the biggest problem here is that freddie sang it at B minor and Elton at A min

which is a lower pitch thats why it's sounds aweful... that pitch is correct for the second verse when elton sings it at B minor, freddie turns it to C Sharp minor... hope i made it my point

Here's a tip for you.... "Normalise" all the audio clips in an audio editor such as Audacity (This is free software too!) then use crossfades between clips , then you will get less impression of "jumping".

I would say that Freddie's talents are more "pure" and "refined" whereas Elton is grittier and has more versatility. But.. more importantly.. I can't think of any NEW vocal talent in the past 20 years that comes close to either Freddie or Elton. There USED to be a lot of great performers in the 70's and 80's. One reason for that could be the invention of CDs and MP3s. New artists can't compete with the perfectly preserved performances of the past. New artists have to compete with the past.
