  • Good Morning everyone. I want to thank you for watching my video. I know the video and music are a bit much but I was just trying to make a point. When I made it, it wasn't intended for you-tube..

Merry Xmas and A Happy New Year.

  • I cant find NPN online anywhere. Where can I get this product??? Also in your video you made large slabs. I'm assuming that these will be cut to size?

  • @Surflogg call 901-730-2479

  • I just bought npn from your website hope it all works out.

  • does npn have another name i cant seem to find it ,do they sell it at home depot?

  • hello.

I was wondering.... i want to put a very shiny floor for the dog cages..i want something scratch resistant and something that their feces wont stick on it..would this do?

  • kind of a cheezy blackn decker screwdriver thing., id use a drill man

  • @paramo81 Kinda stone age looking huh. We all started somewhere. Including you.

  • what a cute drill...

  • @BumbleTR0N

    Good Morning,

The video is a little low on quality. When it was made, it wasn't intended for You-tube.

  • @BumbleTR0N Thanks

  • really need some help here...in making a concrete countertops is it just regular concrete set into a mold and npn to make it shiney or buffed out ...there are no special ingrediants in the concrete itself or a special kind of concrete you have to use...i was about ready to make a test sample and when i opened the concrete bag it had rock chips in it and i said to myself this isn't going to work...advice?

  • @candided concrete countertop mixes have water reducers, some have fiber reinforcment, and decorative aggregate if you are going to grind off the top cream. the NPN process is poured over acrylic or plexiglass and the resulting mono colored sheet is then used. I prefer to grind off a little cream and polish the exposed aggregate. looks more like granite.

  • @drchant42

Your point is a good one. Depending on the look your're looking for will determine the method.

  • @drchant42 when you grind your concrete do you grind dry or do you use a wet grinder?

  • @seymour5575 There's lots of tools out there for dry and wet. I use wet because I have an area designed for it. I guess it would depend on your surrounding.

  • @candided

    Good Morning,

The NPN is a great product. If you're referring to a bag of portland having rock chips.

This happens when the portland has been around moisture or has been on the shelf for a while.

    It may work.

If you're referring to a bag on concrete with aggregate already added, yes it will work.

  • @candided You can purchase a concrete mix from Zip Concrete Products called ZipMixx. It's pre-mixed with glass fibers in it for added re-enforcement and it was designed specifically for sinks, countertops, etc. The best part about it is that it will be completely hard in an hour, so you won't have to wait 24-36 hours like in this video. They sell integral colors that you add to the mix if you want something other than concrete gray.

  • @candided Anytime you need assistance call 901-730-2479

  • @candided npn is just counter wax on the form. made a vessel sink put counter top wax on mold, came out looking like it had high gloss on it. make sure mold is clean before you put wax on

  • @TheJimineycricket no plastic on the concrete

  • very informative! thanks!!

  • what is npn

  • @laithnour NPN is a clear liquid. It works only on smooth surfaces like plexiglass. It stops all efflorescence.

It increases the smooth qualities of the surfaces and changes the properties of the concrete.

  • yeah seriously, that was tough to watch. Anyways, how do you get it so thin???

  • @hotapplepie2009 It is the mix design and curing technique.

  • Looks like some cool stuff guys. Worth looking into.

    Thanks

  • what do you use as your base to form and pour on?

  • @Willyum100 Sorry for this late entry. Been swamped. When properly using the NPN only apply beeswax.

  • where do i buy the npn product

  • @NightR3volver .Concretesurfaces.

  • do you reinforce with steel, or use some ultra stong mix?

  • @danielcvalentine we do use ladder wire on extra long pieces.

  • where do I buy beeswax?

also what brand of concrete sealer do you reccomend?

  • @imabigmonkey we sell it at concretesurfaces. or check ebay

  • what kind of surface did you pour the mix on? and did you use any reinforcement in the concrete?

  • If i were to use concrete slabs for flooring what thicness do you recomend

    ahhh and great job!!!!!

  • You can make tile or travertine at 1/2 to 3/4 inch

  • i do notice after washing concrete my shine is gone does your product pernamently seal the surface to retain the polish and shine of the mold?

  • A penetrating sealer is needed and then beeswax to prevent staining. The shine is still there

  • Nopolish, nice video. What benefit would I get by using plexiglass vs. melamine?. I tried MDF and that seems to be a disaster. I am trying to market these things in an area where they seem to be completely unheard of..... Would you have any advice that would help me in sales?. Any advice will be GREATLY appreciated.

  • ine is still there.

  • The melamine would not work. The surface must be very smooth. The NPN product contains a wax and oil plus more. The NPN product stops the efloresence process creating a very high smooth gloss surface.

  • im a tradesman and i can see the potential of the technique used here, but im more than a little dubious about the structural integrity and thickness of these tops with no renforcement and i personaly dont like the edges left in the rough, maybe in some rustic applications its ok but for a high end kitchen i could'nt get approval from a client for this finished product..... perhaps made over size and cut to sink into some sort of pre-made units.... i dont know.

