Suggestion: Make the pin out of a screw so it protrudes on the back and score both sides by doing the scoring on both sides...Or... Have a hole saw kit handy... Nice tool though. Just don't agree with the hammer tecnique.
dude.. as a professional for over 20 years... if i ever saw one of my employees ever knock a hole out with a hammer he would be fired on the spot! this seems like a pointless tool. they have drywall compasses that score it without a knife faster than tthat tool does.
I saw that, and I merely question his methods in general. Partly because the tool is pointless if you're going to use a saw anyway, the sheer design of this tool lends itself to be used for punching holes. Not only that, but its premise is that the holes are quick--the timer is based on the fact that these holes are punched. So with a saw you now have a slow hole with an unnecessary middleman.
FWIW, if you have the sheet lined up and the can installed, you punch a router in the center and zip it around. Perfect hole. Takes literally 5 seconds.
ya but in the world of production with big jobs when you have to do this 30-40 times through 80-12- sheets sometimes...its what ya gotta do, for residential fine work though, not a million years i would use that method though
Nice invention, but how about placing a slider with a replaceable razor holster attached in-line, then the unit can be self-contained, simply side to marker , engage knife, spin. Of course for me, if I need to make a hole, I just use a hammer until it is big enough, any mess left over can be hidden with fixtures or spackle...hehe j/k
yeah very cool tool i always use a piece of paper or card with a screw in when im onsite to mark circles just like this tool does looks like like uve developed idea one step further i would get one of those.
Re-Title it: How to waste a sheet of drywall in less than one minute!!! or We're too cheap to buy a compass!!!

I would not hire anyone who punches out holes with a hammer. The other side is not scored, and drywall does not break cleanly.

Notice at the end of the video a saw is used "for a much cleaner hole" stated in the video.

This tool ensures a perfect hole. You can't make a perfect circle with a saw.
PaulWebb84 2 years ago
But he said you still use a saw!
