@frilink The Kraken originates in Norwegian mythology. In the original Greek myth the actual monster is called the Cetus which means destruction by the sea and is Poseidon's creature. Not too sure in "Clash of the Titans" why they use the Kraken, perhaps it was because they only want Hades to look like the evil God rather than expose that they all cause harm to humanity.

Medusa is one of the most victimized mortals in Greek Mythology. No such thing as women's rights to the gods. You get raped in a temple, and you pay for it.
I have no respect for Athena, she should have went after Poseidon, but instead took the easy route and punished a mere mortal victim.
Poseidon and Athena are both punks, and both should be dealt with for one of the worst Greek Tragedies.
I like this series but its full of holes - all the episodes on all the stories are full of omissions from the original stories - I think they just rewrite them as they feel fit - one example is that according to the myth I read - that Poseidon SEDUCED Medusa and NOT raped her - and then Athena out of JEALOUSY punished her as she was in love with Poseidon!
Yeah, that's the story from "Clash of the Titans". I think mainly they use to say seduced, because "Rape" was a dirty thing. Many stories of Gods "seducing" mortals, you can actually replace "seduce" with "rape". They soften it by usually saying "seduced".
There are way more accounts of the story that clearly state he raped her though. She was a high priestess, I doubt she willingly gave it up. That's why their son Chrysaor doesn't set foot near the sea. I think it's because he hates Poseidon.

He owned the two-headed hound Orthrus, which is the brother of Cerberus (3 headed hound of Hades).

It's funny how "the Men" think the Medusa fable was created because of a bewitching woman; when I think this was a story told by mothers to their daughters that essentially said that "if you get raped, you keep your mouth shut!!" "Thus, you won't lose your honor or devalue yourself" . Look at what a pariah they turned Medusa into and she did NOTHING wrong. Even if that didn't happen deliberately, it had to play on a girls subconscious. So sad.

1) That would suggest that Pegasus and Chrysaor were the sons of Poseidon by Medusa. It's possible, but can we confirm that?
2) The confusion here is that Perseus rode Pegasus in "Clash of the Titans", but the myth in which Pegasus features is actually Bellerophon vs Chimera.

1) uh yeh we can! medusa was impregnated by poseidon when he raped her; i'm guessing due to the transformation the twins were changed inside the womb because now the mother was no longer human.
2) i never sed anything about perseus riding the horse i just said that he sprang from the neck; i am well aware of the connection with bellerophon and the confusion that arises when some people mistake clash of the titans (particularly the 2010 version) for an adaptation of the actual myth

@JCLeSinge wikipedia; check medusa (death section), pegasus (it also lists his family tree), chrysaor (who is in fact sometimes depicted as a winged boar) and poseidon other accounts (again on wikipedia) say that while medusa did not fall pregnant directly from poseidon, drops of her blood fell and mixed with sea-foam resulting in the horse's birth when perseus was flying over the sea carrying it. as poseidon is lord of the seas there is a connection with him there too

@pantstelly93: So we have two references for Pegasus being Poseidon's son; the blood and the sea is just a metaphor for sperm and the egg (direct inversion of symbolism lining up with the fact that Medusa and Poseidon did indeed have sex). So yes, you're right; Pegasus is the son of Poseidon. Natural also that a horse should be born from the surf; universal in mythology worldwide, and survives into modern metaphor.
...and Chrysaor *is* also a boar. Kudos for looking it up.

Clash of the Titans was always my favorite movie, so this episode was a little extra special for me.
Medusa is one of the most victimized mortals in Greek Mythology. No such thing as women's rights to the gods. You get raped in a temple, and you pay for it.
I have no respect for Athena, she should have went after Poseidon, but instead took the easy route and punished a mere mortal victim.
Poseidon and Athena are both punks, and both should be dealt with for one of the worst Greek Tragedies.

I like this series but its full of holes - all the episodes on all the stories are full of omissions from the original stories - I think they just rewrite them as they feel fit - one example is that according to the myth I read - that Poseidon SEDUCED Medusa and NOT raped her - and then Athena out of JEALOUSY punished her as she was in love with Poseidon!

Yeah, that's the story from "Clash of the Titans". I think mainly they use to say seduced, because "Rape" was a dirty thing. Many stories of Gods "seducing" mortals, you can actually replace "seduce" with "rape". They soften it by usually saying "seduced".
There are way more accounts of the story that clearly state he raped her though. She was a high priestess, I doubt she willingly gave it up. That's why their son Chrysaor doesn't set foot near the sea. I think it's because he hates Poseidon.

The story I knew of Medusa, is Hera was the one who turned her into a gorgon, cause Medusa thought she was the most beautiful and insulted Hera. This is the first time I heard a story about her being raped. Tragic story any way it goes,but Medusa is definitely remembered.

Yeah, Medusa had 2 children. Athena made it so they wouldn't be born until Medusa was slain.
Pegasus - the winged horse, he's known mainly for carrying thunderbolts for Zeus. He's helped a few big heroes on their quests.
Chrysaor - a young man, sometimes said to be a giant or a winged boar. His name means Golden Sword (which he was armed with), and he was known to be a stout hearted warrior. He was born fully armed. He was king of Iberia. He had 2 children, Geryon & Echidna.

The Titan that Hercules kills for his 10th labour for his magnificent red cattle was Geryon. He's Medusa's grandson, son of Chrysaor & Callirrhoe. He had 1 head, 3 bodies, 2 arms and some say 6 legs, or 2 legs. Like a weird siamese triplet, with 1 head. He was also a very strong warrior.
He owned the two-headed hound Orthrus, which is the brother of Cerberus (3 headed hound of Hades).
