I played both Skyrim and Dark Messiah and I liked both, before I played Skyrim I didn't understand why almost everybody liked it but after I got Skyrim into my hands I changed my mind completely but Bethesda seems not to care about any bugs that occur in game. Also too bad that in Dark Messiah was nothing traveling freely through the world like in skyrim or even Mass Effect.

How can you compare Dark messiah to Oblivion?

Dark messiah - Singleplayer and Multiplayer game, amazing combat system, different leveling to oblivion, different stats, weapons, items, different kind of game!

Oblivion - Singleplayer, sandbox(unlike dark messiah), okay combat, giant area, loads of different quests...

there two completely different and equally awsome games.

This is not a fair comparison, the player use deadly reflex, this mod make Oblivion's combat system somewhat similar to Dark Messiah.

I never played dark messiah and played countless hours in oblivions from the lps that ive seen dark messiah have better story and great combat.

A moded oblivion can be better then dark messiah even in the combat department deadly reflex 6 + unnecessary violence 2 = awesome combat.

So from what I've read skyrim will be taking cues from dark messiah's supahfun melee combat system, and from the first person character animations in general which I would daresay are more detailed than they were in F.E.A.R.

Skyrim > Dark Messiah > Oblivion

In my opinion:

1. Story: Dark Messiah has a better story than Oblivion. A prove of that: different endings.

2. Graphics: Dark Messiah with Source Engine (like Half Life saga) kicks Oblivion's ass.

3. Combat: Dark Messiah, again. There's no doubt.

While Oblivion is larger, Dark Messiah is more intense.

Anyway, TES V: Skyrim is going to be much more better than Dark Messiah.

I find oblivion to be much better game in overall, but the only thing that it is lacking the kick that the Dark Messiah has. Everytime I fight someone in Oblivion, I have the urge to run up and kick them, but I can't.

Skyrim still has very unresponsive combat. It's miles behind DMoMM.

I suggest you to play both games before making such statements.

Sadly, no.

It's a big step in the right direction compared to Oblivion, but it's still slow and clunky. Half the time you're not fighting, but scrolling through menus.

I hate it when people say "mods will fix it", but I think this time it could be possible to make the combat dynamic and fun. Let's pray that Besethda is working hard on improving the TESCS right now.

I wouldn't say everything.

Both TESIV and TESV horrible animations and worse graphics. Both have bad or mediocre combat systems and stat systems. TES tries to be an action game and a RPG, with a stronger forcus on RP, but does average at both.

While DMoMM focuses on action and uses the stat systems just to improve the action and comes out great.

Of course, TES games win because they're HUGE. But if you look at all the pieces separately, they're all half-done.

Dark messiah is more dynamic game, it has more choises how to move, better battle system, choice to use the environment. Oblivion has more freedom to move and mod, more weapons on highest settings looks more realistic than DM i think. Both games have similiar story - you are the hero and you must save the world. But both are very good and for and (action) RPG fan theyre just must-have games.

Why did you only show stuff from deadly reflex in oblivion? That isn't even from the vanilla, it's a mod. Oblivion isn't just about killing things, it's more about exploring and building a personality for your character. While from what I've seen Dark Messiah is more about finding awesome ways to kill people, and isn't really focused on the storyline.

If oblivion had DM's combat mechanics, Tes5 would be born.

Both games are great! I Enjoy them both, althougth Oblivion got more freedom, Messiah has more choises how to play. And both games are good and fun to play. Oblivion is an RPG, Much freedom and much weaponds. Messiah is an FPS, much choises how to play Sareth(Ur char) and choises in teh world. I give both of them 10/10. BTW It was bad that you showed a Mod-Oblivion video.
