Lost reminds me a lot of the video games series Myst / Riven. If you have played any of the Myst games you will understand exactly what I mean.

My next independent conclusion, is that the island has a natural wormhole anomoly. I hope the writers don't use that as the basis of the time issues, but rather the experiment led them to discover the island issues, since I believe that is more elegant and a deeper McGuffin (deux ex machina) to cradle the storyline around, but it will do.

Podcasts indicate real time & perceived time ARE different. Faraday comments the day "lost" since the helicopter left, may not be a "day", at all. On Lost.

PEARL report tubes collect without pickup topside. It's an abandoned experiment. HANSO began experiments with transport, a la Star Trek, or time travel. Leveraging Casimir effect, mapping electrical charge between particles, they plot & transfer stuff via beacons, or wormholes, instantly. Dropout program fills in holes the process creates. Unintended consequence: cripples walk, dead live again.

Isn't it interesting how his hair is graying in the Swan video, but not this one, even though they are both copyrighted 1980. You could say it's because it's a costume, but I don't believe that.

acctually if u had noticed in the swan orentation his name was marvin kandel. for the pearl however his name is dr. marvin wickman. and if u also noticed that in the swan kandel can not move his left arm. probably the "incedent"

This clip actually has a "hidden in plain view" clue about the date of its production. Notice the printer on the desk to the left of Marvin? It appears to be an Apple Image Writer II, which went on the market in 1985. (Check wikipedia entry: "ImageWriter II" for a photo and details.)

These Dharma orientation films/videos are done so well! They really capture the essence of training films and the look of filmstrips. This one in particular really gets the old video style, complete with dropout from the Umatic tape and cheesy 80's synthy score.
