I have a chance at purchasing a 1966 Mustang without an engine. Right. So my question is should I drop in a 5.0 engine and Auto transmission or get 289 with a 4 speed? Please keep in mind Im 18 years old and this is my first car.

my first car was a 1965 and a half mustang (289). i would keep it original man. that throaty sound.. perfect. 5.0 would wreck the car IMO.

get the 5.0. Has more technology available and can be tuned to have really good fuel mileage. You can get the 5.0s cheaper too, but the 4 speed would be cool though. You can easily get that in a 302 also.

it´s definately a V8, see my other vids, there you can see the engine. but at this time there was nothing done with the exhaust system.

i`ve driven a 66 mustang and I found it very difficult to drive probably because the brakes weren`t too good and also as it did not have power steering. Boy it was difficult- but despite that, it was still the best looking car on the road!

I love mustangs but that one does not sound that great for the following reasons. 1. not enough cam, 2.A choice of lower compression pistons on the rebuild, 3.You cheaped out on your choice of mufflers - should have went either magnaflow or flowmaster. Its sounds healthy just not nasty enough.I own a 66 mustang fastback with a high compression 351C. Food for thought only - no disrespect on a great car.
