Lots of rare, live, demo, and alternate recordings, as well as rare Deep Purple MK IV rehearsals, and Tommy singing "Wild Dogs" with Deep Purple in Japan in 1976. Truly worth a look... thanks!
I was in 8th grade when this album came out and listened to this song all the time. Brings back so many good memories growing up in NYC late seventies.
@logang95, Yes I've got it, and so can you! Search "Bad Company Albuquerque 1976" in google images to easily find a blogspot to download it from. Some great sites to search: vivalesbootlegs d&p's bootleg tunes world hearrockcity smuggeledsounds theclockthatwentbackwardsagain taringa! Each of these blogsites list links to other great rock blogspots too! *This concert was actually released in 1976, then withdrawn due to legal reasons, which is why it sounds so good.
@clayopalstar Not released in 1976 , Actually was a sound board recording from Mick Ralphs. He kept recordings of all the Bad Co. concerts. Ralph's decided on his own to release the CD through his website about 6 or 7 years ago and the other band members and record company stopped it after a few months when they learned about it.
Thank You for posting this song clayopalstar. This song has always been "one of the songs" from this decade. I really like this one. Paul Rodgers is "one of a kind". Simply one of the best. This is one of the first songs I learned to play some odd 34 years ago........ Really good....
Paul Rodgers is just quite simply an amazing singer. Love him, am off to find out if he is playin live anywhere near me anytime soon coz I would love to see him perform live. XXXXXX
my older brother's late best friend, who always had a "thing" for me romantically (although I always viewed him as a second brother never romantically), committed suicide on my birthday on 10/13/06. i don't think it was random not at all.....it was and is horrifying and surreal to me and I strangely still feel guilty about it like I could have done something to stop it. But my older brother his best friend left behind, mentioned this song not long after and it always reminds me of him.
As much as I love the latest "Bad Co: Hard Rock live" cd, the pulled from the shelves "Live in Albuquerque 1976" CD is the Holy Grail for Bad Co fans/nuts. Just hearing the guys running on all cylinders in their prime with Marshall amps at full blast & Les Pauls in hand...it just doesn't get any better than "Live For The Music" or "Rocky Steady" from 76....Goosebumps.
@clayopalstar WOW!!! Thanks for those links, clayopalstar! I'm having a great time with all this music!!! Thank you again from the bottom of my heart!!!
@facundo1963 Its not a bootleg. It was compiled by Mick Ralphs who would regularly record the groups shows back in the day as a blueprint to help the group change up the arrangements of the songs for later performances. Unfortunately it was available for a short time since it was eventually pulled due to legal reasons. I believe Paul Rodgers was behind it.
Saw them back in the early 90's... They sure put on a good show!! My first big concert actually~ weed was being passed around like crazy and had some dude start my hair on fire trying to light his bowl...lol Oh the memories!!!!
i saw Bad Company in the original lineup around 1979 (US tour). damn, it was good show. the drum solo, with lasers firing thru the sticks into a mist / fog around the kit was fantastic. i dont think u can shoot lasers into people now for fear of optics damage to the fans. at least, the folks who sued motley crue in the USA argued that, oh well. rock on, Bad Co !
@stybarrow@stybarrow Yep, I saw that tour in Louisville - Desolation Angels, 1979. Only time I ever saw laser lights coming from a drummer's sticks! My friends sneaked in a double-chamber water bong (concert security was a little different in the 70s) and I remember gazing through the mist / fog of redbud smoke and being quite amazed by it all!
@clayopalstar good times. earlier in the nite, the police came by our seats after one of the gang was lighting gunpowder (the kind used for home reloading) on the bottom of an upside down fountain drink cup. this would create a 5-second flash of flame that was probly 1-2 ft in height. ah, kids now have no idea what kind of fun the 70s provided, and is long gone in America.
@clayopalstar I'm from Louisville. Saw them 4 times, I was in my teens. Best show ever. Festival seating, up by the speakers. Security was different back then. Loved It!
this song isnt about anyone in particular, its about many differnt rock artists who died form drinking, john bonom (R.I.P) and jimi hendrix(R.I.P) are two examples
@outlawwolf621 The song was written a year before Kossoff's death. Rodgers really was thinking about Hendrix, Morrison , Allman, Joplin and others when writing this.
You can't beat this. I hear this stuff and I can't understand why they never released a live album of material from the 70's heyday. BadCo was sooooooo good in concert during the 70's. The Albuquerque CD that came out breifly several years ago was pulled due to legality issues/etc. :-(
This is actually the Run With The Pack tour as Burnin' Sky didn't come out until 1977. Also, this from from the Albuquerque CD where Paul Rodgers introduces Run With The Pack as the "title track of our new album."
VERY COOL VIDEO!!! THANKS

Paul Rodgers improvising, as usual. Although he doesn't usually improvise with lyrics, he does great vocal improvising.
