ok this video sucks. I actually played with this game back in the 80's. It didn't tie up the tv viewing for mom and dad. When your a kid and needed a game to play no complicated cords to deal with just plug in and go. The graphics wasn't all that hot but then again what video game from the early 80's had good graphics do I need to mention pong?

Today you cannot even buy vector monitors, which is a shame because there are so many classic Vector arcade games. The Vectrex is the ONLY console that comes close to capturing the way those vector arcade games looked.
I got a vectrex in good condition for $80 with one game.

Quality of games? Marketing? While it might not have been the hit at that time, it currently is a rock solid classic. Great games and a distinct style of presentation make it worth your while.

i think you should do some more fact checking about the release price,cause i remember this thing costing like 4,5 or 6 hundred at first,and i only had 1 rich friend that had this system,and i remember the 3d goggles,you should have went more in depth about them,they weighed like 50 lbs,so heavy they would fall of your face and had loud ass motors inside them that spun colored wheels,over each eye,they were so lound and close to your face u couldnt hear the sound from the game
Vectrex graphics might be only black & white but they're not pixelated like the other console's. Sound is pretty standard, the joystick is very arcade-y and some of the games are really good, especially the arcade ports. It has its flaws but it's not bad like the Jaguar and seeing smoothly scaling graphics on a console this old is kinda amazing.
Wtf? The Vectrex is awesome, I have the console plus the games Berzerker and Scramble. If you say this console is one of the worst in history there is something wrong with you.

@GoochandTheDooshebag I found several videos on reviews of the Vectrex and the console isn't as bad you choose to portray. It renders graphics in only one color, white, but they are super sharp and give really awesome visual effects! Better than the graphics still is the sound quality, which is as arcade-like as you should check out. Of course, I criticize the silly, needless overlays but at least they do explain what the four buttons are used for in each game.

You don't know what you are talking about, The Vectrex was one of the best systems ever made because it was unique and used Vector Graphics an actual Arcade Machine technology that was used by Star Castle and the more known Star Wars Arcade game (the one from the 80s). It had a very Original Pac Man type Game where you had to empty your bag of money in order to keep collecting dots which were supposed to be coins and you were a vacuum cleaner.
I now see what you mean about the Vectrex sometimes not reading cartridges.
Although my original Vectrex has never had the problem, I have now come across a Vectrex that does and it was very easy to fix.
The problem was simply that the cartridge slot was too loose, so all I did was turn the Vectrex on it's side, take some black tape and stick it to the bottom and top of the cartridge opening, using six pieces total. Now the cartridges fit snug and read every time.
You guys messed up on the part of the video when you mention the other consoles you could buy. The atari 2600 the intellivision and the Cole-WHAA??? You guys used the picture of the intellivision instead of the colecovision at 1:52
It's funny that you guys used Pole Position when talking about the 'bad graphics', when the alternative was Atari Pole Position, which looked like you were driving a flattened peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwich through a bin of Legos. At least there were other cars in the Vectrex port, not mammoth-sized yellow bricks that looked vaguely like a Space Invader x 30 the closer you got. No, seriously, folks, check it out. i think you should do some more fact checking about the release price,cause i remember this thing costing like 4,5 or 6 hundred at first,and i only had 1 rich friend that had this system,and i remember the 3d goggles,you should have went more in depth about them,they weighed like 50 lbs,so heavy they would fall of your face and had loud ass motors inside them that spun colored wheels,over each eye,they were so lound and close to your face u couldnt hear the sound from the game

Vectrex graphics might be only black & white but they're not pixelated like the other console's. Sound is pretty standard, the joystick is very arcade-y and some of the games are really good, especially the arcade ports. It has its flaws but it's not bad like the Jaguar and seeing smoothly scaling graphics on a console this old is kinda amazing.

@GoochandTheDooshebag I found several videos on reviews of the Vectrex and the console isn't as bad you choose to portray. It renders graphics in only one color, white, but they are super sharp and give really awesome visual effects! Better than the graphics still is the sound quality, which is as arcade-like as you should check out. Of course, I criticize the silly, needless overlays but at least they do explain what the four buttons are used for in each game.

Ahem, I am very angry that you claim vectrex to be a bad system i was about 2 when i first played it and i loved it i think it was in....2001 Well i also had an NES and such but i loved the game it was awesome i would play Hyper Chase hours on end then i moved on to the NES and ect.... I think the vectrex made me love classic video games so now im loving old games instead of new ones and im 11

You don't know what you are talking about, The Vectrex was one of the best systems ever made because it was unique and used Vector Graphics an actual Arcade Machine technology that was used by Star Castle and the more known Star Wars Arcade game (the one from the 80s). It had a very Original Pac Man type Game where you had to empty your bag of money in order to keep collecting dots which were supposed to be coins and you were a vacuum cleaner.

The Vectrex is the HOTEST colectors item out there aside from an Adventurevision in the nostalgia realm.
I loved it when I played it at the store but could never afford one.
It had a built in screen based on Vectorscan NOT RASTER! Color Vector was expensive so to sell it reasonable it was B&W with color overlays.
I hate when children have review old tech. They will never know magnetic tape or vinyl.

I now see what you mean about the Vectrex sometimes not reading cartridges.
Although my original Vectrex has never had the problem, I have now come across a Vectrex that does and it was very easy to fix.
The problem was simply that the cartridge slot was too loose, so all I did was turn the Vectrex on it's side, take some black tape and stick it to the bottom and top of the cartridge opening, using six pieces total. Now the cartridges fit snug and read every time.

It's funny that you guys used Pole Position when talking about the 'bad graphics', when the alternative was Atari Pole Position, which looked like you were driving a flattened peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwich through a bin of Legos. At least there were other cars in the Vectrex port, not mammoth-sized yellow bricks that looked vaguely like a Space Invader x 30 the closer you got. No, seriously, folks, check it out. It looks like garbage.
