I don't care for the intro but from the opening riff on it doesn't matter good stuff, I still think "Unto the Locust" by Machine Head will stay my favorite album of 2011 though. That being said this album is still much better than I thought it'd be.
the intro is going WHAAAAT and then goes on to ripping off NTR and Octavarium, but it still is the best song from the album I've listened to. so far, I'm disappointed
@passion4drums that's true, but today it is considered less "ok" than it was in the classical, romantic, and Baroc times, where there were at least fifty variations for each piece
@OfficialTSC it was never considered wrong or okay. it's part of their style at this point. they developed it through the 12 step suite and it really grew on them.
@passion4drums yeah, but you hardly see someone copying or "reprising" themselves not on purpose these days, because it is considered "laziness" when it actually is pretty hard to bring something you already did back to life, and show it in a new light. It's impressive, it's uncommon (but since when are Dream Theater common?)
@pologilbert I didn't like the whole album EQ,made it too bright, there are songs that needed more life(I'm a big DT fan,but except for a few songs other than the ones on Awake and I&W,the album versions are lifeless, and they don't stand behind the meaning of the songs live, more behind their enjoyment).Another thing is it felt a little empty, and the last is simple:Mangini.don't get me wrong,I think he's a much better drummer than portnoy, yet portnoy fit the band.I don't like JLB,but he fits
@pologilbert James was a great singer a long time ago, if anyone wants to continue this conversation, send me a message, I don't want to write everything here, especially because there isn't enough room

@OfficialTSC how are they ripping it off if it's their own songs? no. they are making references, they do this quite a bit. it's interesting.
