  • @Leequidable Be well my friend! Peace and love to you always.

  • HEy JErome, Another fine effort my brother....

  • Much love Block!

  • Wicked bass tone dude.

  • Thank you!

  • You have a very good voice!

Do you thing I could get that bass model to sound aggressive with stock pickups? I'm looking for a cheap as possible 5-string for metal and there's a used one on ebay :-)

    Thanks,

    Tim

  • Thank you Tim! :-)

To answer your question, I say yes, you can get an aggressive metal sound with stock pickups. But I had my stock pickups replaced with EMG J pickups. They do not cost too much money, and they sound great. And purchasing replacement pickups for your bass from most manufacturers is a good option to consider if you are going to use the bass a lot.

  • Thank you for your very kind comments!

The EMG J pickups do not cost too much.

I hope to make nice music in Nashville someday, thank you again.

  • My old Washburn I picked up at a pawn shop last week. It was in rough shape. The jack was about to fall out the bottom, the strings were dead, the pots were scratchy, and the bass was really dirty like it never got cleaned. I fixed all the above, adjusted the action and intonation, and now have a really decent bass.

Anyhow, thanks again for the video!!!

  • You're welcome!

Now you have a nice bass to help carry you forward with your music career.

    Best of luck to you.

  • Sounds like mine XD I have the same bass as the guy in this vid only his has 4 strings, mine is 5, and the pick ups are two single coils, it's pretty dead like the way you described yours XD

  • oh wait nvm his is 5 string too, woops

  • Wow, Bob! Outstanding bass playing. I was just researching a bass I recently bought, a Washburn XS-5, that you are no doubt familiar with, and of course your video came up. I must confess that I did try to pick out some of those chords in your original song. Nice approach to bass playing that is often overlooked.

  • Thank you for your kind comments!

Enjoy playing the chords, and I hope to hear your music on this site someday.

The solo approach on bass is not the most popular one, but the more bass players do it, the better it is for all music lovers.

  • Please tell me what you think about SWR LA-12?

  • I think that the entire SWR LA series amps are great!

    Thank you for listening.

  • Great to see you on you tube! I remember you sang this song in Amsterdam on the canals during the Jazz cruise. I loved the song then and still do.

    Love Joancy (Orville's sister)

  • And it's great to hear from you too! I remember those good times on the cruises we did. Such good music. Be well.

  • your voice is proper to sing with the earth wind & fire I am sure that it is a band that you like

  • I have always loved EW&F, and they have been one of my musical influences.

Good to hear from you Franco!

  • Wow, great solo bass piece and sweet singing... very nostalgic.

  • Thanks for stopping by. Your many bass videos will inspire others to play. Keep the groove alive!

  • I have the 506 & 506 II and I love them both. I use a very similar setting. I daisy chain them together. I like to use a lot of hall reverb, chorus, and delay to create a slightly underwater sound. I love it. I get a lot of mileage out of my ZOOM pedals.

  • I love my 506 II too. It has helped me to come up with some good outboard sounds for my bass. But I recently did purchase a Zoom B2.1u multi-effects unit. I have been tweaking it to match some of the sounds I hear in my head. It sounds good and has less noise than the 506 II. Both of them are still cool with me. Thanks for your kind comments!

  • Hey man, no problem....

  • Great Job Jerome,

It was a pleasure working with you and Niki these days,

I hope it will be continued.

Grats Koen ( and Joris )

  • It was good to meet you guys and jam with you. Keep playing the music you love and be well.

    Thanks!

  • awesomeness

  • Wow, my thanks to you!

  • Man that ZOOM 506 sounds good!!

  • Thanks for visiting and listening.

I like going in as soon as I get something

like the 506 and editing things right away.

Right out of the box. Then I tweak it to match

my material as best I can. It's a fun experience for me. Have fun.

  • nice song...I had the Zoom 506 pedal and I loved the tonal qualities it added to my playing... I just got the Zoom B21.u pedal and it is a lot of fun to use, especially with the 40 drum patterns you can practice along with...

  • Thanks for your kind comment. I have been using the Zoom 506MKII for a few years now, and it has been useful in the projects that I've been in, and the one that I'm in now.

I've had my eye on the B2.1u, and I'll probably get one soon.

Keep on making music, and thanks again!
