Hey Owen, I just want to tell you that you are an immensely brave man. I can't say I completely understand being transgender, but I don't have to understand everything to support you as you become (outwardly) who you are (inwardly). Thank you for being willing to undergo this usually very private process under the public eye, as I hope that will help with awareness, which is the first step to acceptance.
@jacktheincredible01 I'm a troll and I'm not actually that stupid. I'm just saying that no matter what is done to the female or male body, it cannot become the opposite of what it is. There is much, much more to being a male than just endocrine manipulation and plastic surgery. The same applies to being a female. I'm not going to address the spiritual issues going on here; I simple don't have the time or patience to discuss it via comment posts. I hope you had a Merry Christmas! 8D
=) its so nice to know that your progress is accepted by your friends and family, keep going and thanks for sharing your journey with us, might give some insight to the bigoted morons out there =)
I came to your videos through a link from Huffington Post and I'm glad I did. I'm a gay (biological) male, but we also have to keep explaining to people the differences between sexuality and gender. (It never ends.) I really wish you all the best in your transition. Oh, and I loved the "T-party" bit.
Yay for Owen! I think this is so cool of him. He's helping by sharing his journey and story with the world. Other guys and girls like him can see that they're not alone and sometimes that can be a very important thing indeed. GO OWEN!!!
You're lucky you don't know who Perez Hilton is. He's an irrelevant celebrity blogger who built a reputation and career around hatred and bullying. He's ugly inside and out.
Stay strong! You are so brave, and I admire you so much for that. Good luck on your exciting change, we are all watching your transition in excitement, looking forward to the upcoming videos!! From NZ :)
'Been on testosterone' that sounds awesome lol. Shaving is very easy with a good razor like that gillette fusion - just put some water on your face, then some shaving cream and just run the razor down your face. It's quite hard to cut yourself with a razor like that (trust me I use it) but you'll probably cut yourself a lot more often with a cheap one.
YOU ARE SO BRAVE!!! You are so inspiring you really have no idea. I think that you are one of the bravest person ever for posting this. Don't mind the haters, there are so many people here who are so proud and in awe of you!! I wish you only the best and i will be checking out every week to see how your process is going:) lots of love your way xoxo
Thank you for sharing. You are very brave to do so and I look forward to watching your story unfold. I am a gay male and I don't know any transgender people personally, so your videos will help for me to understand what it is like to go through this incredible and liberating journey. Wishing you all the best the universe has to offer.
First of all wold like to say that you are a very brave young man. We should all be who we want to be a love who we want to love. We only get one life an it is up to us to live the way we want that makes us happy. My question to you is when did start to feel this way? I would like to be the kinda parent that could see the clues early on and be there to help my child,
You are a very brave soul and I'm glad I found this because I'm trying to learn more about what it's like to be transgender so I can support my friends should the need arise. I wish you all the best with your transition and much happiness.
If we all had the bravery to live our lives the way we wanted or were born to! There's nothing more beautiful than being who you truly are and to just be that brave is amazing.
Why do you say 'queer identified people?' are you a lesbian? That razor is way too aggressive. Start with a single blade and always shave in the same direction (down) that way hair growth will all grow in the same direction and look better. Lots of guys shave both down and up and then their stubble grows down and up.
Perez just posted this. Owen, what you're doing is so, so great! The views are going to come flooding in now, but so are the comments of hatred and stupidity. Please, please don't let it get you down - ever! You are doing something so, so important, and never let the strange, strange mentalities of others every take away from the incredible good you're doing with these videos, by helping people understand your struggle & by being a guide and helping those struggling along with you. Love xxx
@povang Testosterone is given to female-to-male transgender people so that they can go through male's puberty. It is 100% legal (unless you buy it on the streets).
@povang Um, your understanding is flawed. Taking prescription drugs without a valid prescription is unlawful. Since Owen has probably had to follow the path of most transgendered folk, he is under medical care and is prescribed the drugs.
It's a little bit early to be shaving, don't you think? :P I didn't need to shave until like... three or four MONTHS. But, I mean, it's up to you. :)
And I'm surprised that this video has so many views-- I guess it's because FCKH8 posted it on their Facebook page. My videos get like... 20 views. I'm a little over 6 months on testosterone... Good luck to you :)
@owenthegenderboy Haha, that's cool. And yes, that's how I found you. I just tried to get the link to the post about you specifically, but I can't seem to get it. Go to "FCKH8.com" on Facebook (like, the fan page) and it was posted yesterday I'm assuming they just searched YouTube for transpeople... but honestly, I don't know.
Hey, you're really cute! So I think that's really brave of you to talk about stuff like that in public. That's really great that you dare! keep it up, I love you for it!♥
Hey, I don't know if you know if you're a redditor or not, but I'm sure the IAmA subreddit would have some cool questions and things if you're interested. Either way, I wish you the best of luck with your transition.
Trader Joe's mango honey cream is my fave to shave with. It's so smooth and make my face feel so soft. Good luck learning to shave! Just take it slow and easy <3
You are amazing and being a straight female I am very happy to see someone so brave post videos and be a voice. Some of my best friends are transgender and it warms my heart to see you fully accepting who you are and not letting anyone get in the way.
As a MTF I still have a beard, I would suggest using a warm compress(wash cloth) before shaving as it prevents nicks/cuts. If Gillette doesnt work try Schick quatro it works ok for me even though I am sensitive to all razors....Best of luck and good on you for making such an honest vid man!
if you want to practice shaving, blow up a balloon and put shaving cream on it. Use a real razor and shave the balloon. If you can do it without popping the balloon then you are ready to try it on your skin. I know that sounds kinda stupid but really its better to learn this way so your less likely to nic your skin. No one wants to walk around with little bits of toilet paper on their faces (or anywhere else for that matter)
Two weeks after your first T shot is a common length of time to start noticing voice changes, just like how you sound on the video, so nothing unusual there. If you need some FTM (female-to-male) focused information resources, you might be interested in checking out the FTM Information Resources I maintain at: jotto dot info slash FTM . Best wishes on your transition!
Enjoy! I never shave with a blade, I always leave some stubble and don't shave close to avoid skin irritation and what not. Chin's the worst part, but it won't be bad. I always feel sexy when I shave hahaha! Hope you feel so too
God bless your courageous heart for posting these videos; ignorance & fear are the enemy, understanding & love will always triumph. You are truly blessed to have support from your family & friends & now from complete strangers who are also wishing you only the best. You just may be saving the life of another Transgender young person who feels lost & alone & has no hope; YOU ARE MAKING A WONDERFUL & NECESSARY CONTRIBUTION TO OUR WORLD!! Ignore the haters; Jesus taught us to LOVE one another.
Thanks for sharing Owen! It's great to see such an articulate and open young person sharing this transition and helping to educate people. Thumbs up, and if the popularity from HuffPost brings any haters around, just remember there are plenty of folks who admire your courage and are rooting for you.
Owen, you are a very brave young man to share this with us. I'll subscribe so I can see more of you. But sugar, electric razors are not evil and save you slicing yourself up :)
I am proud of you. I know how tough it is. I never understood it and always thought people were just freaks and did this because they want to be different or rebel. When I watched Anderson Cooper's special on "my name is steven" I think. And it explained that people that are trans do this because they feel trapped in a body that just doesn't match who you are. It helped. I think awareness is #1 and the more people learn, the better it will be! Good luck and may God bless you! Rich
