Epic speedrun, also looks relatively easy compared to some other games, you tried speedrunning Final Fantasy IX before? They even put a bonus weapon in one of the final areas if you reach it within 12 hours of gameplay (of course the record smashes that, I think it's about 8 hours)

Isn't it a trip that you don't actually have to kill Natla to complete the game. Meaning Lara's whole objective here is just to slide down that last ramp. Wtf Core Design? Anyways, what exactly was happening at the very end (before the cutscene)? Did Natla just chase you down the ramp or did something glitch up? It's not real clear.

some discussions have been going on whether natla was counted as 2 kills or that the scion is an additional kill. well, you completly ignored natla so i think you confirmed the scion was the extra kill.

Yeah but then I'd feel like I'm taking the easy way out. I only segment if the level is long with several luck-based encounters, or if there's a very hard jump or bug to get past.

As you have previously stated mate, these runs take enormous amounts of practice and numerous lives lost. Your skill cannot be faulted, but what people may forget is the incredible patience you must have. Surely you have almost reached the end of a level, and then missed a jump or received more damage than you expected on a fall etc. Is there the temptation to just think "Stuff this", and go out for a pint instead !

Thanks and yeah it can definitely be frustrating especially when an absolute perfect run gets messed up by something so simple, it happens to all speedrunners, so I just learn to have confidence in myself and know that when I do it, people like you will appreciate the effort.

They're not cheats so you won't find them on the net. The corner bugs like at the end with Natla just take a little practice and when I skip the fall from the collapsing tile, just press L2 or R2 when you're standing on it.. Yes this was on PS.

Wondering if you could help me out. I'm doing a run of TR1 where I'm trying to not lose any life, not bothered about time btw. I've made it all the way up to the shimmy bit with the arrows around 3:20 I can never get past them without losing life. Is there any way to do so if I'm not bothered about time?

That's a tough one. I'd say try starting from the very left of the shimmy ledge and study the pattern of each arrow and go when you think you can make it.

You need to learn that glitches are NOT cheats. Alot of speedrunners use glitches, take a look around YT.

If you're doing speedruns, then using these design bugs or glitches are basically essential. To actually play the game as intended, and as some youtube purists insist, then speedruns would be anything but speedy. I agree with you to a point that it still sticks to the spirit of the game to utilise these bugs, as you did at the end here. However when you see some gamers posting ridiculously low times for some levels, it's worthless, as they have skipped 70-80% of the level !!!

Playstation version, beautifull. Compare how better graphics is in PS then PC, plus wonderfull ambient sounds that are ommited in PC version. Back in 1996. I thought that it is the best game in the world. Correction-I still do :)

PS1 having "better graphics" is somewhat subjective. All graphics on PS1 compared to PC is lower res, although the PS1 does have some unique graphic effects like the reflective gold that the PC doesn't.

As far as "wonderful ambient sounds" I think you need to look up the word "ambient," because I don't think it means what you think it means. Ambient sounds are all the PC soundtrack consisted of. The PS1 soundtrack, while not bad, really clashes with the feeling of solitude.

me2. u have the wii version right? i personally think it is more fun than ps2/pc/360 cuz of the aiming and more puzzles. i had the ps2 version and it screwed up on me twice so i got the wii version and fell in love

Yes the wii version is nice. Very hard to speedrun though lol. I think I did mountain caves in like 5:40 once. Underworld for the wii is horrible though, they took alot of things out that are in like ps3/xbox360 version. You can't even make Lara sprint on it.
