There's just not much that sounds as good as that! It's funny, when they came out with CD's, I thought, "You want the sound to be clear?" The snap crackle and pop is what makes the music feel real.
Wow, I had some 78s when I was a kid, but I don't even know if you can FIND a turntable now that will play them. Both of mine only have 45 and 33 1/3. I know my one turntable has pitch control, but I am not sure if you can crank it up enough for that speed.
@AlbusPercyDumbledore That's great that you collect those old records. I used to have some 78's but my sister has them now. She has an old gramaphone too. Not too many people keep things anymore. We live in such a "Throw Away" society now. I grew up with records but 78's were before that time. I still have my old records; although I never had that many of them.
Danny Kaye was an amazing entertainer! They don't make 'em like him any more, and we are the worse for it. I love this song! Thank you for leaving in the sound of the record player, it is wonderful nostalgia!

My favorite tongue twister out of all of these:
Sheila is selling her shop at the seashore
For shops at the seashore are so sure to lose.
And she’s not so sure of what she should be selling -
Should Sheila sell seashells or should she sell shoes?
