Your identity is everything about you: thoughts, feelings, and attitudes; actions, careers, and relationships; even your material possessions somewhat. All those things combine to form a person.
i think that maybe as long as we are aware of being connected to something (feeling it) then we are, and only beyond our own awareness are we not.. does that make any sense?
You are many things, a man, a college graduate, a cable guy, a youtube vlogger, a son, a friend. These are all identifies which you have assumed and you can assume others by simply deciding to do so. You could give up being a cable guy, but you would still be you. So you can strip off or add new identities.
So technically, the identities aren't you even though you are being them. Strip them all away and you have you in your core essence. You are a potential of identity; a conscience observer capable of assuming different identities.
All processes are impermanent ... All processes are afflicted ... All phenomena are not 'Self'; when this is seen with knowledge, one is freed from the illusion of affliction. This is the pathway to purity. - Buddha
(I am) You are the sum total of your experence! You are not the same person today as the person who is in your baby pictures, but there is a story that connects the two.
it is interesting. i think i can relate. i've been feeling a lot lately that i am nobody. that all that i thought of as me are just my preferences, my memories, things like that.
Who we are is something which is constantly shifting and evolving with mans ideas of himself. And so, it seems to me that we can only self-define in terms of the social context we are embedded in. I think "who" we are is defined by our habits of preference in that context, what it is that we actively seek out and do as reflective of our self knowledge.

I completely get you. I have this feeling all of the time. I see each action as a reflection of everything I stand for..

I am pretty sure that I am not my identity, but rather, that it is just a layer, like an onion, around the real me.

We are the universe, just in different forms of energy and experiencing life from different points of view.
