  • hes got a point

  • hahah he said ' Smooth Wood ' haha a bit like me at the moment!

  • Scientist?

  • aguante Edarem y aguante el español!!

  • I'm a girl, im 14 years old and live in Denmark. We learn english in school. And i don't think that english is a difficult language at all! I also learn german and spanish and these are much more difficult languages. I thought that english was one of the easiest language in the world, so i was a quite surprised, when you said that english should be difficult to learn o.o'

  • @wBolette He said that the pronounciation of the english words could be hard to understand, like good and food. The rules of the english language is way easier to understand. But I think the reason to why english is so easy (atleast for me) is because it's english on the television, at internet, well, basiclly anywhere if you just look around yourself. So you learn english without actually knowing it.

  • @killroy545 I would agree, except I know lots of people who were born here and still can't talk properly. ;-)

  • WTF? I'm from the U.K and every single one of these words are pronounced exactly the same.

'Fewd, Gewd, Mewd, Hood, Smewth, Wewd'

EXACTLY THE SAME HERE ANYWAY. >.>

  • Let's add: Wind and Kind!

  • french is far less hard then english :)

  • old people got some charm!

  • Also, 'door'

  • try to learn dutch. Lol. then come back again with saying that English is hard to learn...

  • hahaha smooth.....wood!

  • guys i do not think english would be the most difficult language....not easy i know but not the hardest to learn. i suppose the most difficult is chinese or hunarian ! I am from Hunary and belive me you would have more problems to learn proper hungarian than proper english!

  • 1:34 you forgot is was smooth not sood. "this should be fud, mud, SUD"

  • i think the example is not hard,, I compuse " can and can't" "sad ,said " "dad & dead"

also (r and l pronoune ) and someting to else..

  • I totally agree with this guy however you also have to take note that english speaking people tend to have a no very pleasant accent when speaking romance languages and since the conjugation system of the english language is so simple english speaking people cant conjugate verbs properly...

  • @Gorrita615 we dont conjugae, yet we are a germanic language? lol german is based on conjugation

  • It depends on your accent. Since I'm Scottish I pronounce food with the 'ued' sound.

  • I'm french and I pronounce all of these words with the oo sound like in "food" :D

  • If Family Guy ever has a live action show, you would play the pedophile Herbert

  • Every language is diffecult to learn if its not your native language.. There is no hardest language to learn haha..

  • Is he back from jail?

  • @ciburita 3 more years

  • He has a very good point

  • thats why in spanish we have only 5 vowels A E I O U and they always read the same sound, plus nearly every word is pronounced the same way you write it with a mechanichal approach to it.

  • But there is a reason ..

  • I wish I could have had Edarem teach me to read when I was a kid.

  • Smooth Wood

  • Sorry, "Gallagher and the Language," on youTube, uploaded by "leodragonfire," in which at 4:18 he says "good" and "food" ought to rhyme.

  • Reminds me of that Gallagher (comedian) rant about language and spelling... "Messing with your mind". I think the English language is totally lost and unreformable. We'll just have to wait until Chinese takes over to speak a language that makes sense.

  • love you eradem¡

  • English is one of the easiest languages out there. The grammar is a pisstake compared to many many other languages. Anyone who says otherwise should try learning danish or german or any of the scandinavian languages for that matter. Example: A dog, the dog, more dogs, all the dogs. Add an s and you've nailed that shit. Now in danish: En hund, hunden, flere hunde, alle hundene. Someone do that in finnish, norwegian and german for me please :) I'm sure there's more to it than just adding an s.

  • @Eumenorrhea He's saying it's not hard to learn, but hard to pronounce. And it's true. Every language has odd rules. English has a lot of silly rules for pronounciation that would take someone years to learn if it was not their native tongue.

  • you are completelyyyyyyyyy AWWWWWWWWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSOOOMEE

  • dr seuss

  • Ed, you're really a kind person. You can get along with anyone, and I see you have good moral values. The world needs more people like you, Ed. I had never really thought about English being so hard to learn until watching this video. Thanks for the enlightenment, Ed. :)

  • Edrem gets shit done :D :10

  • 1:48 when Edarem says "speaking" I saw some spit fly out pretty far! Haha, you are so awesome man.

  • @derekxnl hahaha mee tooo i love him

  • Englisch are not of hard, i jerman and jerman is more very hader them Englisch. English are not hard. jerman is hard. Yo are rong!

