their fucking dogs. These parks are imposing upon the natural habitats of these animals, and so these people should understand they're taking a risk by going into them. Period.
Actually dogs are the best way to track any animal period! Even the best trackers in the world can have a terrible time tracking a lion, they are extremely elusive, cats even cougars have a natural fear of dogs and they will climb trees to get away. Dogs can easily smell them out for miles, this would be impossible to track without the help of a good canine.
All the more reason our second ammendment constitutional right to bear arms should remain intact forever. This stupid American views it like this. Jogger running on trail with hip pack......cat attacks.......Jogger shoots cat........has party............tells all there the story of how the cat mounted on the wall attacked a stupid armed American. Somewhere else......cat attacks......jogger defecates on self......cat has dinner.....end of story. :D
Mountain Lions are simply amazing animals. Incredibly strong, graceful, and beautiful. It's unfortunate that we come into their territory and get hurt, but most good things (hikes,MTB'ing, camping) come with some risk.
Hope the little boy is alright. Parents don't seem all that responcible though. If you're going to bring your kids into the woods, where large animals are present or not. You should have them by your side at all times. It's easy to get lost in the woods. Then you have kidnappers who would jump at the chance.
Don't go walking into the wild and then cry that a mountain lion attacked you. Modern americans are so stupid about the wild. We think, "All the scary predators are gone now so we can go for a walk in the woods." Seriously, putting up these hiking trails invites this. Joggers, walkers and curious people out to enjoy nature are lulled by the park signs and neatly cleaned trails. Hello!!! An utter terrifying encounter I would not want to experience. I never hike without my S&W 44 mag trail boss. I don't hunt, but I'll be damned if I'll be caught without it when I might need it.
Why is it so terrible if a cat attacks humans, yet it's okay for us to attack them? I'm not saying I don't feel bad for the little boy, but cougars are predators. Hunting's a part of their natural instincts.
Lets see you get attacked by a mountain lion and say....wow oh man that predator just hunted me down and grabbed me. I told him to let go so he did, but that was fun. Wow lets come back here again!! Idiot...
I'm not saying it's not dangerous, but people act so stunned, and cougars are predators. If I was ever attacked by a cougar and lived, I would tell them to not hunt down the cat.
The lion did nothing wrong. He was hungry. Dont you usually eat when your hungry? When your hungry you go down to the grocery store or Super Wal-Mart built over the lions hunting grounds. Its OK though.... we will just kill them........
Animals dont follow rules like we do you fucking retard, you cant right laws for the animals dude. You go into its teritory and its there and its hungry your fair game to it.
hmmm... "animals dont follow rules like we do" I have a dog, had a cat, 2 birds, and 2 other dogs. They could follow rules. dont make generalities about all animals
So you classing cougars, lions, tigers and bears and other animals as trainable creatures, dude right there not house pets there fricken wild animals and they deserve to remain wild. We dont own everything and hell we dont even deserve this planet.
Your some sort of sick twisted fuck up who thinks animals need to be locked up and forced to obey rules, Rules aint gonna stop a lion from ripping you to shit. Its fucking nature mate its normal.
Why is everyone getting on pezzmiester? Terrifaith made a stupid comment. Even though these animals may be in the same category as their domesticated counterparts doesn't mean that they could ever be domesticated. To truly domesticate something is to cut it off completely from its natural habitat and instincts which is what your fucking dog, cats, and birds are. Never going to be able to train a bobcat. Maybe you should get a fucking girlfriend and stop making unintelligent comments.
Id love to see you try and teach a lion to compy with your so called rules.
Earth aint ours, and people are realising it these days. Its best to live alongside nature and the animals rather than kill them all off and destroy our environment, hell if you decide to go into an area were theres mountain lions you better be prepared to deal with that and look after yourself and keep an eye out. Its all fucking common sense mate.
I live in California and so hearing about the Mountain Lions is all too common. I used to be an avid hiker in NYS but in CA, too many scary creatures. The only scary thing I saw in NYS was a rat snake. Huge sucker
the kid actually DIDN'T turn out disfigured asshole...that's terrible you can say something so mean about a five yr old...i'm sure you wouldn't want someone saying that about your kid(when or if you have one) or a family member if they got in an accident. it doesn't necessarily have to be a mountain lion attack accident, but maybe a car crash or fire reported on the news....i swear, most of these comments on here are made by real childish or ignorant people; and your one of them.
How stupid. I understand not being an animal expert, but a bobcat? c'mon .. a wild bobcat is 35 pounds tops .. mountain lions can weigh well over 200 pounds. how the fuck do you confuse a bobcat with a mountain lion?
I'm from NM and what this video isn't showing is that the parents let the kid go ahead of them by at least 20 feet around a corner so they had NO visual of him when he was attacked. Yes, ignorance on the parents part for their kid getting hurt. You never let a small child leave your side in a wilderness area.
small bear, cougar or a bobcat... hahahahah this aint funny but i laughed hearing that! they're just too ignorant ain't they! You simply CAN'T mistake that simple things cmon.. and bobcats don't EVER attack humans, only if cornered..bobcat is very, very....VERY timid. A young mountain lion that was most probably as they're just too stupid to stay away from humans and have no fear.. and TOTALLY agree on this "if you cant tell a mt lion from a bear..stay out of the damn woods!".... ABSOLUTELY!!!
Well allth3s4me, why would the mountain lion be stupid for not staying away from human beings? Maybe the human beings are too stupid to stay away from wild animals? After all, people always want to do what they feel like without paying attention to some animals habitat, don't they?
but most cougar attacks are juvenile, after just leaving the mother, and are very curious, as it may have not come across a human with its mom, so didn't know if it should fear it, or it makes a good meal.
small bear, cougar or a bobcat... hahahahah this aint funny but i laughed hearing that! they're just too ignorant ain't they! I am from Minnesota. I was in search and rescue and trained in an area where there were mountain lions. No way would I have brought my child into that area. I continue to be amazed by folks who are well-doing, but ignorant about their own area where they live and the wildlife and yet blame animals for their own children's attacks by same. I am very sorry for that child's ignorant parents.
It always amazes me how people expect to be 100% safe in the wilderness, and how they are shocked when something like this happens. The woods aren't disneyland, you should respect those who call it their home and know a thing or two about it before stepping in!
Bobcats are about 4 times the size of a housecat, they arent huge, but they arent small I have 3 of them as pets. They are about the size of my Blue Healer. On another note humans being attacked by Bobcats is very rare, while Mountain lions attacking humans is very likely. It was probably a Cougar

