@dalesocks I'm sure it lies heavily on the driver especially when many critiques,drivers, and top name mags such as MOTORTREND, CARandDriver ETC... all rate the rx8 better than the 350z, and its been proven that on race tracks stock rx8 vs stock 350z the rx8 wins, rx8 is ranked 3rd best handling vehicle in production (higher than M3, GTR etc) take that GST and watch how an rx8 easily laps it, I've done it myself bud....
@TheRareone777 I'm not doubting the rx8 I think is a great vehicle, and the rotary engine rocks. Might be faster than a 350z doing labs but in straight line I highly doubt it. And as for the gst, they came with 210hp to be a reliable vehicle and is also about 16 years old, with maybe 1k that gst would put down 300whp. Not hating I have respect for both cars.

@dalesocks I still think the 4g63 is a cheaper engine to make faster. And I think the stock rx8 weights more too but i'm not sure. I did went to the track last month and saw an rx8 running low 7s.
@dalesocks 4g63 is technically cheaper, meaning that it need less maintenance, an rx8 you can easily put a turbo and up the exhaust system and watch how the power rises because of its 10k rpms it gets rich around 8k, and the turbo will help it reach it faster, or you can get a 3rotor engine and watch how that will make massive hp, the only thing is that the actual chassis (bodyframe) of the rx8 is what gives it its name in terms of handling, the chasis of the rx8 is one of the best ever built.

Those 93 rx7 r1 and r2s had a 255hp or so on paper but were really putting out about 300hp and probably around 220lbs/ft of torque. The RX8 on the other hand, has disappointing numbers in comparison.

Hi, this is for all 95 eclipse gst owners out there! I own one and i know that one of the transmission supports is really worn out [there's hardly any rubber left on the damn thing] (idk if that's what it's called, it's the metal ring with a rubber filling with which the engine or transmission is held in place with.) Anyway, Iwasdriving on the freeway, and after I reached, say, 45 mph, (3rd gear, about 3500 rpms), the car (engine I'd say) started sort of jerking/lurching .no more freeway! Help!!
@dnlestrella your talking about the engine/motor mount...just change it....but you say the car is jerking..thats a whole other field...i'v3 owned 5 and the one i have now is kicking my ass..but i got it now, but just change it, maybe the bolt that goes in the mount is broken

True, but the auto RX8's up until 06 I believe came with the low end 4 port motor. Which put down around 140hp. The 6spd's came with the 6 port which puts down around 180 to the wheels. Don't speak about something you haven't a clue about.

If it was stock you definately would have passed him in second gear but not off the line racing a person that knows their car well.

High maintenance my ass. 164000 miles not a problem at all, this is not speculation or guessing. 50 trim turbo on a 4g63 is STRONG power and bulletproof. Best 4 cylinder ever made. First hand knowledge, 1995 mitsu owner. Now a subaru sti owner. 26 mpg too. Unbelievably strong engine. If you have high maintenance then YOU are the problem not the car. Ever think of that???

@Jesse19R Only downside to a rotary is the average replacement time. Most need an overhaul or need to be replaced at 70 to 100,000. The advantages are A) You Can't Blow it Up, no matter how hard you try. B) When working properly, your efficiency percentage is always higher than any competition(except battery power), it doesn't matter what you race against. This engine is not wasteful. With the right modifications, this all translates into a higher percentage chance that you will win.
@Jesse19R (2) Now I'm not going to say it would ever beat a Bughatti Veyron or Dodge Viper; but over a long period of time, absolutely. Yes it would win. Try a 600 or 1000 Mile race with multiple drivers, see which one has the least amount of down-time. If I remember correctly, the RX-7 was banned from the LeMans 24 Hour race because of the rotary engine. It outclassed it's competition over the long run and prevailed. It wouldn't be smart to discredit either the RX-7 or RX-8.
@Jesse19R (3) Oh, and the only reason it has to be replaced or overhauled so early, is exactly that; the way it works. It just stays relentlessly in unison with it's features right up to the point that it breaks down. It's only unforgiving to the driver who doesn't use it properly. I'd suggest rev-matching and other simple shifting techniques to make it all last longer. Just a little advice :)

they might only have 180-190hp but they use it very well. lets look at the new civic si they put down about 180 whp and the rx8 is running a quarter faster.

love the eclipse, but the guy in the rx8 has no clue how to drag...probably would have been able to keep up if he closed his windows, but then again as much as i love the rx8 (i own one) the new eclipse (stock) has abt 11hp more and a little more torque on it than a stock rx8

High maintenance my ass. 164000 miles not a problem at all, this is not speculation or guessing. 50 trim turbo on a 4g63 is STRONG power and bulletproof. Best 4 cylinder ever made. First hand knowledge, 1995 mitsu owner. Now a subaru sti owner. 26 mpg too. Unbelievably strong engine. If you have high maintenance then YOU are the problem not the car. Ever think of that???

@Jesse19R Only downside to a rotary is the average replacement time. Most need an overhaul or need to be replaced at 70 to 100,000. The advantages are A) You Can't Blow it Up, no matter how hard you try. B) When working properly, your efficiency percentage is always higher than any competition(except battery power), it doesn't matter what you race against. This engine is not wasteful. With the right modifications, this all translates into a higher percentage chance that you will win.

@Jesse19R (2) Now I'm not going to say it would ever beat a Bughatti Veyron or Dodge Viper; but over a long period of time, absolutely. Yes it would win. Try a 600 or 1000 Mile race with multiple drivers, see which one has the least amount of down-time. If I remember correctly, the RX-7 was banned from the LeMans 24 Hour race because of the rotary engine. It outclassed it's competition over the long run and prevailed. It wouldn't be smart to discredit either the RX-7 or RX-8.

@Jesse19R (3) Oh, and the only reason it has to be replaced or overhauled so early, is exactly that; the way it works. It just stays relentlessly in unison with it's features right up to the point that it breaks down. It's only unforgiving to the driver who doesn't use it properly. I'd suggest rev-matching and other simple shifting techniques to make it all last longer. Just a little advice :)

I drive an rx8 and the torque is terrible below 6k rpm. If you can keep your rpms above that on a rolling start you should be able to take a new gt.
