@polynesianhalfsun it is not uncommon for certain mantras to evoke a very strong emotional and/or physical reaction. some believe that it is a moment when the soul truly expresses it self in this physical world. it can seem uncontrollable (in the fullest sense of the word) and inevitable. this mantra can never bring harm, only enlightenment and direction. many are not able to connect with such profound words in such a visceral way. be blessed.

Although I was born a southern Baptist, I have not practice since my late teens. I am wary when it comes to religions because I cannot seem to turn off my mind and give up control to whatever I am told to give it to.
Therefore I am always conflicted inside about (1) what I know I should be thinking about and the actions I should do because I was told at a young age that this is what I should do - - but (2) there is something inside that won’t let me do those things because truthfully I don’t believe that everything that is taught is the only right way.
I came across Deva Premal a few years ago and I have noticed that after reciting mantras, I am overcome with calm. It wasn’t until recently (after listening and reciting the mantras of the Tibetan Mantras For Turbulent Times album) when I realized that perhaps what I am feeling is my mind, body, and spirit are finally experiencing some kind of peace.
It is the peace I believe that practicing religion is supposed to give me. I guess what I am trying to say is there is hope for me to obtain that spiritual peace that I envy that others seem to have in whatever religion they are practicing. Thank you Deva for all your hard work and please continue for future generations.

Buddha believed a human being can become self-aware by exactly doing what you have said, instead of achieving it through a medium (deity). Hinduism, is a mixture of pagan, elemental and spiritual worshiping. But even in Hinduism, a Sage knows that in order to achieve moksha, he must understand all aspects of human life and it's interaction with the nature, as well as learn to balance his Karma.

Our female bodies make it so that we can more closely relate to the idea of truly serving God since he is the only male, this mantra helps to get the idea of the male body out of the way.

Its simply not said that gayatri maha mantra should not chant by women,Every mantra has its own spiritual and yogic power.This maha mantra Energize the body by motivating the chakras present int the body.Chanting the mantra wrongly and without the knowledge of swara's will affect the body adversely.Will severely damage the chakras and intellect of one who chants it.And about the women,By chanting this maha mantra women will get bad affect on yoni(vagina) and garbha(womb).

I came across Deva Premal a few years ago and I have noticed that after reciting mantras, I am overcome with calm. It wasn’t until recently (after listening and reciting the mantras of the Tibetan Mantras For Turbulent Times album) when I realized that perhaps what I am feeling is my mind, body, and spirit are finally experiencing some kind of peace.

It is the peace I believe that practicing religion is supposed to give me. it is by following the path to freedom by understanding Suffering and causes of suffering, Cessation of suffering and the paths towards liberation from suffering.
You may be referring to Zen or Mahayana Buddhism
anyways i respect all religions as all of them serve the same purpose, Discipline of the mankind.

@supercauli I totally agree with you, and that is where Hinduism separates from Buddhism. Buddha believed a human being can become self-aware by exactly doing what you have said, instead of achieving it through a medium (deity). Hinduism, is a mixture of pagan, elemental and spiritual worshiping. But even in Hinduism, a Sage knows that in order to achieve moksha, he must understand all aspects of human life and it's interaction with the nature, as well as learn to balance his Karma.

Our female bodies make it so that we can more closely relate to the idea of truly serving God since he is the only male, this mantra helps to get the idea of the male body out of the way.

I DO believe that anything that brings the Divine into oneself is the Divine itself. That was my point with the Brahman quote, it's ALL God.
