Good man choosing Cote, another underated figher due to people's ignorance to TKO based out of Quebec, Canada. Not to mention he's still young and has time to continue strengthening his ground game.
Nice to have ya back Dan. Bang on prediction about Griffon's options to win. Out-scoring rampage with better endurance (which kept his skills sharper in later rounds) is what made the difference. You called it man.
Yes a majority of the TUF fighters are nubs who were just there as a stepping stone & TV ratings, but that doesn't mean all of them are cans. Griffon always had mad potential and was already very skilled for his experience level, with the right training he is forming into an even stronger fighter. There's no need to take anything away from Quinton Rampage Jackson though, he's fought through losses and wins which probably requires more heart than you can even concieve.
Hey man all I'm trying to do is add some interesting convo to a great video. And yes, when typing my full thoughts take a paragraph or more it's really too bad this disturbs you so much. You even bothered to send me a ridiculously insulting (way off base) personal message. I don't have to defend myself to you, I'm trying to add positivety and stir thoughts on the UFC & its event.
As for my original response to your post here. I don't know if you watch The Fight Network channel but they do event recaps. A lot of people feel that even though Griffon won on the scorecard, it wasn't a decisive enough domination (eg KO, TKO, Sub, Major Point Dif) to take the belt from the champ. It's a boxing tradition you are obviously unfamiliar with. I felt this way prior to watching T.F.N. recap and afterwards.
I see you're a Fedor fan. My guess is you actually belive in invincibility and that's why you are so quick to shun the man who was not the victor in a fight.
Good point... the old boxing golden rule, you've gotta take the belt from the champ to win it. Even if Forrest inched past Jackson on the scorecard, he didn't do enough to take the belt from the champ. Perhaps this philosophy doesn't follow in to MMA though I dunno? Anyways, I would be happy with either of them winning but in a fairly close fight that goes the distance, the champ deserves the win regardless of technicalities.
rampage didnt fight smart at all he wasnt ready for the leg kicks! he didnt seem to be able to posture up when forest had gaurd! he will have to learn some ground and pound off tito! his submission game is very sub par! he has alot of work to so and honestly im dissapointed in him!
Griffon is tall and powerful for his height with a flexible guard. I think it's easier said than done passing his guard and Griffon managed to avoid Tito's elbows/GnP after the first round of their fight.
My memory's a bit foggy, but I seem to remember Griffon sweeping Ortiz and getting back to his feet in the 2nd round of their fight. To sweep you have to throw someone's hips off balance which is countering a person's posture. But yeah, you're right about him stuffing takedowns as well. Endurance plays a big role to do that late in a fight.
i dont remember that i think i remember him gettin up alright in the scramble! but whatever way you look at it forest was much better at controling him and page couldnt do anything in the clinch! all he had was the punches! if forest beats the winner of chuck-rashad(probably chuck) he wont beat lyoto!
Yeah I think the only chance Forrest would have against Lyoto would be to test his jiu-jitsu if he could get past his takedown defense, which is very strong. That's a good matchup because both fighters fought Ortiz in which Loyto did a much better job than Griffon.
so i had it a draw to. but the judges look at different things and there all different in judging. I didn't think it was a unanimous decision at all mabey a split decision for Griffin or a draw but the scoring was for sure fucked up. I mean i am a huge Griffin fan but it seemed kinda fishy to me.
afromaniac760: I just watched the fight here on the internet. I'd say Griffin won. He was more aggressive most of the time, coming foward... engaging Jackson to brawl with him etc.. etc.. Close fight but I think the judges got it right.
I didn't think Forrest won. He definatley won the 2nd round, but other than that, I felt like he was rocked more than Rampage. It was close though, and Forrest fought a very wise fight for the most part. The leg kick is not used enough by alot of fighters.
Once again I am a victem of not checking the record more closely....Cote better win so I don't look like an asshole...well...NOTHING could stop me from looking like an asshole...this is crisis control right now!
I make that mistake from time to time on Sherdog (which is sad, because Fight Finder is right there). Either way, both are good fighters and it will be close.
Glad to see you back (sick of watching other prediction shows because they don't mix comedy and predictions very well. In fact, none of them do at all I've found.)
Great predictions and I'm hoping for a Griffin submission in the championship rounds.
i noticed you are a pretty educated fan, but you must have no idea who Ricardo is! his only 2 loses were coming from Semenov and Lindland and his loss to matt was a DQ. he has beat akira shoji, eugene jackson, Nate marquardt, kazuo misaki, and ryo chonan. if he beats cote your damn right he will be in line for a shot!!
nothin against the guys that are gettin a shot at the middleweight title but what about okami. hes gota be in the top 5 in that division. i think he should get a shot at silva.
Good to see you again.? what is the tattoo on your left shoulder? there is something going on with almeida there must be something out there we don't know about him.Because he just jump in an he ranks in the top 5 in 185.I think is record is 9-2 must have been a bad ass in pride!!

ye but as we know forest has been a bit better since his tito fight!
but tito was way more agressive with lyoto!
lyoto is a black belt under the nogueiras! i think personally it should be the next fight
biglittlejujitsuman 3 years ago
i had the fight like this:
Round 1: 10-9 for Jackson
Round 2: 10-8 for Griffin
Round 3: 10-9 for Griffin
Round 4: 10-9 for Jackson
Round 5: 10-9 for Jackson
so i had it a draw to. but the judges look at different things and there all different in judging. I didn't think it was a unanimous decision at all mabey a split decision for Griffin or a draw but the scoring was for sure fucked up. I mean i am a huge Griffin fan but it seemed kinda fishy to me.

afromaniac760: FYI: 3 rounds (Jackson) to 2 (Griffin) isn't a draw.

ya look at the 2nd round, i gave Griffin a 10-8 cause jackson didn't do anything against Griffin that entire round