  • @happygamestvfun1 guess what gfu cuz u arnt german cuz no german would be playing mario kart and all other shit and a german wouldnt speel wrong rong so stfu and if ur "german" than you shouldnt understand my gfu and stfu, but i bet you do

  • I don't think that's the major problem.

All languages have their own sounds and we use the mouth in different ways when we speak different languages. For instance, in scandinavian languages you find the letters å ä ö and I havn't met many americans who can pronounce those letters.

Also, in english you go down to a lower tone at the end of the word while in scandinavian languages you go up.

    Accent is kind of habbit.

    That's my theory atleast.

  • Mmm, good hood wood.

  • You call English a hard language? Pronounce nordöstersjökustartilleriflygspaningssimulatoranläggningingsmaterielunderhållsuppföljningssystemdiskussionsinläggsförberedelsearbeten correctly and I'll give you a cookie!

  • @xyzzzify Jag klara det :D

  • THIS IS WHY I CANT SPEAK RIGHT! LMAO

  • they are õõõõh

  • omg i cant remember the last time I saw an old person on youtube. no offense

  • Whys he in prison?

  • @StephenFiorentini because americas law system aint right.... full explanation look at his next to last videos, the ones that have a blue screen

  • if you think English is annoying in it's structure, try fucking French. I swear that language was made by a bunch of incoherent retards who wanted to annoy people.

  • @hal0godfather Try Hungarian or Japanese. I have to speak both and they are seriously difficult.

  • @hal0godfather

You mean mystifying and obfusticating pretentious crazy bastards: diplomats, from Paris.

Illuminati may be retards but they are smarter than us.

  • trying to point out how hard 1's own language is,is a losing game.if u've never learned any language to near fluency, u really shouldnt have a say in this. looking into a bilingual dictionary & finding 2 pages of translations 4 the verb "take" in fine print doesnt prove the complexity of ur language, neither does pointing out some words w/ irregular pronunciation.thats a trick nearly every language can do. bottom line:its LANGUAGES that are hard, and 1 is seldom objectively harder than the other.

  • Try Norwegian, it has 2 written languages: Norwegian and New Norwegian.

  • words of wisdom from ed right there

  • English is quite an easy language is the grammar, but its irregular and quite difficult in pronouncing it!! Non-Native English speaker

  • funny because hes taking it so seriously. xD

  • This is a terrific video! You're funny and meaningful!

  • LOL

    'Cause english.... is very difficult.

    That's all. (turns of camera)

    THAT MAN IS SO EPIC.

    EDAREM FTW!!!

  • Very GOOD point! lol

  • [①though②thought③enough,rough④thorough⑤cough⑥through⑦ hiccough⑧plough⑨lough .

  • If you want to be a youtube celebrity don't do crap videos, english is easy..

  • this is not as trivial as it seems...

even though i consider myself to have a reasonable grasp of english, i just recently noticed that there is a difference in pronunciation between "bass" (music) and "bass" (fish).

on the other hand, every language has its difficulties...

  • I'm sorry I can't speak English, I can't understand what you're saying.

  • cough smooth wood

  • What about "flood" and "blood". Double-o, with yet another sound.

  • My dictionary shows more than ten pages to explain the word 'take' (including idioms). Another example is BRASS = 1. metal 2.money 3.thick face 4. high officials 5.whore

  • 1. My dictionary has more than 10 pages to explain the word 'take' 2.BRASS =metal, money, thick face, high officials, whore 3.There are so many Words which has prefix 'Indig' (it's just only a simple example)

  • 1. my dictionary has more than 10 pages to explain the word 'take' 2.BRASS =metal, money, thick face, high officials, whore 3.Indigence-indigene-indigent-indignant-indign-indignation-indiginity These are simple examples.

  • Do you know that my dictionary has more than 10 pages to explain the word 'take' ? For foreigners, The most difficult thing in learning english is that there are so many english words which has completely different meanings. For example, BRASS 1. metal 2.money 3.thick face 4. high officials 5.whore ,Indigence-indigene-indigent-indignant-indign-indignation-indiginity-....

  • @mhoh10038

Funny. I never had that problem. Also, this is a common phenomenon which occurs in every single language that I've studied.

What language have you learned to presume what's most difficult to "the foreigners?"

