and you know, i sued to like korn a lot, then i grew to despise them. but for some reason this is the 2nd time ive seen korn on an mma fight and it fits.
I want one of those badass KS shirts he wore around in pride, i can find sakuraba shirts, but none of those awesome ones you see him in as he spectates ring-side
i love the gracies dearly, and although people consider this a failure on their part, what really happened was an enlightening experience as sakuraba showed them that martial arts is never finished; there is never a single answer. it evolves and evolves like music and like every other art, it is constantly advancing
remember saku did pro wrestling for years and jus like in the states they dont have a off season like other sports he saw all different types of styles all year long and was in very good shape
Saku was a product of the Gracie revolution they made him, thats why ancient martial arts masters kept secret techniques, the Gracies shared and exploited there style and Saku was the freak that kicked their asses and theres no dought he would have beatin Rixon as much as I love him and respect him Rixon was PS1 and Saku was PS3
well Rickson said he could beat Saku easily and Saku accepted the challenge, At that point Saku had already beaten Royler, Royce, Renzo and a few of Gracie students including Vitor Belfort and Marcus Silvera.Rickson backed out saying he wanted more money to fight Saku. So, Ryan stepped in to fight Saku, losing by unanimous decision. He also did the same with Bas Rutten.
My comment wasn't meant to take away from the greatness of Sakuraba in anyway though. I mean the man is a genius in the ring, and has proven it time and time again.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
The one thing you left out though is that Royce did beat Sakuraba in their second fight. Anyway this is coming from someone who practices both Judo and Jiu-Jitsu.
Well it wasn't proven whether or not he was on steroids during that fight, and infact it was regulation for them to have urinalysis since it was the first fight that wasn't in Japan. So I'm pretty sure Royce wasn't on roids that night. That was the same night the Brock Lesnar got his first win.
actually it was proven. both his urine samples tested positive for 25 times the normal amount of nandrolone, an anabolic steroid. the tests were taken by the california state athletic commission.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
That was AFTER the Sakuraba fight. Because in America with any fight, even an exhibition fight you cannot test positive for any steroids and still be able to fight, or retain your liscense to fight. That particular Pride event was the first one held on American soil. Once again it was the same night that Brock Lesnar fought his first fight.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I never said that they didn't host more than one event. However that particular event was indeed a pride event. I paid for it myself. I said that was the FIRST one held in America not the ONLY one. There is a difference.
the samples were taken previous to the event. the test was done for that particular event. It was not a Pride event, but a k-1 event. Sakuraba had already left Pride by that point. it was promoted as a k-1 dynamite event.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I must correct you. I bought that particular event on PPV, and it was indeed a Pride event. Infact they referenced the collaboration of Pride and K-1, so maybe that is where the confusion is coming in, but it was indeed a pride event. Also IF the samples would've been taken before hand he wouldn't have been able to fight, as the boxing commission of the state, which is what MMA uses as well, would never allow it to happen.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I never said it was the FIRST pride event EVER, I said that it was the first pride event on American soil, let's get that straight ok? Now the second of their fights was held on a Pride ticket. It was co-sponsored by K-1, however it was indeed a PRIDE event. You might be confusing the two because of the co-sponsorship.
it was televised on Showtime (a non ppv cable/satelite channel) in the states as a k-1 event. It wasn't a ppv event in the states atleast. Sakuraba fought his last fight in Pride in 05. He left them for Hero's/k-1 co-promotion. this fight took place after the Zuffa buyout of Pride. you can look up the dates on wikipedia, sherdog or hunt em down on other MMA sites on the web
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I couldn't care less if you argue with me anymore, you are WRONG about this one. It was a co-sponsored event but was represented as a PRIDE event. It was the FIRST Pride event that happened on American soil. Because of this there had to be a steroid test done on the urine BEFORE the fight was allowed to happen.
lol yeah i'm seeing that about him/her. yeah no use in arguing about it anymore. Pride was actually not Pride anymore by the time the second Sakuraba/Royce fight happened. Pride was bought in march that year by Zuffa/UFC the fight took place in June 07. The one and only Pride event in the states took place in Vegas, Feb 07, Their last event was at Saitama arena, April 07. funny thing is i have direct tv. It was shown live on showtime. Hero's,k-1 and now Dream don't do ppv, it's free on hdnet lol
I am glad to hear from some one that knows what hes talking about.
He keep complaining about Wikipedia being unreliable etc ect I just send him the official "Dynamite USA" page where it says the event was hosted by K1/ ProElite
This person doesn't like to listen or admit when they are wrong =] thanks a lot though friend.
It was televised on Showtime afterward, like a month after. But when it was first aired on Direct TV atleast, it was a PPV event. That event that aired on Direct TV WAS a PRIDE event.
pretty much also stated that NO it wasn't a PRIDE..dude..it's called WIKIPEDIA...when you find the event and you clearly find that it says "event hosted by Pride Fc" comment back..other don't bother commenting back man...GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT!

Wikipedia can be changed by ANYBODY man and you know it. When I was in college if we used wikipedia we got an automatic F on the paper unless ofcourse we backed up wikipedias findings with another RELIABLE source. Pride hosted that event that was CO-SPONSORED by K-1. So YOU GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT!
Loved the way he Kicks the legs while the Gracies sit on their Asses. Why didn't Rickson ever fight Saku? The Gracies Never learned the Art of throwing Kicks. It looks like Saku was a Hitman, sent by the Yakuza to TAKE CARE of the Gracies.
Rickson should have defended the family honor right after Roylers defeat. But he dodged Saku, and it seems for a very good reason. Great athlete, unique fighter. I do miss him in his prime.
I don't there will be another great middleweight like Kazushi. A great fighter, showman, and a sportsman. Its going to be awhile until there is another fighter like him.

Still would've loved to see Saku and Rickson go at it (some say that Rickson was ducking Saku).
bennybagofdonuts 2 years ago 9
Man wouldn't that be something!
I dont see why it wont happend
I mean Renzo Gracie Might be fighting Matt Hughes soon..& Sakuraba is still active fighting!
It would be history to see it..I know many ppl would still love too see this happen =]

That wasn't even a PRIDE event man
It was co-promoted by FEG, the promoters of K-1
and no Pride Fc hosted more than one event.

well friend you might have order it in PPV
I was there to watch the event live and yes I still have my ticket as proof

second of all that was not a PRIDE event and NO that was not the first Pride event
Pride 32: The Real Deal,Las Vegas,NV
(October 21, 2006)
Pride 33: The Second Coming,Las Vegas,Nv
(February 24, 2007)
Sakuraba vs Royce Gracie (Part 2) was an event held by FEG, the promoters of K-1 kickboxing and HERO'S MMA events, and EliteXC.
FEG is not a PRIDE affiliated company
look up ur facts man..
