  • loved this stage it had that house music soul 2 soul feel and also the desert reggae stage

  • Did the snes have stereo?

  • @sharperguy yes the snes have stereo sound

  • Yuzo Koshiro got some soul in him!

  • This game's music was a huge reason I was inspired to even make music.

  • This game had some of the best music on the SNES!

  • makes you wish there had been a snes version of streets of rage - that soundtrack would have been incredible on a snes sound chip

  • This game is epic.

  • first song is if the hero was a pimp

  • This sh*t blew my mind when I first heard it. I see I wasn't the only one who recorded the music when I rented the game.

  • It's on the Wii's Virtual Console now.

  • What if they brought back this game on the new Nintendo console? o.O

  • I remember reading a review around the time this game came out that gave this game low marks for sound effects. I played the game after seeing that review, and I could care less about the SFX! Besides, when you use such high-quality digital instrument samples in the SNES for your music, you have to compromise on SFX since the SNES had such limited soundbank memory.

I liked the music of this game so much that I recorded it all to audio cassette before returning the rental!

  • wooow!! there's only one thing i can do now: walk high & funky

  • So why isn't he credited on the title screen in this game?

  • This is the game that got me into video game music in general

  • The only video game soundtrack that can go toe 2 toe with the soundtracks of Streets Of Rage 1 & 2 soundtrack

    Yuzo Koshiro is the man

  • If only ipods existed in 1992, i'd totally put these songs in it, The music+ the graphics blew me away when I first played it as a kid

  • Amazing clarity for an SNES game.

  • This is so dope.

  • This is what makes me wish Streets of Rage wasn't a SEGA game.

  • @ILOVETODANCELOL It would be a good idea...........for the music only! Snes has a better hardware overall, but SOR2 would do not run as the same fast speed as Genesis does, mainly in MANIA mode.

  • Me and my friends used the first song as music for a rap song we did when we were kids...it was so funky at the time.

  • The start music sounds like C+C Music Factory! haha

  • and this is why i loved my damn super nes lol...Inside that whale never been so Groovey! XD

  • Remember the first time I put this game on, my mom came in and said "when did they start putting real music in video games?". This and Streets of Rage were, and are two of my absolute favorite game OSTs, never knew Koshiro did this one too! It does make sense though, as they both drew heavily from the r&b\hip hop of the day. The underwater song at the start of this video still gets my vote for "Best video game song to make out to".

  • 4:33

    Best. Boss theme. EVER

  • This is amazing. I didn't know SNES music could sound this good.

     2:24 wow.

  • This soundtrack is so amazing, I went back to hear it and it still surprises me 18 years later. I can picture rappers legitimately spitting rhymes to this.

  • I like the dub track that comes in at 2:24

  • Huh, wow, awesome music for 1992.

  • I still love that soundtrack. One of the reasons the SNES was far beyond the Genesis. The sound on games like this and Super Castlevania 4, and Super Turrican makes you think your playing a CD based game and not a 16bit cartridge game. Thanks!!!!!

  • Thanks for this!!! .. Def one of my top 5 favorite soundtracks to any SNES game. I would pause the game just to listen to the music.

  • Can't blame ya. If I didn't own the game, I wouldn't believe it, either.

  • yes sir, this is fro mthe game man, Yuko Koshiro, google him dude is a beast, he did the music for streets of rage as well! he definitely had a western influence which made hsi music standout in the 90s.

  • Wow! that's funny, i was just thinking.... hey, Hudson totally ripped off Yuzo!! :)

  • Never underestimate Sony's stereo chip.

  • this is the original music. I know cause I would press the start button to pause and jam out to it 17 years ago.

  • those were good graphics for its time

  • i love the final boss music it,s a sorth of mix from r&d and hiphop music with cool beats and drums.

it sounded absolutely ahead of it,s time back in 1992.

  • on a snes?

  • Incredible soundtrack. I love the variety in the music.

  • 4:34 sounds so badass! It sounds like tracker music and reminds me of the demoscene. Damn, I miss the early 90's!

  • Can't believe this guy scored Streets of Rage, Actraiser AND Etrian Odyssey.

I can't believe he did this in 1992. This is purely amazing.

  • Childhood... Coming back... Brain... Filling with memories... Pain... But of the good kind...

  • I just realized this game is like Ghosts n Goblins except easy.

  • Even the box art, for the Japanese release, is alike.

  • The beats in this game were unbelievable, and amazingly from the composer from Actraiser . Hook this shit up to some speakers, the bass will blow you away, especially the reggae track

  • this game was fking impossible, but the music was so smooth...

  • wow the music sounds so real in this game, pretty hard to imagine coming from an SNES, 1992!? loved playing this when i was younger. water theme is the best.

  • heck i confused the music with the stuff from sonic cd!

  • I used to just listen to the soundtrack on the water theme as well. Great stuff!

  • what a fuckn hater! that mutha fucka on that broom is a bitch! my man was bout to score! he had the smoothe groove play'n and was gunna make his move! yeah, untill a few haters showed up! i hate shit like tht!!!!! lol

  • wow they almost like Sor series , yuzo revived the themes , thanks for up!

  • 0:00 to 1:22 sounds like that Milli Vanilli song Girl you know it's true ooh ooh oooooh I love you de de de dun de dun de.

  • Oh shit, I didn't know Yuzo Koshiro did THIS game too. D:

  • Wow, this music takes me back! I remember playing this game just to listen to the music. The first track was actually from the water stage, and I would pause and let it ride for at least an hour lol... It was all so simple back then

  • 3:43 is almost Soul II Soul Like

  • Heh 2:30, Some real reggae beats :)

  • Whoa! THIS is music from the SNES?! Jeebus! Seriously, Yuzo Koshiro is absolutely insane! Love him! XD

  • @GypsyRed

The SNES sound chip is sample based. You can do anything with it.

  • It seems that Yuzo used the same style as he did in SoR1.

  • This soundtrack totally shocked me back in '92; I didn't know the SNES sound chip could *do* that. And 16 years later, it *still* sounds good!

  • Couldn't agree more. Its simply amazing.

  • Hi,

I have wonder boy in nintendo wii, does anyone knows if this game is avaliable for the wii system? looks awesome.

  • what this is dope music!!

  • It is the music from Super Adventure Island on the SNES. Did that answer your question?

  • what question?

    lol you crazy

  • This is Yuzo's best work IMO, better than Streets of Rage.

  • cany say that but defnitly good,it seems like all the sound is in the drum synth.and its constantly the same kind of loop.

  • Personally, I like it better than Streets of Rage because of the diversity of the tracks and the drums sound better. Unfortunately, Garudoh left out my favorite track from the whole game, the music from stage 2-1.

  • awesome music

  • Aah, This game have good music
