Because I don't have vision, when I read I don't picture what characters look like, but I try to imagine what their voices sound like, and these characters are exactly what I pictured Maxim and the main character to sound like.
The proposal scene is great! I like the part when she looks down and then he disappointed says: "I'm sorry...it was a fine blow to my conceit...I thought you love me." He takes a cup of coffee and within the motion he freezes, while she is admitting her love. Jeremy's play is brilliant!
" - - and I should make love to you under a palm tree." <3 I might be weird, but I think that proposal was awfully romantic. Though that might be because Jeremy is always so mesmerizing :D.

I don't understand why Rebecca is so much like Jane Eyre. Aside from changing be a governess to a ladies companion there is no difference.
Everyone knew Mr de winter had a wife, not Mr. rochester. Everyone knew to her to be bright and intelligent, but not Mrs. Rochester.
Mr de Winter was legally able to marry her where Mr. Rochester knew he couldn't.
Mr de Winter killed his wife and Mr. Rochester was scared for life in his wife lifesaving efforts.

@Daewen You're not weird but I think at the time and with her timidity that would never have happened, I couldn't imagine Maxim doing it either lol.