  • Thanks for your comment. This is only a sample for the gloss. 3/4 inch slabs ar basically done for panels. 1 inch for vanities and small tables. 1 1/4 inch for countertops. The edge profile can be done when framing or with a finishing and polishing tools and even a router. There are some clients that want the stone edge. Some bull nose, eased and ogee edges are possible.

  • the sides were not the issue here or planned. The purpose was to only show the main surface. The gloss here cannot be matched by anything

  • cast in an aluminun edge and the polish the aluminun egede for apperance. or brass would look nice also.

  • @theboy1973 . You can pour as thick as you want. These show only the surface.

  • Not knocking the polishing technique. All projects are different. Some you can use clamps, some you have to drill and place screws. Some need melamine and some plexiglass. NPN belongs to me however some projects reqyuire polishing.

  • Still can ot find instructions on the mix, in UK so no training over here. Got pan mixer, sprayer, etc but what is the mix?????? :-(

  • i am sorry for your problem. call 1-877-893-5485

  • We accept credit cards, paypal, account credit, other services too. We also have a refund and return policy posted on our site. We are also putting together an online training class for members of our site. Thanks for your comment.

  • Thank you. Our products can be located at concretesurfaces. NPN is a product we stumbled accross when making a countertop. We were not looking for it, iy just happened. It was difficult to repeat and we had to do a lot of trial and error until we had it.

  • Totally agree !!

  • I have written several books, attended many siminars, created several pieces of concrete art like countertops, bowls, sinks ,furniture and more. Assisted others in their projects. Are you having any problems?

  • The blue surface you see is just plexiglass. Water is applied first, then the NPN. The plexiglass sets overnite and then you apply your concrete mix. Remove it from the form when hard, ranging from 1 to 3 days depending on temperature. You have gloss.

  • So how long does the shine last? and how about craking with noe reinforcments? How do you finish the edges? they look rogh and rugged, like they could hurt somebody.

  • It shines with no cracks and the side can be as smooth as the top

  • we grind and polish the edges

  • Many tests and samples have been done on plexi without the use of NPN. There is always a chaulky film or inconsistency if you do not use NPN. If you have an idea or claim it, show it.

  • We offer a manual on making countertop mix. It does consist primarily of portland and sand.

  • Excuse me,I Want to know,¿the countertops only can be made with comercial mixes?, or everybody can mix a regular portland + color and polish after the cure? If i want a high gloss countertop..I guess I could'nt mix gross sand , because the surface will be sandy..but it will be very weak, Please explain me..

    Thanks a lot

  • x2. I didnt know they make special cement just for countertops? whats the diff?

  • I didn't say "special Cement", I said "comercial Mixes", it does mean, a registered brand of a particular mix of aditives, color, hardeners, sealants, etc I know a mix that includes Ashes, pulverized Glass, portland cement (secret formula),that is special for Countertops...etc. I asked that question, because I don't know, if the countertops can made with regular cement too Thanks..

  • The best concrete countertops are made with the basics: regular portland cement. All of the companies that offer you all of the additive and modified mixes are just trying to change the recipe to keep you guessing. Stay with the basics, beef it up and modify your technique to accomidate the mix.

  • Countertop mixes are a bit hotter or let me say they have more cement in the mix. Having more cement in the mix requires certain curing techniques. The curing techniques along with the mix design makes a great final product.

  • It isn't just the mix but how you mix it and how you cure it.

  • The NPN works with most countertop mixes I have used. Most mixes are a combination of portland cement and sands, If I understand you correctly, mix the color with your mix and then place it on the table. The NPN must set overnight. It is not ready as soon as it is applied.

  • We offer a manual on making the correct mix that is not sandy or weak

  • I didn't see whether you can stain this afterward or not. Also, NPN is added right to the mix?

  • When using NPN color should already be in the mix. NPN is applied to the surface.

  • this product looks amazing.I am going to make my own concrete counter tops however.I don't want to buy a lot of specialised equipment if i don't have to. Is there any secondary polishing that needs to be done if I learn to use this product properly ?

  • The NPN product is a wonderful addition to any countertop contractors tools. The more you work with it the less secondary polishing you'll need to do. The key to work with NPN is a very smooth surface like plexiglass. Materials like packaging tape works well as well. Usually secondary work on sink and outer edges look better when some secondary polishing is done. Let me know if you're interested

  • Nice finish! What type of equipment are you using for vibration? In a square foot, how many voids do you get using the NPN stuff? When you use npn, how long do you have to vibrate a slab?

    Thanks

  • Hi,

NPN works well with most portland/sand combination countertop mixes. Vibrating can be done with a hand sander around the edges, a concrete vibrator piston or a reciprocating saw attached to the legs of the work table. Working with NPN and plexiglass, creates a different environment for the mix. Since the surface is smooth, it allows the mix to slide together better. Vibrating is fairly short. With this product don't plan on polishing.

  • WHAT IS NPN ?

  • (N)o (P)olish (N)eeded. NPN is a clear liquid. When used as instructed, creates a residue from its own properties after a certain drying time. This residue is absorbed into the concrete approxiamately 1/8 of a inch. The plexiglass does not allow the residue to be absorbed into the plexiglass. Already being a smooth surface, the NPN magnifies the surface properties creating the hard very glossy surface. Concrete comes together better making bug holes dissappear faster when vibrating.