How stupid. I understand not being an animal expert, but a bobcat? c'mon .. a wild bobcat is 35 pounds tops .. mountain lions can weigh well over 200 pounds. how the fuck do you confuse a bobcat with a mountain lion?

yea really i cant see how its possible. I think every dam person should be able to tell what a cougar looks like.

I'm from NM and what this video isn't showing is that the parents let the kid go ahead of them by at least 20 feet around a corner so they had NO visual of him when he was attacked. Yes, ignorance on the parents part for their kid getting hurt. You never let a small child leave your side in a wilderness area.

yep, you are exactly right...it wasn't the mountain lions fault, either...

small bear, cougar or a bobcat... hahahahah this aint funny but i laughed hearing that! they're just too ignorant ain't they!

What the hell were they doing hiking in the woods at night?
mosprime 3 years ago
It always amazes me how people expect to be 100% safe in the wilderness, and how they are shocked when something like this happens. The woods aren't disneyland, you should respect those who call it their home and know a thing or two about it before stepping in!

Bobcats are the size of housecats - people think they know everything...
tyrefryer93 3 years ago
Bobcats are about 4 times the size of a housecat, they arent huge, but they arent small I have 3 of them as pets. They are about the size of my Blue Healer. On another note humans being attacked by Bobcats is very rare, while Mountain lions attacking humans is very likely. It was probably a Cougar

domestic bobcats are always bigger because they are well fed. in the wild a bobcat is 15 to 30 pounds.
