A while back (before the Heavy buffs, when I was still heavily involved in Comp TF2) Scout was considered the strongest competitive class because of his speed. It's really hard to get into on youtube comments. I'm not sure about overpowered but he sure as hell makes things happen, if you have good scouts and the rest of your team is mediocre, you can still win against more evenly skilled teams.

The scout being borderline-overpowered when compared to say the Sniper isn't something that's up to debate. What this means is that a Scout hitting every shot perfectly does more damage than a Sniper hitting every shot perfectly.

First of all, the people that play sniper in comp play are insane and I've seen some snipers take out the whole team a hell of a lot quicker than scouts can. Second, there's really nothing there to compare those two classes as their play styles are practically opposite. And playing a good scout usually take a lot of skill to pull off, which is the exact opposite of being op.

That's like saying medics are op because their melee weapon does more damage than other classes melee weapons. I also beg to differ with your example. When you say perfect shot, I would assume that would mean a headshot for the sniper, which is almost certainly an instant kill as long as the target isn't overhealed. So how exactly is that weaker than the scouts perfect shot?