  • @mhoh10038

I believe that your examples are misleading. "Brass" doesn't have to meanings. It's two entirely separate words that just so happen to be spelled the same way. "Metal" doesn't have to meanings. It's two related words, one of which is noun and the other is the corresponding adjective (as it's also common, btw, in French and German). "Money" I don't have the slightest clue what you're alluding to. "High officials:" come on! "High" is the same word, metaphorical and non-metaphorical.

  • @mhoh10038

"Whore," again, I don't know what you mean. And beyond that you just seem to be listing words that appear to sound similar. Some more or less do. What does this prove? Certainly not the unmanageable ambiguity of English words.

  • he like god

  • goodhoodwood? I see what you did there >:)

  • dood talks about smooth wood too much

  • i thought this was one of the BEST videos iv'e ever seen just because it proves one of america's faults.(i live and yes, was born,in america)

Another fault is proven at the end. We (maybe as other countries also) make fun of others.

  • English isn't that hard. French is a pain in the ass though.

  • 1:40 no

  • This guy should be a regular on some comedy show.

  • hes adorable! I want he so badly out of jail

  • English is only hard when it is not your first language. (like any other language)

But it make it easier for everyone to communicate in a common language.

  • English is said to be one of the most difficult languages to learn. What you point out is certainly one of the reasons. Because English is a combination of so many other languages, with an exception to every grammatical and pronunciation rule, it is very difficult to learn. With other languages, there are rules that apply to just about everything. In Englsh, rules are little more than general ideas.

  • @MissNomad89

to me english was very easy to learn. i've always had way more trouble with french... still can't communicate with french people... even though i've been in france 3 times.

when i talk to brits or americans via teamspeak or skype or whatever they think i live in america... that's the difference man.

english is really fucking easy to learn if you put a little effort into it. french/german/spanish... not so much.

  • @MissNomad89

I disagree. English grammar rules are just as consistent as those of every other language. Langs have the tendency of not making complete sense. English goes along with that rule and is in its nature anything but exceptional.

  • @MissNomad89 it's rather one of the easiest, one of the reasons it's the "world" language, There are no cases, (3 in french 4 in german and latinic-languages) there is very little conjugation, only the third person singular gets an s, in most other languages there are around 6 endings, the list goes on with pronouns and so on.... also in french, there are literally about zero rules... trust me i'm learning 5 different languages now and i'm able to speak english almost fluently. In french i cant

  • @siolFifek i thought that german was the dominate language? i thought it was where about 9 languages came from? hmmmm.....

  • @MissNomad89 Well lot's of people know how to speak English!! But the verbs in English are pretty easy, making sentences is pretty easy, In my opinion English isn't that hard to learn, the only things about English that could be complicated is the pronunciation and grammar, by the way my native language is Spanish.

  • @MissNomad89 I'm sorry, but English is certainly NOT the hardest language in the world to learn. In fact, it's considered to be one of the easier. It's ironic that EVERYONE who makes that has English as their native language.

English bothering from other languages make it easy as many can relate to it. Yes, it has complex spelling but most people who can speak the language can't spell right. :P

Many Americans that only speak English and don't know the difference between "your" and "you're."

  • @EpicBacon

I agree with you! English doesn't even have grammatical cases and because of that you just put word after word which makes it easy. Also it doesn't have weird numbering systems like french for example does.

Also if you hear english speaking person pronouncing other languages, it just sounds so bad that you can't even understand what they are trying to say...

  • you are the new jesus.

  • You might argue that it's the apparently irrational nuances to a language which lead to humour, irony, other positives, philosophically and poetically speaking. My cock hurts.

  • This is why it took me 3 years to speak English clearly!

  • norwegian is more difficult ;p

  • Thumbs up for smooth wood

  • How about the ough ending. Add B and it becomes bough, add C and it becomes cough, add D and it becomes dough add EN and it becomes enough, Add R and it is pronounced rough. Seems kinda random, and rather difficult for a newcomer to learn, I should think.

  • When you start talking about 'terrible pronunciations,' you remind me of the guy from Mr. Deeds XD

  • how does this man know how to use youtube... unless hes a HYBRID LIZARD ALIEN ILLUMINATI

  • Every language is hard and English is no exception. The every day English is pretty simple. But once you dive in you will be shocked by the amount of the words, their meaningы and countless verieties of em. Also I find English to be the most beautiful language there is. Don't judge it by MTV, read Stephen Fry.

  • there are also flood and blood =) which makes it even more challenging =)

  • i thought my english was pretty good but when i saw this i noticed that i use the same "oo"-sound for all the 6 of them ,and thus i seem to be wrong :-o
